Chapter 197: How Well Does He Treat You?

While waiting for lunchtime, Old Madam Xu conversed more with Leslie. Calix was treated as nonexistent by the old lady until she had questions for him. In helplessness, he quietly listened to the two ladies’ conversation.

As for Mrs. An, Butler Gu directed her to wait in another room. She was served with snacks and drinks as well.

"Leslie, don’t you feel tired after all those rehab sessions?" Old Madam Xu asked Leslie in concern, creases lining her forehead, "When Calix underwent his years ago, he always complained about them."

Calix gave a deadpan stare to Old Madam Xu, thinking was it necessary to drag his name into this?

"They’re indeed tiring... I couldn’t do much in the... beginning yet, I felt very tired..." Leslie echoed Old Madam Xu’s sentiment, telling the old lady more about her treatment, "Grandma, the private nurses you... chose have been taking care of me... well..."

Leslie brought up how meticulous Mrs. An and Mrs. Su were in caring for her. She also mentioned Dr. Mo, Ms. Chen and Ms. Yao’s intentions for her to get fully recover soon.

The smile on Old Madam Xu’s lips deepened. Somehow, she felt happy to hear how politely Leslie spoke to her. Despite the young lady’s inability to speak clearly as normal people, she made the effort to do so.

"Hehe, of course! I’ll pick the best ones for you," chuckling, Old Madam Xu covered her mouth with one hand, "I was shocked when I heard Calix hadn’t hired any private nurses. Did he really think he can look after you every minute and second?"

Calix openly exhaled a sigh, earning Leslie’s chuckle and Old Madam Xu’s glare. The old lady and grandson pair was caught in a battle of stare.

’Huhu... I forgot to look for them because Leslie was a ghost ah.’

CEO Xu felt how unfair the situation was but, he couldn’t possibly tell his grandmother the truth.

Instead of sympathizing with him, he might receive another incredulous look. Or worse, another smack on his back.

Ignoring her second grandson, Old Madam Xu pulled her eyes away from Calix. Once again looking at Leslie, she fondly said, "Leslie, you just need to focus on your recovery. Don’t worry yourself about anything else. Oh, has my silly grandson here been treating you well?"

Old Madam Xu noticed the level of intimacy shared between the spouses. Her experienced and old eyes could tell neither Calix nor Leslie was faking it. But, she still wanted to hear it from the young lady directly.

The rosy shade tinted Leslie’s cheeks at the sight of how beaming Old Madam Xu was. She vaguely guessed that the old lady wished to know more about her relationship with Calix.

Old Madam Xu was aware of the true nature behind the spouses’ marriage. Still, she really hoped for Calix and Leslie to get along well.

Knowing how her second grandson was, Old Madam Xu wouldn’t believe it if Calix said he simply chose Leslie because she was in a coma before thus, unable to bother with his private life.

Blinking, Calix shifted his eyes from Old Madam Xu’s expectant look to the back of Leslie’s head. She leaned sideways to face his grandmother but, he noticed the redness at the tips of her ears.

Oho~ Would she say something else aside from the standard answer?

Somehow, Leslie sensed the weight of Calix’s stare. Even without looking directly at him, she knew for certain he was interested to know as well.

Feigning ignorance, Leslie simply focused on the chirpy Old Madam Xu. She was bashful but, she didn’t want to make light of the latter’s question.

"Calix treats me well, Grandma. He always... takes me strolling after dinner... We go for night rides too... whenever he’s not busy... Yesterday he gave me... flower bouquet when he came home... from work..."

Aunt Wendy put the purple hyacinths and white tulips inside a beautiful vase in the color peach with pinkish hues. She placed the vase on a table in Leslie’s bedroom, saying she would feel better waking up to these lovely flowers.

Old Madam Xu arched her brows, sparkles glimmering in her eyes. Taking in Leslie’s lively gaze, she could tell how happy the young lady was with her grandson’s attention on her.

Well, well, this was better than her expectation ah.

For once, she could praise her silly second grandson.

Calix pressed his lips together into a straight line, blinking slowly as if he was caught in a trance. Sensing heat emanating from his ears, traveling to his cheeks and neck, he felt weird on the inside.

Instead of feeling repulsive, it was more like... sickeningly sweet and happy.

As for Leslie, she said nothing more. Her lips curved into a smile.

Old Madam Xu noticed the faint pink bubbles coming from Leslie and Calix. None of them looked at each other but, their bashful actions fluttered her heart.

"That’s good ah. Befitting to be my grandson," Old Madam Xu patted Leslie’s back, taking the chance to promote Calix further, "He can be chaotic but, he treats his family well. But, don’t hesitate to tell me if he troubles you later."

"Grandma... don’t you believe me?" Calix made a face, peeling his gaze away from Leslie, "I’m an exemplary young man ah. Of course, I’ll treat my wife like a queen."

Old Madam Xu shrugged, "We’ll see~ Have you forgotten how you got Leslie to marry you? You need to make up for her ah. A proposal and a wedding! We can start planning your wedding after Leslie fully recovers."

Leslie blinked. She didn’t expect to hear about a wedding from Old Madam Xu. Calix also felt the same way.

The old lady’s clear excitement in her voice told them she had already envisioned their wedding.

’A wedding? Me and Calix?’

Leslie’s smile momentarily froze before she quickly assumed a normal countenance. Because of the nature of their marriage, the thought of holding a wedding had slipped out of her mind.

Not saying anything, Calix immersed himself in what had just Old Madam Xu brought up. A beautiful image was gradually conjured up in his mind effortlessly as if the vision was something natural for him.

A stunning altar at the end of a beautiful aisle, guests watching them fondly, Leslie in a charming wedding dress while holding his arm and Calliope in an adorable flower girl attire.

Well, wouldn’t that be quite a dream?
