Chapter 1951: Chapter 1952: Contact
"Your bird sure is sleeping deeply."
Rhein glanced towards a nearby bookshelf where a mini wooden bed was placed. Despite the pink lace curtains blocking the view, Rhein could still see Angel’s peculiar little seabird, Toby, lying on the bed.
Earlier, when they arrived in the study, this little bed was placed on the desk. After Angel came in, he immediately moved it to the bookshelf, saying he was concerned Toby might disturb them.
But actually, Rhein could tell that Angel’s true intention was probably to prevent them from disturbing Toby.
At first, Rhein didn’t pay much attention to Toby. They had been talking for quite a while without any cover, even employing some Spell Techniques earlier. With the energetic fluctuations constantly spreading in the space, the fact that the seabird remained asleep piqued Rhein’s curiosity.
"It’s simply immersed in a woven dream, unwilling to wake up," Angel said.
"Oh?" Rhein seemed to have realized something, "You mean, it’s influenced by dream abilities."
"Yes." Angel nodded. The Wilderness of Dreams should have some connection to dream abilities... Barely connecting is still considered connected.
"Speaking of which, I heard Sanders has recently been practicing Dream Entering Technique as well. How is it that you and your mentor are both venturing into dream abilities?" Rhein asked out of curiosity, without overthinking, simply intrigued.
"Angel proposed some research topics related to illusion and dreams which I found interesting. Thus, I joined the topic of study as well." Sanders simply attributed his study of dream trick techniques to Angel’s research topics. Though this explanation had some discrepancies, they weren’t far off.
"Illusion and dream topics? I’ve heard you mention it before. I’ve thought about it myself; illusion and dreams often connect with each other. Perhaps combining Illusion Techniques and Dream Abilities might indeed spark something different." Rhein, although not of the Illusion Dream system, gave his affirmative view from his perspective.
After pausing, Rhein asked with curiosity, "What specific topic are you researching?"
"Once we have a rough outcome, revealing it then won’t be too late," Sanders glanced at Angel: "And I believe that day isn’t far away."
Rhein didn’t pursue further upon hearing this and shifted to other topics of conversation.
During their idle chat, the clock’s hands kept advancing, as the outside sky was reaching the twilight dusk.
"Toby was previously influenced by the Calamity Curse, later..." Angel was speaking with Rhein about Toby, but halfway through, he was interrupted by the "dong dong dong" sound.
The conversation abruptly stopped, and their eyes simultaneously turned to the mini signal tower that Angel had pre-installed on the study’s side.
The mini signal tower’s sound system was repeatedly ringing "dong dong dong," alerting that someone was requesting contact.
Everyone exchanged glances, ultimately looking towards Angel. Without any hesitation, Angel stepped in front of the signal tower and projected a spiritual power thread to sense the machinery inside momentarily.
"It’s Signal Tower No. 18, with a layer of magic power deflection, should have crossed an auxiliary plane... Let me think, No. 18 should be..." Angel murmured in a low voice.
On the other side, Rhein interrupted: "No need to ponder, the signal tower is from Crown Star Church."
Though Rhein didn’t agree to install signal towers in Barbarian Cave, he was quite knowledgeable about the signal towers of various Wizard Organizations, especially ones like Crown Star Church which had numerous functional capabilities.
"It seems today’s star observation exchange has concluded." Tree Spirit turned to look at the clock display: "Earlier than previous exchanges, is it because there were no significant prophecies?"
"Alternatively, the prophecies might be very significant, leading everyone to hastily conclude due to eagerness. Just like during the Dark Tomb Plane’s demon blood battle in the past," Rhein said.
Sanders didn’t interject further, for no matter the situation, once Maya’s side relayed the information, everything will become clear.
Angel quickly connected both sides of the conversation, simultaneously adjusting the Light Screen towards the desk area.
Upon the Light Screen displaying the image, the wrinkled Maya Witch appeared in front of them, with Dororo standing behind her.
Maya’s expression seemed rather grave, and even when the Light Screen connected, her furrowed brows did not relax.
Seeing this scene, everyone’s mood involuntarily sank. Does Maya’s demeanor hint that this prophecy might be very burdensome?
Maya: "Lord Rhein, Tree Spirit..."
"Don’t mind the formalities, get straight to the point," Rhein looked towards Maya, he hadn’t immediately asked about Angel or relics but instead said: "Your expression seems off, has something happened during this star observation day?"
Maya glanced behind at Dororo then spoke: "Nothing happened during star observation day, but I saw something this time that caught my attention."
"Related to the Seed followers?" Rhein first thought of Angel’s matters, as it was he who had Maya monitoring for safety concerns during star observation day.
Maya shook her head: "Unrelated to Seed followers, but it might still be connected to Angel in some way."
As Maya finished speaking, everyone unconsciously looked at Angel.
Angel’s expression didn’t change, but inside, subtle ripples emerged. He harbored many hidden secrets; what matter related to him could it be?
"What exactly is the issue?" Sanders asked.
"Doomsday Scenery." Maya: "I saw the Doomsday Scenery."
After finishing her sentence, Maya didn’t hesitate and directly used Illusion Techniques to project the doomsday fragments she witnessed comprehensively.
Though the Light Screen couldn’t transmit three-dimensional images, one could still feel an unprecedented shock from those doomsday fragments.
The earth cracked, all life withered!
Doomsday scenery, Deity battle!
After witnessing these fragments, everyone was left astonished by the image before them. After a long while, Rhein broke the silence: "If this truly occurs in the future, then it’s beyond our capabilities to intervene."
"Moreover, I suspect this might not occur in the Southern Domain because, according to some covenants, such grand Deity battles are unlikely to occur here."
Rhein’s words pulled the group back from their silence.
Maya: "Lord Rhein’s judgment is correct, Crowned Star One concurs, thinking it might not transpire in the Southern Domain. However, we cannot completely rule out the possibility of it occurring here."
Rhein likewise nodded, acknowledging that nothing is absolute.
"Let’s set aside where it takes place; why do you say it relates to Angel?"
