Chapter 540: 505 I really appreciate it!_2
At least, in the past, whenever the Demon Refining Ceremony occurred in Taiger Forest, and they needed to handle it, this was how they did it.
This time, the two of them did the same.
"I didn’t expect to run into you," Lide said after taking a look at Shane. "I suppose this is an unexpected gain?"
"Uh-huh!" Milu nodded vigorously.
Clearly, these two were already aware of Shane’s existence and knew of the relationship between Shane and Ai Yi.
This time, Shane arrived in Elf Country without intending to mention Ai Yi’s name, but the two of them appeared and immediately guessed Shane’s identity, just as Shane had guessed theirs.
"At first, I really thought that girl must have gone crazy, a noble Dragon Demon, one of the Six Great Demons, actually running off to fraternize with a human kid. If I didn’t know her temperament so well, I’d have to wonder if she’d slept too long and gotten her brain addled."
Lide’s words, one could say, were extremely vicious.
"Uh-huh!"
Milu was still nodding continuously, which was simply beyond criticism.
Of course, that was their initial thought.
Now, well...
"Although I still don’t quite understand what nerve that girl has twanged, but since Big Sis has accepted you and isn’t planning to delve into your affairs, and you look rather capable. Despite your young age, you possess at least a legendary-level strength, most importantly, you’re not afraid of us, daring to confront us; with these conditions, we might as well consider you passed."
Lide’s appraisal was also extremely strict.
But all in all, Shane had caught their eye.
If not for this, perhaps the two of them might have actually taken action against Shane.
To use Lide’s words, if you want to get involved with Ai Yi, then you have to bear this risk.
Otherwise, do you really think you can easily overcome the gaps in status and strength and gain the favor and protection of an apex Demon from the Demon Clan?
Perhaps Ai Yi herself doesn’t care, but she is ultimately one of the peaks of the Demon Clan, standing above the entire Demon Clan. Every action of hers is enough to influence the entire Demon Clan and even the whole world. Even if she herself is unwilling, others will still act; such is the influence of the mighty and the noble.
Shane naturally understood this principle.
But he had never taken it to heart.
After all, with his unique identity, he was bound to enter the field of vision of those who dominate this world sooner or later; he was already mentally prepared.
Now, although he couldn’t say his strength allowed him to act without any reservation, at least he had a way to have some confidence; that’s why he wasn’t very afraid and dared to leave Elf Country with Milu and Lide.
Thanks to this, if it were any other time, facing Lide’s such self-righteous appraisal and scoring, he would definitely have retorted a few words.
But now, he cared more about another matter.
"So, the Demon Refining Ceremony is still being held in Taiger Forest?" Shane asked. "Have you found anyone from the Primordial Demon?"
Lide answered very straightforwardly to this question.
"No," Lide replied. "If it were that easy to find, that oldest Old Demon Clan Faction wouldn’t have been lingering on its last breath for a thousand years; it would have been eradicated long ago."
"Uh-huh!" Milu also nodded heavily, as if to agree, and even made a punching gesture. She threw out her tiny fist, conjuring a surprising gust of Breeze that dispersed the surrounding Fire Sea, terrifyingly fierce.
Shane suddenly fell silent and sighed.
"What?" Lide actually asked, "Do you have a grudge against someone from the Primordial Demon?"
Seeing Shane so concerned about the Primordial Demon and the Demon Refining Ceremony, Lide was somewhat probing.
"A grudge?" Shane snorted, "If you have to say, I can’t say there isn’t."
The incident in Artlu Canyon, although the Galuo Li Family was the main culprit, with the Primordial Demon as the hidden hand behind the scenes, Shane had not forgotten to mark this in his mind.
Plus the enmity with the Old Demon Clan Faction, it was natural for Shane to consider the most mysterious and oldest Old Demon Clan Faction as an enemy rather than a friend.
Of course, the real reason Shane was concerned about the Old Demon Clan Faction was because of the Seventh Demon and the creation of a new Demon King.
He was summoned to this world as a Hero, and according to Nien, the reason was to resolve a hidden crisis.
The hidden crisis very well might be the acts of the "Primordial Demon," creating new demons and conjuring a new Demon King.
Given this, how could Shane not pick a fight with the "Primordial Demon"?
"In any case, I don’t get along with the Old Demon Clan Faction. You just need to understand that," Shane said to Lide. "If possible, I’ll definitely eradicate all of them from this world."
It was just that crude.
Yet, both Milu and Lide’s eyes lit up because of what Shane said.
"Agreed!"
Milu raised her hand with fervor.
"Exactly, those bastards deserve to be completely wiped out from this world."
Lide also nodded vigorously.
Clearly, the attitudes of these two toward the Old Demon Clan Faction, just like Ai Yi, were full of intense hatred.
One could say, wasn’t it the demons and the Demon Clan who all loathed the Old Demon Clan Faction deeply?
Especially the "Primordial Demon" faction, which intended to create new demons and a new Demon King; they were trampling on the existence of demons and the dignity of the Demon King.
Furthermore, for their own ends, not only did they use demons as sacrificial offerings and victims, they also attacked the Demon Clan, harming their brethren; every member of the Demon Clan wished nothing more than to completely annihilate them.
Shane’s declaration was exactly what Milu and Lide wanted to hear.
Consequently, they both found Shane much more appealing.
"Looks like that girl Ai Yi does have some insight," Lide even let slip such words, which showed how much he detested the Old Demon Clan Faction.
Shane wouldn’t have expected that the two who’d previously been scrutinizing him like dead younger sisters... correction, as two big shots, would now have such a change of heart towards him, simply on account of a shared hatred.
There was only one thing Shane wanted to know.
"Since they didn’t catch anyone, is the Demon Refining Ceremony solvable?" Shane furrowed his brow and said, "I didn’t feel the evil, dark Magic Power when the Demon Refining Ceremony was initiated. Could it be because the site of the ceremony isn’t here?"
"No, the site of the ceremony is right in this area," Lide shook her head and spoke. "It’s just that the ceremony has already been sabotaged by Milu and me."
"The ceremony has been sabotaged?" Shane was startled.
"Yes," Lide waved her claw and said. "Milu and I have both taken action. Did you really think the ceremony could continue as planned?"
Indeed, both of their identities were far from simple. Since they had come here and embarked on a mission, how could they not have achieved anything and simply gone to Elf Country to relax?
"Although we’ve sabotaged the ceremony, the mastermind who orchestrated the ceremony hasn’t been found. Some Refined Demons that took shape during the ceremony have turned into fish that escaped the net, wandering in the forest." Lide continued, "These Refined Demons might be recovered by the people of the "Primordial Demon" to feed the other Demon Infants; therefore, we need to eliminate as many of the remaining Refined Demons as possible."
"Eliminate! Eliminate!" Milu cheered, seemingly full of enthusiasm.
And Shane understood.
"Don’t tell me you guys see me as a strong man to use in this?" Shane was astonished.
Lide then revealed a "gentle" smile.
"We just wanted to see your strength," Lide said teasingly. "How about it? Isn’t this thrilling? Isn’t it an utterly refreshing exercise? Doesn’t it make you sweat a lot?"
Oh, thank you very much!
As Shane rolled his eyes at this, Nadura, who had been observing all this, began to sparkle in her eyes.
"The "Primordial Demon" again?"
A cold light flickered in Nadura’s eyes.
"Looks like I need to monitor this forest a bit."
