Chapter 570: 526 Stressed into turning dark?

Finally, the farce ended with a statement from Carol.

"I don’t care about the rest, I just want to say, let there be no second time."

Carol, who spoke with an expressionless face, then fixed her gaze on Shane and Genom.

Obviously, no matter how Shane tried to shift the blame or how Genom tried to justify himself, Carol still believed that the fault lay with both of them, not just one.

"Are you really a teacher?"

Shane was too lazy to retort.

Since she didn’t know whose fault it was, she blamed them both. Isn’t this a teacher’s trick?

Carol ignored Shane’s comment and, after leaving that remark, tried to take Genom away.

Of course, Genom was unwilling.

"Merica! My Merica!"

Genom struggled as if he was prepared to go on strike and take Merica away.

Unfortunately, he was no match for Carol, who was nearly a legendary master.

"You still have a street to clean up," Carol said mercilessly. "You’re not going anywhere until it’s done."

"How... How can this be!?" Genom exclaimed with widened eyes. "Doesn’t that mean that detestable guy will continue to be alone with Merica? I won’t allow it!"

"Oh?" Genom squinted his eyes and said coldly, "So, the trouble you caused yourself, you’re not planning to take responsibility for it?"

"I... I didn’t say that..." Genom’s voice became softer, revealing that he was somewhat aware of his actions but was reluctant to compromise on one thing: "At least let Merica stay, let her be with me!"

That was his only compromise.

However, before Carol could respond, Shane did.

"That’s not possible," Shane said decisively. "I am taking Merica to meet the Elf Queen and I won’t let her stay here."

At this statement, everyone from the Elf Corps turned their heads.

"Taking Merica to meet the Queen?"

Genom was stunned.

"What? Is there a problem?"

Carol also furrowed her brows and became serious.

Although Carol had indeed said in the morning that Shane and his group could visit the Queen’s Palace to see the Elf Queen at any time, Shane’s current demeanor suggested that he was not merely intending a brief visit.

Indeed, that was the case.

"There’s something wrong with Merica," Shane didn’t attempt to hide it but explained in the shortest possible way: "So, I need to take her to see the Elf Queen and find out if she has any clue."

"Something wrong?" Carol fell silent.

"What!?" Genom was shocked, and with unexpected strength, he broke free from Carol, rushed to Merica, and asked anxiously, "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Did that detestable alien male do something to you? Let me check!"

Saying this, without waiting for Merica’s response, Genom began to touch her.

"Wait... wait! Genom! I’m fine! Calm down... Ah!"

Merica suddenly cried out in alarm, her face blushing deeply.

"Let me see!"

Genom seemed to lose control, genuinely worried, his hands clumsily touching Merica’s body, even slipping into her clothes, causing Merica to continually cry out in embarassment.

This riveting scene, had there been other men there, would probably have made them drool.

Shane merely glanced over and then indifferently withdrew his gaze, showing absolutely no linger.

This caught the attention of the Elf Corps, and they viewed him with a certain respect.

"This alien male seems a bit different from other men..."

"Yes, he just took one look at Merica and then looked away."

"He seems like a very gentlemanly person."

"If it were any other man, definitely no one could remain as composed as him."

The girls of the Elf Corps whispered to each other, appearing to have a much improved impression of Shane.

Even Carol seem to see Shane in a new light, giving him a deep look.

If Shane had a system that could detect approval ratings, he would probably be receiving a continuous stream of "XXX’s approval +1" notifications.

This made many of the Elf girls lower their guard towards Shane a bit.

But what did these girls know?

The beast standing before them was not averting his gaze out of gentlemanliness, but because he had already seen all there was to see, and even more—he had touched and kissed, having done everything there was to do, and only then could he behave without care.

If a beautiful girl were offering such a ’benefit’ in front of him, Shane would not just be withdrawing his gaze, but it would be quite decent of him not to grab a chair, sit down, eat melon seeds, and enjoy the show.

At that moment, a silent Carol finally spoke.

"Is it because of Merica’s magic power?"

The Vice Division Commander of the Elf Corps had hit upon the reason.

"You knew?"

Shane raised an eyebrow.

"Sort of," Carol said unchangingly. "Merica was trained by me, I know her abilities and potential better than anyone."

In such circumstances, others might think that Merica’s astonishing growth was due to two years of practice outside, but Carol thought otherwise.

Because she was well aware of Merica’s potential and talent, knowing it was utterly impossible for her to achieve such growth in just two years.
