Chapter 571: 526 Stressed into turning dark?_2
If that’s the case, then it proves there is something more to this matter.
Furthermore...
"Actually, some members of the Elf Corps who have been in contact with Merica have reported feeling an unusual flow of Magic Power around her."
Carol brought up this matter.
"It seems like there is something affecting the Magic Power around Merica, changing its direction."
Shane wasn’t surprised by Carol’s words.
He had noticed this long before he even arrived at the Royal Capital.
Around Merica, there had always been a peculiar flow of Magic Power, as if being drawn towards her.
Shane had been aware of this but didn’t know the reason behind it.
Previously, Shane had suspected that it might be a phenomenon caused by the nature of the Elf Clan itself.
But now, it seemed that this wasn’t the case.
At least, not every elf encountered this.
Otherwise, Merica wouldn’t be so anxious, and Carol wouldn’t have brought it up.
"Could the Elf Queen have noticed this too?"
Shane tentatively asked.
"I’m not sure." Carol shook her head, but then said, "However, I think the Queen must have noticed something."
If even some of the elves here have noticed this anomaly, then more so the Elf Queen who constantly uses the power of the Queen’s Palace to monitor the Magic Power situation in the entire Elf Country.
Thus, the Elf Queen must have definitely noticed some anomalies to some extent.
"Okay," Shane nodded, indicating that he understood, then said, "I will take Merica to meet the Elf Queen then."
"I’ll take you there." Carol thought for a moment and then said, "The Queen seems quite concerned about your matters; it would be good for you to visit her sooner rather than later."
With that, Genom immediately raised his hand.
"I’m going too!"
The Elf girl exclaimed loudly, her hand clutching Merica’s clothes, which made Merica tear up.
"You stay here and continue your work!"
Carol glared at Genom and flatly refused without mercy.
"Why...!?"
Genom was unconvinced.
But Carol was even angrier.
"You dare ask why? Why don’t you ask yourself why you had to do something stupid?" Carol finally grabbed Genom’s ear, speaking as if scolding out of tough love, "Clean up the mess you’ve made first, then you can leave, did you hear?"
"I..." Genom still wanted to resist, but let out a yelp of pain as Carol twisted his ear, promptly saying, "I know, I know! I understand now!"
Genom’s voice finally sounded a bit aggrieved.
I just wanted to be with Merica, why does everyone have to stop me?
We’ve been inseparable since we were little; after being apart for two years, shouldn’t we be together all the time?
How can no one understand?
You are my clansmen!
If my own people can’t understand or sympathize with others, then all of you...!
"Ooh..."
Shane suddenly shivered, staring at Genom who lowered his head and walked away, his eyes wide open.
"Mr. Shane? What’s wrong?"
Merica, who had tidied up her clothes, still blushing, looked at Shane puzzledly.
"It’s nothing," Shane shook his head and muttered, "I just felt a dark presence for a moment."
Could Genom be on the verge of turning dark?
Shane wondered.
"Ah!"
At that very moment, the disgruntled Genom raised his Short Stick and cast a spell from the Flame Series, thawing a treehouse. However, because he was in a bad mood and brooding, he accidentally released too much Magic Power, causing the entire treehouse to not only thaw instantly but also catch on fire.
"What are you doing, Genom!?"
Carol exploded.
"I... I’m sorry!"
Genom cried out, rushing frantically to put out the fire.
"..."
Shane’s lips twitched as he fell into silence.
... And you still want to turn evil?
Just go to sleep.
...
Minutes later, Shane, Merica, and Carol left Genom and the Elf Corps behind and headed to the Queen’s Palace.
The Queen’s Palace was situated atop the highest ancient tree in the Elf Country, easily recognizable from a distance, with no worries of getting lost.
"Roar!"
As Shane and his group arrived under the ancient tree, before the vines bridge could even descend, a roar echoed from above, and a Black Dragon burst through the treetops, flapping its Dragon Wings and bringing a gust of wind.
"Miss You Lin!"
Merica called out.
"Are you still here?"
Shane couldn’t help but laugh.
The Black Dragon descending from the tree was naturally You Lin.
You Lin descended majestically and landed in front of Shane, continuously roaring as if to say "I’ve been sleeping up there for quite a long time," and looked quite pleased with herself.
"Do you really plan on ruling this place?"
Shane felt amused again, reached out his hand, patted You Lin’s head, and casually gave her some Magic Power, making the increasingly humanoid Black Dragon look utterly content.
Carol watched this scene.
"I really don’t know where you found such a Black Dragon." Carol eyed You Lin, and seriously said, "Judging by her aura and Magic Power, she’s clearly no ordinary adult from the Dragon Species, perhaps a legendary Demon known far and wide?"
"Roar!" You Lin roared as if saying, "Isn’t that obvious."
"Miss You Lin indeed has a wide reputation." Merica explained, "Everyone calls her Artlu’s Black Dragon."
"Artlu?" Carol mused, "Is that the canyon near the Royal Capital known for having many powerful Demons?"
"Exactly." Shane stroked You Lin’s head and looked at Carol, "You know that place, huh?"
"Is it strange?" Carol countered, "It’s quite famous, even though it doesn’t compare to Taiger Forest, but it’s a rare paradise of Demons from outside, isn’t it?"
Artlu Canyon really was a paradise for Demons, inhabited by many strong creatures, even making the High-level Adventurer Team from the Royal Capital wary of entering.
But for that reason, it was targeted by the Old Demon Clan Faction to perform the Demon Refining Ceremony.
"Although I’ve never been there, when I went out to train three hundred years ago, I did hear that a dragon appeared there." Carol looked at You Lin, "Could that dragon have been her?"
"Probably." Shane shrugged, "Before coming to me, You Lin ruled over Artlu Canyon for a whole few hundred years, which coincides with the time you were out."
"That makes sense." Carol nodded, then got straight to the point, "Let’s go, to see the Queen."
Shane and Merica nodded in agreement.
Until...
"No need, I’ve already come down."
An ethereal voice suddenly sounded, causing everyone to look up sharply.
There, Elf Queen Sophie, along with her confidants, Leiya and Nia, was descending on the vine bridge from the tree.
"Queen!"
"Queen!"
Carol and Merica immediately knelt down.
"Roar!"
You Lin turned her head away disdainfully.
"She came down by herself?"
Shane was somewhat surprised.
Meanwhile, Sophie, after descending, glanced at Merica then turned to Shane.
"I knew you were coming to see me," Sophie said with a smile, "but I can’t answer your questions, only the being who knows all about it can."
"The being who knows all this?" Shane was slightly startled.
Sophie gently nodded.
"I’m here to take you there."
Sophie spoke thus.
"Let’s go."
"I’ll take you to the Nature Goddess’s Temple."
