Chapter 472: A Huge Misunderstanding?
Chapter 472: A Huge Misunderstanding?
As she succumbed to the darkness inside her mind, she felt an unexpected sense of relief. It was easier to hate than to love, the same way as how sadness proved to be a more familiar companion than happiness. Soon, all her negative emotions morphed into a seething cauldron of hatred, malice, and disgust that cast a damned shadow over this very town she lived in.
Her husband, the nobles who always regarded her with a condescending look, the ladies who vied for her position... every single person who contributed to her despair and suffering, she was going to make them pay!
But at the last moment when she was about to unleash her fury upon the town, Lumina showed up to thwart her plans!
"I won’t allow this!" Her voice rang out, her eyes ablazed with resolution as a brilliant burst of light erupted from her body. "I won’t stand by and watch as you harm this town!"
To suppress her, Lumina infused her magic into every glass slipper object scattered throughout the town, transforming them into enchanted artifacts that restrained the Queen’s malevolent power. Though Lumina’s efforts were valiant, they were not enough to fully seal the Queen’s darkness. She could only bind the Queen within the confines of the palace before her strength waned.
But in a final act of defiance, the Queen managed to curse her husband, reducing him into a small, filthy, and loathsome creature shunned by all.
Due to her magic running out, Lumina couldn’t escape in time and ended up being held captive, while Caen barely escaped with his life hanging by a thread. Everything should have turned out better from there on, after all she managed to keep Lumina by her side even if she had to do it by force, but then something happened that totally devastated her.
Her glass slippers... the first magical item and amulet given to her by Lumina, her source of comfort and warmth, and the reminder of the happiness she once had... were gone. They vanished into thin air one day, and she could not find it anywhere!
The loss struck her harder than the betrayals of Lumina and Caen combined, driving her to the brink of madness as each day passed without their presence.
In her despair, the mysterious voice returned once more, tempting her, "You want to find your glass slippers, do you not?"
She didn’t even need to think twice before answering, "Yes! Do you know a way to retrieve them?!"
"Indeed, there is," it replied vaguely, "But this time, my help comes at a cost. What are you willing to offer in return?"
"Anything..." she hissed, her desperation palpable. "I will give you anything you desire!"
"Very well," the voice laughed softly yet sinisterly, though it was utterly lost to her distraught self.
And thus she waited, waited and waited. Her attachment to the glass slippers had long become her obsession that tied her to this place, and tonight, she finally achieved her goal. The shoes had appeared before her once more!
With their presence by her side, there was nothing more holding her back from destroying this damned town once and for all!

Outside the palace.
Six and the other players were busy running all around the town to subdue the NPCs who ran amok. With the help of Six’s skill card capable of inducing sleep to a group of people and their coordinated teamwork, they managed to regain some semblance of control amidst the chaos.
However, the situation took an abrupt turn as the air grew thick and oppressive, weighing down on them so heavily that they collapsed to the ground.
To their horror, the glass slipper statues they had worked so hard to safeguard began shattering one by one, crushed under an unseen force!
"Damn it!" Swallowing the blood that welled up in her throat, Six struggled to rise to her feet, her gaze fixated on the palace whose structures were trembling ominously as though it was about to crumble apart at any moment."What the hell is going on in there?! If this continues, then..."
They will all be doomed!
Meanwhile, inside the ballroom.
Slowly but surely, the evil Queen was regaining her strength, while the players remained ensnared in a maelstrom of sorrow, hatred, and despair so overwhelming that they struggled to extricate themselves.
Less powerful players like Xiao Zhong and Old Tao were crying so hard one would think their entire family had been murdered. On the other hand, Shen Nianzu was also gasping for breath, barely regaining his composure as he told himself again and again that these emotions were not his own.
Through tear-blurred eyes, he stretched out his hands to hug the fluffy neck above him, belonging to none other than Jin Jiuchi who had transformed at the last moment as the dark shadows descended, shielding Shen Nianzu’s body from head to toe. Perhaps that was the reason why Shen Nianzu found himself not as affected as the others.
"How are you holding up?" Shen Nianzu asked in a thick nasal voice. "Your SAN value..."
The massive pure white beast released a faint whimper and intended to comfort Shen Nianzu by licking his tears away, but in the end it only resulted in him covering the jade doll’s face in slobber, his fluffy tail wagging in excitement.
Annoyed yet amused in equal measure, Shen Nianzu turned his head and pushed away Jin Jiuchi’s wet snout. "Okay, stop it. I know you’re fine now." Propping himself up to a sitting position, he surveyed the scene of devastation before him, inquiring, "What about Noir? And the mouse he was holding... it should be Xinxin, right?"
Jin Jiuchi lazily licked his paw and pointed in a certain direction where the figure of Noir could be seen sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall.
"Ciit ciit ciit!!" Gu Luoxin scrambled to climb onto Noir’s clothes and pressed his tiny paws against the man’s face, tears pooling in his eyes. His heart sank heavily in his chest when he realized that the man was still unconscious, his eyelids sealed tightly.
"Oh no!" His entire mouse panicked. "W–What should I do ciit?!"
"You don’t have to worry meow," Lucius, who had appeared at some point of time, chimed in listlessly. He did not seem to be in great spirits. "He will be fine. He’s just not used to processing such heavy emotions. It has always been his weakness meow."
Without waiting for the brown mouse’s response, Lucius continued to ask, "So what message do you want me to convey to him meow?"
"Oh!" Gu Luoxin was immediately distracted as he whipped his head to the evil Queen whose size had swelled a few times over. He gulped nervously, "I hope I’m reading this right, but... this seems to be a misunderstanding— a huge misunderstanding ciit! We have to let the Queen see that things may not be as they appear!"
