Aeryon sighed and then said

"I promise you that as long as you are married to me, I would treat you as my wife" he paused for a second, close his eyes for a second, opening it back a second later and then he said "I did not lie when I said that"

" I am giving you a chance. In four or five years, I would let time decide. Whether you could be trusted. Or your tribe could be trusted"

"I do not need another warrior by my side. I do not need another strategist. I need someone who I could share my dreams with. My ambition. Someone who could be a family to me. A mother of my child. A wife of mine. A lover of mine. I do not need.....a spy"

"What if I want to be those things?" she ask.

"Then be"

"But do not be with me"

"I have no need for that. Everything has its role and every role is important. Just because you don’t think it is important doesn’t mean it is not. Too much cook spoil the broth. And you do not need to accept it."

Aeryon sighed for a second and then said

"I have a large ambition. I think you already knows this. This is not something that I hide. I believe your father could see it too"

"But there is also certain other things I want. I want a family. But I want a strong family"

"When I said strong, I do not only mean only the body. I want a son or a daughter who have strong mind, indomitable will and great perseverance. And for that I need someone who could be a strong mother. I would conquer the world for my children and in turn my wife should teach the rulers of the world. And it should be someone who I could trust with my life"

"Why?"

Aeryon understood immediately what Ayera is asking

"Because if I have a child, they would be my legacy. They would be my life. And the world will be the place where they would rule" Aeryon always intended to imitate Genghis Khan feat of conquering the Steppe.

But he never intended to imitate all of Genghis Khan deeds.

He believes that one of the problems of Genghis Khan just like other emperors that began with conquering, that they forgot about their descendant.

They see too far and dream too much. In his world Qin dynasty is destroyed by the second generation.

Genghis Khan dynasty might not be destroyed in two generations but the seeds of that destruction was planted early on.

Aeryon did not only want to create a dynasty of his own.

He wanted to create a shining dynasty that could be an example to future generations.

If he has the system, if he has the abilities if the era had been accommodating why should he not strive for that kind of thing?

A man have to have great ambitions in the world!

This is the perfect era. Just like the times created Genghis Khan, the times is now very kind to Aeryon.

And so, Aeryon look further. It is true that what he is saying to Ayera right now is his justification of not sleeping with her.

But there is also truth in what he is saying

He believes that if he has a son, he need the son to be trained by his mother. And if that mother is someone who wanted to kill him, or scheme against him, how could he be at ease?

A mother has a mother love. But a father also has a father love. And Aeryon is not someone that would like to feud with own sons in his later years.

Maybe all of this panning would be in vain.

But maybe it could also come to the fruition.

This is Aeryon backup plans.

In case something wrong happens, and he could not fulfil the ambition of uniting the Steppe in his lifetime, then his sons would do it for him.

Aeryon then went silence.

Did he not want to implement the system of his time?

They believe that Aeryon has the qualification and fulfil the criteria to be called a Kan.

Aeryon has dozens of smaller tribes under his rule and his influence. And for middle sized tribe, many of them were subjugated or destroyed.

He has tens of thousands of soldiers and countless warriors and commanders under his control

One might ask then why did the Khagai tribe who also has tens of thousands of warriors is not considered as Kan?

Because they did not expand.

And because they are the western border tribes.

In the past, these tribes needs to be elected or acknowledged by the Qayan to be called Kan.

Kan itself means Lord.

Though that is a simplistic translation of the title Kan.

It could be consider the Duke rank if one convert it to the title of nobility of other empires and kingdoms

Kan of the South that is what some of the chief called him. And some of his people also called him that. But Aeryon itself sometime worries about taking this title.

This could be a justification for them to attack his tribe. Not to mention he did not yet rules the entire south. Only after ruling the entire south, would he feel at ease if he uses that title

He also need more allies. It is better to win without fighting. Of course, it is unreasonable to win all the time like that

Not to mention because of the culture of the Great Steppe, such scene of surrounding without a fight is not something that is common.

It could even be said to be very rare.

The Yan empire could do this because they are connected by connections. Scholar families that could exert influence in city lord

Noble families that have connection all over the empire.

But in the Steppe, there is no such thing where one diplomat could go into the tent of some other tribes and convince them to surrender without a fight
