Chapter 645: Devastating War

"No...!" Shen Nianzu cut him off anxiously. "You... get out of there! Da Shen and I... waiting outside—"

"LISTEN TO ME!" Gu Luoxin burst out, startling the other person into a stunned silence.

Had this been in any other situation, he would have been amazed at his own courage, daring to cut off his big boss in such a crude manner. Perhaps he might even regret it if he came back to his senses later. Alas, now there was no room for distraction in Gu Luoxin’s mind. His sole focus was to relay everything he had seen and heard—the rest could come later! He was so anxious that he could cry!

And cry he did. Tears streamed a river down his face as he choked out in a nasal tone, "Young Master Ares and the doctor... they’re planning to collapse the whole island at any moment!" Fearing that his message wouldn’t come across clearly to Shen Nianzu with the horrible signal, he tried to emphasize with simpler words, "The whole island... falling down! It’s gonna crash on the land below!"

"What!" came the shocked response from Shen Nianzu.

"Young Master Ares wants the whole world to be destroyed! While the doctor..." halfway through, an earthquake suddenly hit, causing the ground beneath him to tremble.

The violent tremor knocked him off his feet and he tumbled to the ground with a startled cry. His slender frame trembled, eyes wide in panic and shimmering tears. Was it starting now? Had Master Grinu finally died? Was this the moment when the island would begin to fall from the sky?

And yet despite the terror numbing his mind, his mouth still moved unconsciously, powered by sheer willpower, "The doctor is not an ordinary NPC, but a nightmare creature from another realm! His goal is to present this world to the Nightmare as an energy source! The Nightmare is going to descend soon after the world is on the brink of destruction! Xiao Shen, that’s the weakness we have been searching for!"

Gritting his teeth, Gu Luoxin climbed back to his feet amidst the violent tremor around him and stumbled out of the room, rushing toward the exit of the courtyard. "Xiao Shen, you and Da Shen... have to stop it!"

"This world can’t be destroyed, or else...!"

Unbeknownst to Gu Luoxin, the Sky territory had already been surrounded by troops from both the humans and sirens since hours ago. With a single command from Master Nasser, a bomb dropped on one of the outer cities, engulfing it in a pillar of flame.

As chaos and destruction spread, Master Nasser gave his ultimatum. "Grinu, surrender yourself or your people won’t be spared! You do not wish to see the Garuda race cease to exist with you today, do you?"

Following the ultimatum, a legion of elite garuda warriors rose in defense, launching themselves into the sky to meet the invading forces head-on. They clashed midair with the human and siren troops, painting the sky in smoke, fire, and blood.

Grinu himself did not appear, which was well within Nasser’s expectations. That guy had never been the self-sacrificing kind. He would only act to secure his own benefits. But Nasser was not in a hurry. With the power of the sirens by his side, it was only a matter of time until the garudas had no choice but to kneel and beg him for mercy.

Every hour, Nasser would command a bomb to be dropped in a random city on the floating island, sending both the common people and unfortunate players fleeing in terror and more dying in the explosions. The sudden devastating war caught these people off guard, and they frantically surged to the Master of the Sky’s residence, banging on the towering gates that stretched so high they seemed to scrape the heavens.

"Master Grinu, please... do something!"

"Save us! Please save us!"

"Help, my child is dying... help her!"

"Master Grinu!!!"

And yet despite all the commotion, Master Grinu still did not show up, even his shadow was nowhere to be found.

In the command ship, Master Nasser furrowed his brows. "He couldn’t have left his people and escaped by himself, could he?" he couldn’t help but sneer at the mere thought of such cowardice.

The soldier behind him reported in a crisp tone, "Second Young Master has been covertly monitoring his residence, and according to him, Grinu has not been spotted. It seems like he’s still hiding in there, Sir."

"Hmph," Nasser turned up his nose with a disdainful harrumph at the mention of his troublemaker second son. "At least he still knows how to make himself useful. Relay my message to him: if Grinu still hasn’t shown up by midnight, destroy the main city. Let’s see how long he can hide."

"Roger, Sir!"

Master Nasser shifted his gaze to the breathtaking scenery seen through the panoramic window before him. The garuda territory was everything the land was no longer; ancient heritage buildings stood proudly among natural cliffs and cascading waterfalls, producing countless scenic spots that were extremely pleasing to the eye. And the sheer magnificence of it all was even more striking when viewed from above, like a magical place suspended between the sky and clouds.

Soon... Master Nasser’s eyes gleamed with unconcealed greed. Soon, everything will be mine.

Had Master Nasser known that his supposedly trustworthy second son was monitoring the Master of the Sky’s residence for his own benefits, perhaps he might have spat out blood in anger. Not only that, he even had the gall to smuggle a siren onto his aircraft!

"Woah, look at how tall the walls are—tsk tsk," he clicked his tongue in a mix of awe and wonder. "Why did he build a house like this? It looks more like a prison! And ugh, can you smell it, Nian’er?"

"What?" Shen Nianzu replied in an absentminded tone, clearly distracted.

"It stinks of rot! Like hundreds, thousands of unwashed stinky socks in summer!" Jin Jiuchi pinched his nose with a wrinkled face. "Yuck, how does Xinxin manage to stay there for so long?!" When no answer came from Shen Nianzu, he turned to find the jade doll fiddling with the communication earpiece, his brows knitted in concern.

"How is it? Still can’t reach Xinxin?"

"Mn," Shen Nianzu let out a heavy sigh and rubbed his temple. "Gosh, I’m so worried. Just what is happening inside? He has a life-saving prop and a healing prop with him, so he should be okay for the time being, right?" he wondered out loud, it was unknown whether he was really asking Jin Jiuchi or simply trying to reassure himself.

The two of them communicated with Noir on and off, who was unlucky enough to be stationed in the frontline. But Noir’s opinion was similar to Shen Nianzu, which was to not beat the grass and startle the snake for the time being.

"Keep calling him for now," the emerald-eyed man instructed.

The three of them were concerned for the missing Gu Luoxin, but not to the point of losing their minds, partly because they still had confidence in Gu Luoxin’s strength and partly because they were all nearby. They believed that should an unexpected situation arise, they could react at once and rescue Gu Luoxin out of there.

Yet the truth turned out to be more, much more horrible than they had expected.
