WHEN THE SEA CALLS -
Chapter 92: Who is the mastermind?
Chapter 92: Who is the mastermind?
Rhea had a lot of thought going on in her mind. She wouldn’t stop wondering if Sasha was the one who dropped the box. And if she was, Rhea could not understand why she would go to such lengths just to make Alan her partner.
Alan doesn’t even want her.
After much thought, Rhea decided she was going to confront Sasha in school the following day and ask her about it.
She should have a good reason to do this. Rhea thought. And that is also the best thing to do. She will also warn her to stop threatening her with stuff like this or she will report her.
Rhea picked up the box from the ground and took it to her room. She needed to keep it away from Celia and their father or they would be worried about her. She went into the bathroom to take her bath and then changed into something comfortable.
Celia wasn’t back yet. Rhea decided to eat some cereal. She headed to the kitchen to get herself some. After she was done eating, she thought of the next thing to do.
Rhea returned to her room to get her assignments done and then returned to the living room to sit. It was a few minutes past six and Celia wasn’t back yet. Her father was not back either.
Rhea began to go through her phone but after a while, she got tired of it. There wasn’t anything for her to do. She decided to make dinner instead. It was to reduce Celia’s work when she finally came back.
But how is she going to do it? Rhea wondered.
She can only cook a few foods. Some of which she can’t boast about making them well. She decided to ask Aquariel for help.
Rhea called Aquariel out and began to ask her a few questions. By the time she was done talking to Aquariel, Rhea realized they might not be able to have an elaborate dinner as she wanted.
"How about you order some of the side dishes?" Aquariel suggested.
"That would be too expensive," Rhea replied.
She had already spent a lot of her pocket money and her savings to prepare a birthday surprise for Celia and also get her birthday gifts.
"I cannot afford to buy them," Rhea added.
"Doyou want to waituntil Celia returns? I think that would be the best idea," Aquariel said.
Rhea agreed that Aquariel was right. She would have to wait for Celia.
How about helping out with a few things. She thoughts. She can cut the veggies.
She decided to call Celia and ask her what she needed help with.
"Hi, sis," Celia said from the other side of the phone. "Do you miss me?"
Rhea rolled her eyes. "I do not miss you. When are you coming back?"
"Soon," Celia answered. "Is there a problem?"
"Not really," Rhea replied. "Is there anything you want me to help you with for dinner?"
"You are bored, right? Why don’t you take a stroll?" Celia asked.
"I don’t want to do that. Just tell me what you need help with."
"Nothing," Celia answered. "I am close by."
"I am cutting the veggies," Rhea answered.
"Please don’t," Celia answered.
"Why would you say that?"
"Can you just wait until I return? I need to watch you."
Rhea shook her head. She is not doing that.
"I am not doing..."
"Then can you at least let Riel help out?" Celia asked.
Who is Riel? Rhea wondered.
"Who is..."
"Riel as on Aquariel," Celia answered.
Rhea scoffed slightly. She actually thought someone different was bearing that. And why would Celia suggest that Aquariel help out? Hasn’t she always told her not to stress her out?
"Did you not always tell me not to stress..."
"Just for today, please," Celia answered. "You are not going to do it well. You might even hurt yourself."
Rhea sighed. "Fine."
"I will send you the list of veggies I will be using for dinner. You can get them from the refrigerator."
"I know that," Rhea answered.
Celia chuckled. "I thought you did not. I will be home soon. See you... Wait. I almost forgot. I saw Sasha a while ago. She asked me to give you a box."
"Did you take the box from her?" Rhea asked.
"I did. Though at first, I did not want to take it from her. Rosa urged me to. She secretly took pictures of Sasha giving the box to me just in case."
"What is in the box?" Rhea asked.
"I haven’t opened it yet. It’s a little box though."
Why will Sasha give a box to Celia? Rhea wondered. What is she up to?
She sighed. "That is fine. We can open it when you get back. I am waiting for you."
"See you when I get back," Celia said.
The call ended and Rhea dropped her phone on the table, waiting for Celia’s message. Celia sent the message and Rhea brought out some veggies according to the ones Celia sent her. Aquariel helped out to cut the veggies. She also taught Rhea how to do them correctly.
"How did you learn this?" Rhea asked. "Is it natural?"
"It’s a secret," Aquariel answered.
"You won’t..."
The doorbell rang and dropped the knife in her hand.
"Do you think Celia is back?" Rhea asked.
"I don’t think so," Aquariel answered. "I can’t feel her."
Rhea furrowed her brows. Then who is at the door? Could it be her Dad?
"Is it my dad then?" Rhea asked.
"He is not the one. I think it’s someone’s water guardian," Aquariel answered.
"How did you know that?" Rhea asked.
"I can feel it. But I don’t know whose water guardian it is."
"Aside from the Aqua, are there other people with water guardians?" Rhea asked.
" Yes. I think only a few though."
Rhea sighed. "I think I should go and check who is at the door."
"Be careful," Aquariel said.
Rhea left the kitchen and went to the living room to open the door. There wasn’t anyone at the door. Just a box. She picked it up. It had the same write-up just like the first one she picked up a while ago.
Rhea began to doubt if it had anything to do with Sasha. She opened it up and it had the same content just like the first one. Rhea wasn’t scared of it this time.
She only sighed. Someone is playing a prank on her but she doesn’t know who. She doesn’t know why either.
She took the box to her room and kept it with the first one.
Why don’t she take pictures of them? She thought.
She went to the kitchen to get her phone.
"Is everything alright?" Aquariel asked.
"Come with me," Rhea answered.
They went to Rhea’s room and she showed Aquariel the boxes she received. Aquariel placed her hands on them.
"What are you doing?" Rhea asked.
"Trying to trace where they came from but I can’t," Aquariel answered. "I will keep trying it through."
Rhea shook her head. That will not be necessary. If Aquariel can’t trace it yet, maybe taking a picture would be better.
"Don’t worry, Aquariel," Rhea said. "I will take pictures of them, for now. We can try it another day."
Rhea took pictures of the two boxes before returning them to the place where she had hidden them.
"Are you going to tell Celia about it?" Aquariel asked.
Rhea shook her head. "I can’t trouble her with that. Let’s go back to the kitchen."
They returned to the kitchen to finish up their work. Celia joined them a few minutes later.
"Hi, Riel." Celia waved.
"Hi." Aquariel waved too.
Rhea frowned. "You are not going to say hi to me?"
Celia smiled. "I thought we talked on the phone? Hi, Rhea."
Rhea ignored her and sat down on one of the kitchen stools. Celia moved closer to the table and smiled.
"You guys did a pretty good job here."
Rhea rolled her eyes. "Thank you, Rhea. You are welcome, Celia."
Celia chuckled. "I was about to say thank you. Why were you so fast about it? I am sure Riel did most of the work."
"Can you stop calling her Riel? It’s Aquariel," Rhea said.
Celia smiled. "Riel is not complaining about it. So chill." Rhea scoffed but said nothing. "Thank you, Rhea. Thank you, Riel," Celia mumbled.
Rhea smiled. "You should have done that earlier. You’re welcome though."
"Time to cook," Celia said. "But first, I need to take a shower and change my clothes." Rhea nodded but said nothing. "But before that," Celia said. "Let’s see what is in the box. I am curious too."
Celia brought out the box from her bag and handed it over to Rhea. Rhea opened the box. Inside the box was a necklace.
"Why will Sasha give you a necklace?" Celia asked.
Rhea shrugged. She doesn’t know.
Rhea brought out the necklace and stared at it.
"Look," Celia mumbled. "There is a note in the box."
Rhea brought out the note and opened it.
"Can you leave Alan for me please?" Rhea read out. "The necklace is a gift. I hope we won’t be enemies anymore."
Rhea furrowed her brows. Sasha sent a necklace because she wants her to leave Alan? Why would she do that after sending her those scary boxes?
"The necklace looks expensive," Celia said. "Do you think she meant it?"
Rhea sighed. She is becoming confused now. Why send a necklace after sending her scary boxes? Is Sasha really the one who sent the boxes? If she is, why is she pretending? And if she is not, who is the one behind it?. Who is the mastermind?
