When the Wild Beast is Trapped in the Nightmare Cycle (BL) -
Chapter 172: Requiem Of The Reaper
Chapter 172: Requiem Of The Reaper
The first one to panic was, of course, Gu Luoxin. "Oh no, what should we do?!" He glanced at the bathroom where the mermaid was hiding. "The crew is going to find her! We need to move her to another place!"
In contrast, the other three remained remarkably calm. Jin Jiuchi suggested, "Should we tie them up and throw them down to the sea?"
Noir chimed in nonchalantly, "Kill them."
Jin Jiuchi added another suggestion, "Or we can throw the mermaid into the sea and fish her out again later?"
Noir pondered for a while and nodded, "Not bad."
Shen Nianzu frowned and shot down their ideas one by one, "No, we can’t kill the crew members. It would raise too much suspicion to us. We can’t throw her back into the sea either. This is the fifth floor, we don’t have a long enough tool to haul her back. Besides, who’s to say that she will not swim away and avoid the ship? We would lose her for good by then." He chewed on his bottom lip and racked his brain for an idea. "The crew members are still at the mouth of the hallway. It should still be a while until they arrive here. For now, we have to—"
Knock knock!
A knock on their door interrupted Shen Nianzu’s words, causing him to fall silent in an instant. Shock flashed across the four players’ eyes. Weren’t the crew members still quite a distance just now?! How did they reach here so quickly?!
"Xiao Shen, they’re here!" Gu Luoxin was so stressed out that he nearly tore off his hair. He whispered urgently in a hushed voice, "Didn’t you say there is still a while?!"
Shen Nianzu’s sharp gaze was pinned to the door as though he could see the person on the other side. "Impossible," he spat out slowly. "How could they have arrived so fast?
"Room service!" A voice called from outside the door.
They looked at each other in dismay. None of them had ordered room service, as they had been preoccupied with the mermaid until now.
Indeed, the person outside was not a staff from the ship, but Scarred Man.
He had not joined along on the upper deck and opted to observe from the ninth floor instead, and hence he had witnessed Gu Luoxin and Noir carrying the mermaid with them. He had deliberately trailed after them and waited until this moment to knock on the door, when the crew members were nearby.
He couldn’t help but sneer. Want to hog the rewards all for themselves? Not a chance!
He had heard of the rumors about Atlantis being a land of buried treasure. Thus, when the main task’s prompt came out, he immediately connected it to the core NPC’s home. Who wouldn’t know that the player who attributed the most to the task would receive the best rewards from the core NPC? That’s why he planned to subdue these players first and let the crew members capture the mermaid. He would let the mermaid suffer for a day before rescuing her. This way, she would feel more indebted to him and naturally share the best resources.
It was too bad that Lily couldn’t join him because of the side effects of her skill card. She would be lethargic during the day and grew more powerful as the night descended. But it was okay, he believed he could handle these players with his unique and powerful skill card.
Not receiving a response from within, Scarred Man pounded on the door again and raised his voice, loud enough to draw the attention of the crew in the distance, "Why aren’t you opening the door? Are you hiding the mermaid inside?!"
A sinister glint flashed through his eyes when he saw the crew members taking notice of the commotion and making their way to him.
—Alas, if only Lily had come with him, she would have been able to identify Shen Nianzu and Noir, both of whom were players he could not afford to offend. Not to mention, there was also Jin Jiuchi and his heaven-defying nose.
Inside the room, Jin Jiuchi sniffed the air a few times and wrinkled his nose, "This smell... ugh, it’s the same smell that lingered on the corpses last night!"
"What?" Gu Luoxin was alarmed and colors drained from his face, as he still recalled Shen Nianzu’s grave warning about the crazy female player. "Are you saying that the one behind the door is Lily?!"
"No," Noir shook his head. "There is only one person."
Since the voice belonged to a man, the person knocking on their door could only be Lily’s teammate. Damn it, he must have found out that they were hiding the mermaid!
Faint commotion could be heard outside the room as a crew member asked politely, "Is there something wrong, Sir?"
Scarred Man immediately changed his tune, "This is my friend’s room. He has not opened the door even after I knocked for a while, so I suspect something has happened to him. What if the mermaid is hiding inside?!"
Gu Luoxin’s expression twisted and he cursed under his breath, "Shameless!" That man lied straight through his teeth without an ounce of nervousness at all. He even made him, this musical theatre student, ashamed of his own skill!
There was no time to waste. The crew members had started to get suspicious and might forcibly open the door at any moment. Just then, Noir suddenly spoke up, "I will take her."
Shen Nianzu was taken aback, "You...?"
"There is nowhere to hide inside the ship, and going underwater is not feasible either so..." Noir blinked and placed the black cat on his shoulder. "What about the sky?"
Before anyone could react, Noir strode toward the bathroom. Ariel’s shriek sounded for a split second before it was abruptly cut off, and then Noir returned with an unconscious mermaid in his arms.
Gu Luoxin was both worried and anxious, "What do you mean by hiding on the sky? You..." He choked on the rest of his words as a mystical scene unfolded before his eyes.
Something began to protrude from Noir’s back. At first, they resembled thick antennas, ivory in color with traces of flesh and blood clinging to them. But then, like an unfurling scroll, they transformed into a pair of bone wings, spanning almost a meter in length. They appeared sharp and lethal, yet also shimmering with an almost sinister glow, simultaneously beautiful and ominous. The bone wings stood in stark contrast to Noir’s angelic features, creating a captivating contradiction.

Skill Description: Within his being, a silent hymn of death echoed. Soaring through the air, he will hum this eternal requiem, and all beings of darkness shall submit to his call.
Noir tilted his head to nod at them, then with a flap of his wings, he flew out of the open window and vanished within a blink of an eye, leaving only a gust of harsh wind on his wake that for some reason, sounded like a haunting tune.
