Smiling faintly at Old Madam Xu, Calix replied, "Leslie doesn’t want any of their dirty assets."

Calix and Leslie had discussed this topic once. She made it clear how much she refused to get the Li family’s assets under her name. The thought of it disgusted her.

"I can work to get my own money. I don’t need their properties."

Understanding the depth of Leslie’s contempt toward the Li family, Calix supported her decision. Following her words, he only focused on causing trouble for them.

Whether the authorities seized their properties during the investigations or not, he wouldn’t care about it. Even if they got kicked out of the streets.

The possibility was not high but, Calix and Leslie would only help Irene if it indeed happened. The rest of the Li family could try begging their relatives and friends.

Old Madam Xu tilted her head, seeing the worry swirling in Calix’s softened gaze. Andrian and Vernon were still in silence, letting the grandmother and grandson talk between themselves.

"My old eyes can tell you’re genuinely concerned about Leslie, Calix."

"...pardon?"

Baffled by the sudden change of topic, Calix stared blankly at Old Madam Xu. No other words came out of his mouth.

Calix saw Old Madam Xu curling her lips into a satisfied smile. A delightful twinkle shone in her eyes, followed by chuckles slipping between her lips.

"Can’t I be happy to see my grandson and his wife’s good relationship?" Old Madam Xu raised her brows, playfully teasing Calix, "Who knows? Poppy might get a younger sibling next year ah."

"C-cough! Grandma, Leslie is still sick ah. H-how could I do anything to her."

Old Madam Xu’s words horrified Calix. He felt goosebumps all over his body. Thankfully, Leslie was not around to hear the old woman’s longing for another great-grandchild.

If not... what would she think?

"Why are you blushing like a boy?" Andrian finally spoke for the first time. Snickering, he joined his mother teasing his second son, "Your grandma is right ah. Who knows? We might have a new family addition next year."

"Mia will be happy to get a new cousin," Vernon chimed in, swiftly agreeing with Old Madam Xu and Vernon, "The more, the merrier."

Tensing up, Calix was speechless. Why did this conversation suddenly turn into this?

"Brother, speak to yourself ah. If you want a new child, get one yourself. Give Mia a younger sibling."

Clicking his tongue, Calix tossed the words back to Vernon. His elder brother spoke as if he didn’t have a wife himself.

"We’re trying. We’ll share if there’s any good news," responded Vernon nonchalantly. He laughed seeing Calix’s flushed face, "Don’t forget your turn too, my dear brother."

Vernon and Lucille planned to have their second child but, they waited until Amelia turned four. Whether their wish would be granted or not, only time could tell.

Calix had nothing else to say. Gritting his teeth, he stared daggers at Vernon. Old Madam Xu and Andrian burst into laughter hearing the siblings’ banter.

"Haha, enough ah," Old Madam Xu waved her hand, seemingly to be in a better mood, "Anyway, since that’s you two’s choice, proceed with it. Let the Li family pay for what they’ve done to my granddaughter-in-law."

Blinking, Calix quietly replied, "Understand, Grandma."

Old Madam Xu didn’t care if people said she and Calix went too far by ruining the Li family for their ill treatment of Leslie. The damned family had done too much damage.

Her second granddaughter-in-law was one of her people now. No one could escape her wrath!

"I’ll take a nap. You guys continue to play," Calix rose to his feet, no longer interested in playing.

"Seems like someone can’t wait to be with his wife and daughter," Vernon stared meaningfully at Calix, earning the latter’s glare.

"So what? You should rest too ah."

Ignoring Vernon’s teasing, Calix hurriedly left the lounge. He knew he would be made fun of again the longer he stayed with his elder brother, father and grandmother.

Calix, Vernon and their respective small families resided on the third floor. Evelyn also had a room here. Old Madam Xu, Andrian and Harper’s chambers were on the second floor.

’They better not talk about it in front of her ah.’

Halting in his tracks, Calix shuddered at the thought of Leslie hearing something like that from his grandmother. But, he couldn’t deny the vision charmed him.

’Well... I do want to have another child with her. But..."

Calix regretted not accompanying Leslie during her pregnancy journey, witnessing Calliope’s birth and watching over the little one’s growth.

Yet, he didn’t plan to pressure Leslie about having another child even after their relationship improved.

She was the one who would bear the pain. Her first pregnancy and childbirth’s unpleasant experience also might traumatize her.

’Ah, forget about it. I have something more important now ah.’

Shaking his head, Calix resumed walking. His footfalls resonated faintly in the hallway of the third floor. He eventually arrived at the room at the end of the corridor.

Creak...

Calix quietly stepped inside the room, reluctant to wake Leslie and Calliope up. He couldn’t immediately see his wife and daughter. There was a short hallway separating the door and the bedroom area.

Walking past the corridor, Calix smilingly looked at the bed. Some streaks of light slipped in through the gaps between the curtains, outlining Leslie and Calliope’s sleeping figures.

’Both are still tired ah.’

Stifling his laughter, Calix silently watched Leslie and Calliope huddling on the bed. The little one didn’t forget to bring her fox and dragon toys along.

’I better sleep too.’

The huge crowd at the beach was still enjoying the festival but, Calix only wanted to spend his time with Leslie and Calliope. He was happy to see how much they liked their little adventure at the beach hours earlier.

Kicking off his home slippers, Calix quietly lay on the bed. He adjusted the blanket covering Leslie and Calliope before closing his drowsy eyes.

Would he dream again?

Most likely he would. But, what kind of dream this time?

Would he get helpful clues in this one?
