Chapter 132: Fetch Someone

The following morning, Shen Nianzu was discharged from the hospital once the doctor gave him a clear. He immediately told Jin Jiuchi that they would be having hotpot for lunch. After enduring three days of porridge, energy bars, dried fruits, nuts and seeds, they deserved a sumptuous meal at the very least.

"Hotpot! Lamb! Mutton! Beef! Fish balls!" Jin Jiuchi cheered, his mouth already watering at the thought of the flavorful and spicy soup. He eagerly strapped the seatbelt over himself and turned to ask Shen Nianzu beside him, unable to contain his excitement. "Nian’er, are we going to the hotpot restaurant now? I can’t wait!"

Shen Nianzhu cast him a speechless look. Why did this husky act as if he had been starved for days when they had just finished breakfast two hours ago? Furthermore, he had polished off the portion for three people, and he would have still continued if not for the doctor who dropped by to check on Shen Nianzu!

Shen Nianzu clicked his own seatbelt into place and started the car. "Later," he said. Before Jin Jiuchi could protest, he quickly added, "We’re going to fetch someone first."

"Huh? Someone else is joining us for lunch? Who?"

"You will see," Shen Nianzu replied mysteriously as he drove away from the hospital. Unlike his fragile appearance from the previous day, he was now dressed in a classy and elegant deep purple satin blouse with puffy sleeves. The hem of his blouse had been tucked into his slim-fit trousers, further accentuating his slender waist. The longer Jin Jiuchi looked, the more he realized that every inch of him was flawless.

"What’s on your mind?" Shen Nianzu asked upon noticing his silence.

"You," Jin Jiuchi answered with all honesty. He leaned closer and whispered with a smile, "Nian’er is so pretty today. How can Nian’er get prettier each day?"

"Wha—" Shen Nianzu almost choked on his breath. It was fortunate that the street was relatively empty in the morning, otherwise he would have crashed into another car. He snapped angrily, "Can you not say something like that all of a sudden? I’m driving!"

Jin Jiuchi compromised in a heartbeat, "Okay, Nian’er. I will give you a heads-up next time!"

Shen Nianzu sputtered, "That’s not what I— forget it." He let out an exasperated sigh. There was no stopping Jin Jiuchi once he made up his mind. This silly husky would always find a way to make him cave in, just like how he had gradually invaded Shen Nianzu’s personal space and got him accustomed to his close presence all the time.

Twenty minutes later, Shen Nianzu drove past a huge gate and Jin Jiuchi craned his neck to read the sign on the front wall – Jinhai Academy of Arts and Music.

"Academy?" Jin Jiuchi wondered out loud. "Is that the same as school, Nian’er? The place where a group of people are locked in different rooms to be indoctrinated?"

This time, Shen Nianzu was truly rendered speechless. "Where did you hear something like that from?" Assuming that Jin Jiuchi had never attended school before, he took it upon himself to explain it in simple terms that even a child could understand. "School is a place where kids go to learn when they are young, whereas college... hmm, just take it as a type of school for older students who want to study specific subjects in detail, do you get it? As for this place, it’s specialized in teaching arts and music, like painting, musical theater, fashion design, filmmaking, and so on."

"Wow..." Jin Jiuchi exclaimed softly, as he always held fascination for things he had never seen and heard before. He looked out of the window and noticed a few people his age strolling around the campus grounds. Some were in a hurry, while others leisurely chatted and laughed in a group of two or three. In Jin Jiuchi’s eyes, they exuded a certain glow that bedazzled his eyes. "They seem so free," he murmured under his breath.

It was the radiance of freedom he had always yearned for.

"What did you say?" Shen Nianzu missed his words, as he was focused on finding an empty parking spot.

"No, nothing." Jin Jiuchi shook his head. He turned to Shen Nianzu and asked, "What are we coming here for, Nian’er?" He suddenly thought of something and covered his mouth in shock, "Wait, am I going to attend this school?!"

Shen Nianzu rolled his eyes. "Didn’t you hear me say that we’re here to fetch someone?"

He chose an empty space near the dormitory and smoothly parked his car. Turning off the engine, he opened the dashboard and retrieved a mask for Jin Jiuchi, along with a low-brimmed hat and glasses for himself. "Wear your mask properly," he instructed. "I checked last night and saw that your video is no longer trending, but we can’t lower our guard down. It’s the millennial people we are talking about here. It will be a hassle if you get recognized."

Jin Jiuchi secured the mask over his face and asked, "How do I look?"

Shen Nianzu clicked his tongue when he noticed a messy tuft of hair sticking out near Jin Jiuchi’s ear where the mask string had pressed it. "Come here," he pulled Jin Jiuchi closer and reached out to smooth his hair. When his fingers brushed against the earlobes, Jin Jiuchi shuddered and shrunk away, but Shen Nianzu, oblivious of the effect his touch had, tugged on Jin Jiuchi’s earlobe and scolded with a frown, "Stay still. Why do you keep moving around?"

"But, Nian’er..." Jin Jiuchi mumbled. "It’s ticklish."

It was only then that Shen Nianzu noticed how close they had become. At such proximity, he could see the baby hairs on Jin Jiuchi’s face and the wild flutter of his thick lashes. For a second there, he was tempted to brush his fingers against those lashes to confirm if they were as soft as they looked, but fortunately he managed to hold himself back in the nick of time. He quickly fixed Jin Jiuchi’s hair and pulled back, clearing his throat, "Okay, you’re fine now. Let’s go." He put on the glasses and hat, then got down from the car.

Though they had taken a preventive measure, Shen Nianzu found that they still attracted quite a lot of attention, for none other than the striking color of his silver hair and Jin Jiuchi’s proportional figure which was further emphasized by the branded clothes Shen Nianzu had bought for him.

Out of the corner of his eye, Shen Nianzu saw three girls whispering to each other before gathering the courage to approach them. Without hesitation, he grabbed Jin Jiuchi’s wrist and briskly walked toward the dormitory, leaving the girls behind.

"Nian’er?" came Jin Jiuchi’s confused voice from behind. "It seems like they want to ask us something..."

"Ignore them," Shen Nianzu replied coldly. They reached the five-story male dormitory building, and Shen Nianzu approached the dorm keeper auntie. He took off his glasses and flashed a business smile, "Hello, auntie. We’re looking for Gu Luoxin. Can we come in?"

The auntie was instantly captivated by Shen Nianzu’s charm. It took her two full seconds to react. "G–Gu Luoxin? Ohh, Student Gu! Sure, he’s on the third floor. Would you like me to call him down?" She reckoned that these two men should be talent scouts hunting for fresh faces. Such practices were not uncommon in the academy, as renowned producers would occasionally visit to recruit extras for their films. Though this was the first time she had seen recruiters who dropped by the dormitory directly...

"No, that won’t be necessary. We will just go to his room. Thank you, Auntie." Shen Nianzu maintained his smile until he and Jin Jiuchi entered the dormitory, and only then did he put his glasses on again.

"Gu Luoxin?" Jin Jiuchi allowed himself to be dragged to the third floor as he racked his brain, puzzled. "Do we know such a person?"

His confusion lasted until they reached room number 305, and Shen Nianzu knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" A sluggish and weak voice came from inside. "Is it you, Hanhan? Did you forget the keys again—" The door swung open to reveal a youth in bare bear pajamas. His hair was disheveled and his complexion was still slightly pale. He had an androgynous appearance and could easily be mistaken for a girl, if not the fact that he was in the male dormitory building right now.

Gu Luoxin’s jaws dropped open when he saw the two extremely attractive men standing before him, and he hastily closed his mouth before he could drool. Mind spinning, he asked dizzily, "Uh, you guys are..."

"Gu Luoxin?" Shen Nianzu asked to confirm.

Jin Jiuchi’s gaze went beyond the young man to peer into the room. He caught sight of the well-organized space that was filled with various cyan colored items – cyan bedsheets, cyan plushies, cyan curtain, cyan pens and cyan hairpin...

Wait a moment, that familiar hairpin...!

Realization hit Jin Jiuchi in an instant and he shouted with joy, "Xinxin, is that you?!" He removed his mask and pointed at his own face. "Can you recognize me? It’s me, Da Shen!"

"D–Da Shen?!!" Lighting struck above Gu Luoxin’s head as he gawked at the attractive man who could easily pass as a famous model. His knees abruptly weakened and he had to hold onto the door frame for support. "You’re really Da Shen??" Then, something suddenly clicked in his mind and his eyes flew wider. "Wait a minute, if you’re Da Shen, then he is..." His gaze shifted to the ethereal silver-haired man who looked as if he had come straight out of a manhwa.

Shen Nianzu nodded and calmly dropped another bomb on him, "Nice to meet you. I am Xiao Shen."

Gu Luoxin: "...!!!"
