Shen Nianzu was stumped when Noir, Jin Jiuchi and Gu Luoxin shook their heads in response to his question, similarly astounded.

Jin Jiuchi dug into his ear and exclaimed cheerfully, "Well, unless my ears are broken, she sounds like a broken bird." As soon as he said that, perhaps sensing that she was being insulted, Ariel let out a series of unintelligible noises from her mouth which, if they could be honest, truly sounded like a broken bird.

However, what entered Shen Nianzu’s ears was, "Are you sure you humans have no bad intentions against me?! Then why is that human over there looking at me with such a strange gaze as if... as if he is looking at a prey?!" She screamed at Jin Jiuchi, almost hysterical. "Get away! Get away from me!"

Shen Nianzu: "..."

Aside from boundless curiosity, Princess Ariel also possessed a sharp survival instinct. At a glance, she knew that Jin Jiuchi wanted to eat her. How awesome.

"What?" Jin Jiuchi was utterly dumbfounded. "Why does she look so scared at me? Ain’t I very gentle and friendly?"

Meanwhile, subtle lines appeared between Noir’s brows. This creature’s voice was very sharp and unpleasant to the ears. If he had to describe it, then it was like someone scratching their nails on a chalkboard right beside his ears. Noir had a mild temperament and was not easily angered, but if there was one thing that could irk him, then it was this type of sound. Even Lucius, his black cat companion, had its fur raised as it bared its teeth at Ariel. Noir took a step forward, intending to shut the fish up for a while, but then Ariel’s azure eyes shifted to him, widening in utter dread and horror.

"T–That evil creature!" She pointed at Lucius, her expression twisted as if she had encountered her greatest nemesis. "Help aaah! Keep that repulsive creature away from me!"

It seemed that in every universe, the law of the food chain would always exist. As a half-fish creature, she had an instinctual fear towards cats as they could potentially devour her.

Noir stared at her for a while, then took a decisive step forward and presented the black cat to her. Lucius also acted in tandem as it bared its teeth and brandished its sharp fangs, scaring Ariel so much that she almost overturned the whole tub.

Noir: "Hehe."

Shen Nianzu stared at Noir’s back, speechless. Even though he could not see Noir’s face, just from that evil chuckle alone, he knew that the man’s expression must look extremely sinister right now. Who could have imagined that the aloof and expressionless Noir had a sadistic side to him?

In the end, for the sake of the core NPC’s mental health, Noir, Lucius and Jin Jiuchi were promptly kicked out of the bathroom. Shen Nianzu remained inside to communicate, whereas Gu Luoxin was still hovering on the doorway, unable to cross the barrier in his heart.

Outside the bathroom, Jin Jiuchi and Noir stared at each other, each revealing a hint of pity in their eyes. One was so aggressively handsome that people could not maintain eye contact with him for long, while the other possessed an aloof and unique charm that would attract eyes everywhere, like a leisurely cat that invited people to touch it.

When they stood face to face, it created an incredibly enchanting image, like two splashes of contrastingly different color that came together to form a harmony. Yet for some reason, there was also an unspeakable tension between their gazes.

Gu Luoxin snuck a few glances at them and gulped. W–What’s with the tension in the air? Was this the so-called natural conflict between two Alpha males? T–They wouldn’t start fighting out of nowhere, would they?!

Just as this thought crossed Gu Luoxin’s mind, he saw Jin Jiuchi reach into his pocket and retrieve the mirror fragment wrapped in cloth. Gu Luoxin’s eyes widened in alarm. He was ready to jump between them and act as a mediator when he heard Jin Jiuchi say,

Noir cast a faint look at the nightmare creature inside the mirror, then holding Lucius by the armpit, he lifted the black cat in front of the mirror. In an instant, the creature inside leaped to his feet and scrambled away, albeit it could not run far before reaching the edge of the mirror. It could only huddle in the corner while covering its head, frightened half to death by the black cat.

Jin Jiuchi and Noir leaned in close, their heads pressed together as they peered into the mirror, like a pair of mischievous school boys secretly looking at some forbidden books.

Noir: "Hehe."

Jin Jiuchi: "Hahahaha!"

Gu Luoxin: "..." He truly did not understand the friendship between Great Gods, thank you so much.

Fortunately, before Gu Luoxin’s three views were shattered, Shen Nianzu stepped out of the bathroom while massaging his temples. In a flash, Jin Jiuchi pocketed the mirror and stood up straight, beaming from ear to ear, "Nian’er, you are done?"

Shen Nianzu gave him a suspicious look, but he quickly focused his attention on the matter at hand. "I have finished questioning her. If I’m not mistaken, then her home should be Atlantis, our main destination. She also promised that she will reward us generously if we escort her back safely."

"Reward?" Gu Luoxin perked up. "Are they the treasures you spoke about?"
