Chapter 411: 404 "It’s totally messed up...
"Viscount Beizut has returned to the Royal Capital!"
When this news emerged, within less than ten minutes, it had spread throughout the streets and alleys of the Royal Capital.
Many had witnessed You Lin returning to the Royal Capital, flying towards the center of the Noble District; this news was effortless to spread.
Upon learning this news, everyone, whether intentionally or unintentionally, rushed toward the direction of the Beizut house.
Especially the young masters of noble families, almost all of them appeared truly desperate, hurrying towards the Beizut house.
"Duels!"
"Duels!"
"Duels!"
In a short time, this thought had rooted in the hearts of almost all the young masters from the noble families.
Uncertain whether it was out of unwillingness, indignation, or perhaps to prove themselves no less than this rumored viscount, their thoughts heated up, and anything could have happened.
Especially those who had already gathered at the gate of the Beizut house, seeing Shane return, all were excessively excited, even thinking about breaking through the doors to storm into the Beizut house.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t even come close.
"Roar——!!!"
Above the Beizut house, right in front of the gate, a black dragon with flapping dragon wings hovered, letting out an earth-shaking roar at everyone present.
The roar turned into a powerful gale, sweeping forward, causing the young masters from noble families and even commoners to scream and cry out in pain, either staggering or simply falling to the ground, looking as terrified and furious as if they were facing a Category 12 typhoon.
You Lin guardedly secured the Beizut’s mansion; anyone attempting to approach was immediately greeted by a thunderous roar.
In such a situation, everyone looked at the terrifying Black Dragon, swallowing hard, completely intimidated on the spot, their faces ghostly pale.
Clearly, in front of the renowned Artlu Black Dragon, even if their spirits were high and proud, they felt utterly powerless against this dragon.
Thus, whether nobles or commoners, they no longer dared to approach the Beizut house.
But though people couldn’t approach, their voices still could.
Hence, one after another, the young masters from noble families, while suppressing their inner panic, gritted their teeth and began to speak out one after another.
"We want to see Viscount Beizut!"
"Let Viscount Beizut come out!"
"Viscount Beizut! Come out!"
"Do you exist to merely... ugh! Have the audacity to gain the favor of the Princess! Don’t you have the guts to come out?"
"Come out and duel with me!"
"I must prove to the Princess that I’m more suitable than you!"
"Come out!"
"Come out!"
Such shouts of abuse continuously arose, filling the area with curses.
This was quite displeasing to You Lin.
A group of human ants, daring to taunt their master?
You Lin really wanted to unleash a breath of dragon fire and settle them all.
But Shane had instructed You Lin when positioning her at the gate that unless someone attempted to force entry, absolutely no one there could be harmed.
Given this, You Lin could only intimidate those humans at the door, her dragon breath churning like flames in her mouth, ready to burst out any moment, causing many to tremble in fear.
If it had been another time, with a dragon issuing such a warning, people would have run as far as they could.
However, this time, not only the bold and reckless commoners but even the normally timid young masters sustained their fears and continued shouting.
Clearly, these people were absolutely unwilling to just turn away and leave.
As news spread, crowds from various corners of the Royal Capital gradually converged here, making the front of the Beizut house incredibly lively.
...
Meanwhile, Shane had already returned to the mansion with his group.
"Shane!"
"Mr. Shane!"
Vivian, Tielle, Lu Muya, and Merica, who seemed to have received the news of Shane’s return, came out of the mansion at the first opportunity, gathering before Shane, showing both shock and joy.
"Big Sister!"
"Big Sister!"
The servants and maids were equally moved to tears by Lasha’s return, their immense excitement making Shane almost doubt who the true owner of the place was, him or Lasha.
Of course, everyone also noticed the young girls who had returned with Shane.
Ai Yi and Lasha naturally needed no introduction, everyone recognized them.
But upon seeing Laischa and Lilith, everyone was taken aback.
"Someone... someone who looks exactly like Miss Lasha...!?"
"Could it be...!?"
Lu Muya and Merica covered their mouths in surprise.
"They...?"
Tielle also turned to look at Laischa and Lilith, frowning.
Vivian, upon seeing Laischa was similarly astonished, her expression becoming serious as she probably guessed Laischa’s identity.
Previously, when in the outskirts of Lamijion, members of Vivian’s Team had seen Lasha and knew her relations; now seeing the identical-looking Laischa, they naturally recognized her identity at once.
But when Vivian saw Lilith, her eyes suddenly trembled, staring fixedly at her, unable to look away.
Lilith’s gaze also swept over everyone present, finally resting on Vivian, and for some reason, she did not shift her eyes away.
Laischa smiled openly at everyone.
"Nice to meet you all."
Laischa said cheerfully.
Last time, on the outskirts of Lamijion, Laischa only wanted to meet Shane and didn’t want to meet the members of Vivian’s Team who had joined Shane, so she had forcibly relocated Vivian and the others.
Thanks to that, this was indeed the first time Laischa appeared face-to-face in front of Vivian and the others; previously, she had only observed Shane from the shadows and incidentally learned of their existence.
This was genuinely the first real meeting between Laischa and Vivian’s Team.
Thus, Vivian and her teammates looked at each other, seemingly unsure of how to react.
Normally, Shane would have tried to resolve the situation.
But now, Shane just wanted to understand what was going on.
"What in the world is going on here?" Shane asked Vivian and the others, "I was only gone a few days. Why does everyone treat me like I killed their father when I got back?"
Shane’s confused words somehow eased the slightly eerie atmosphere that had developed.
Vivian and the others went back to normal, looked at the bewildered Shane, and couldn’t help but laugh.
"If you had come back a few days later, they really might have treated you as their father’s killer."
Vivian teased him.
"In fact, to those nobles, you are probably more detestable than their father’s killer right now."
Tielle couldn’t help but add.
"How have I offended them?" Shane said, feeling wronged, "Is it really that big of a deal?"
Is it really that big of a deal?
It really is!
Vivian and the others all looked at Shane with strange expressions.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Shane felt guilty under their gazes and could only bluster, "I haven’t done anything to offend so many people, you know?"
Well, deny first, no matter what.
Although, Shane himself didn’t know whether he had done anything that might offend the whole Royal Capital.
Unaware of what Shane was thinking, Vivian and the others just chuckled to each other.
"Look, Shane," Vivian patted Shane’s shoulder, "don’t worry, it’s a good thing."
"A good thing?" Shane couldn’t help but be stunned.
"Indeed, it’s a good thing," Tielle said indifferently, as though it was of no consequence to her, "at least, it is for you."
"A good thing for me?" Shane frowned.
While Lu Muya and Merica’s reactions were different from Vivian and Tielle’s—one subtly impressed, the other seemingly aggrieved—Shane was utterly confused.
At this point, Ai Yi, who had been silent till now, seemed somewhat impatient for some reason.
"Since it’s a good thing, there’s no need for me here then. I’m going back to my room to sleep."
Ai Yi turned to leave, seemingly in a bad mood.
"Lady Lilith, let’s go check out the room too."
Lasha had come back, seemingly having slipped away at some point to quietly gather firsthand information from the surrounding servants and maids. Now, seeming to know the whole story, she took the equally puzzled Lilith away.
"It looks kind of interesting, but it probably has nothing to do with me. I’ll let Lasha choose a room for me too."
Laischa seemed utterly unconcerned, or rather seemed to enjoy seeing Shane frantically trying to understand, cheerfully leaving.
"Wait..."
Shane wanted to stop them, but upon reflection, decided to sort out the situation here first.
Seeing this, Vivian and the others decided not to keep him in suspense.
"Actually, not long ago, the Kingdom spread the word throughout the Human Realm, claiming it was to choose a suitor for Princess Luoqi."
Tielle bluntly threw out the truth.
"Say what?"
The abrupt news stunned Shane.
Choosing a suitor?
Princess Luoqi wants a suitor?
Why?
Shane was bewildered.
What bewildered him more was what everyone said next.
"It’s true, Mr. Shane."
Lu Muya, as if worried Shane wouldn’t believe it, hastily said.
"I... We were also shocked when we found out..."
Merica’s tone became increasingly aggrieved, like a child who had their favorite toy stolen, utterly disheartened.
"Then... then why are they so hostile towards me?"
Shane began to get a bad feeling.
Sure enough...
"Because the Kingdom has declared that you, Viscount Shane Beizut, are the first priority candidate for Princess Luoqi’s husband."
Vivian’s words made Shane’s mouth twitch.
In his heart, there was only one thought left.
"I’m screwed..."
