Chapter 1793: Section 1794: Shoot the Arrow First, Then Draw the Target

Arrow of the Defeated? Arrow of the Loser?

Could it be that its effect is that only losers can shoot the arrow? Like earlier when Rosen won against those Seed believers in the Void, he belonged to the winners, so he received the arrow shot by the defeated?

Regarding everyone’s conjectures, Isabel shook her head: "I don’t know exactly why it’s called Arrow of the Defeated, but it’s definitely not what you are suggesting."

"I don’t know much about the Arrow of the Defeated, but I know its power is immense, capable of even striking down a Legend."

Striking down a Legend?! There was a look of astonishment in everyone’s eyes; it was their first time hearing that an attacking mysterious object could cause fatal damage directly to a Legendary Level Wizard!

No wonder the danger it brings is so horrifying.

However, if it truly can strike down a Legend, then one shot could destroy the Sky Mechanical City. Why is it only targeting Rosen, and why did Rosen manage to escape death for some special reason?

Or maybe... the arrow before wasn’t the Arrow of the Defeated?

Isabel explained, "The power of the Arrow of the Defeated is great, but I heard it has significant limitations. I’m not familiar with this, but if I were to guess why the Arrow of the Defeated didn’t take down the Sky Mechanical City in one strike, maybe it’s due to its limitations."

"Of course, that’s assuming the arrow you encountered really was the Arrow of the Defeated."

After a pause, Isabel continued talking about the rumors of the Arrow of the Defeated: "According to rumors, not only does the Arrow of the Defeated have limitations, but after using the Arrow of the Defeated, the user experiences significant negative effects. However, I’m not sure what these negative effects are."

A mysterious object with negative effects on the user?

Angel suddenly thought of something: semi-out-of-control!

A semi-out-of-control mysterious object will submit to the Controller but still presents some negative feedback.

Although Angel speculated that the Arrow of the Defeated is a semi-out-of-control mysterious object, this information was of no help to the current situation and had to be put aside for now.

"If it truly is the Arrow of the Defeated, then we can only hope its negative effects are strong enough to make them hesitant to use it." Greya whispered.

Isabel didn’t respond because she truly didn’t know what the negative effects were. She thought for a moment and said, "Also, after the Arrow of the Defeated hits its target, it disappears and returns to the operator’s hand, which resembles what you described."

This point matches the situation after Rosen was hit by the arrow earlier, but it’s not conclusive that it was the Arrow of the Defeated.

"Oh, I remember something else." Isabel pondered for a moment, then added, "I recall hearing that in the rumors of the Arrow of the Defeated, someone said that the Arrow of the Defeated was a historian’s anger, and even claimed that history is about shooting an arrow first, then drawing a bullseye where it lands."

"Shoot the arrow first, then draw the bullseye?" Muse repeated the phrase questioningly.

"Yes, I speculate that this might be the mysterious effect of the Arrow of the Defeated."

With this said, Isabel cut off communication with the Signal Tower because that was all the information she knew.

"We’ve almost exhausted our understanding of the Arrow of the Defeated, but we still can’t be certain if that arrow was truly the Arrow of the Defeated." Greya said.

Everyone agreed with Greya’s words. After all, an arrow from the Arrow of the Defeated could strike down a Legend, which currently doesn’t match its stature; even though Isabel mentioned the Arrow of the Defeated has limitations, that’s another unknown variable, making it difficult to prove.

While everyone was contemplating, Antonio suddenly said, "I saw an interesting image."

An interesting image? Everyone turned to Antonio, puzzled by his words.

Antonio didn’t explain but turned to Muse, "I need a Light Screen capable of transmitting images from the Magic Energy Eye."

Muse didn’t question Antonio’s intentions, directly took out a staff and pointed it at the Void. As the light pattern resembling a rose extended across the space, a Light Screen appeared before everyone.

Antonio looked at the Light Screen, seemingly manipulating something in secret, and soon an image appeared on the screen.

Angel: "Huh, this is... City Lord Rosen’s office hall?"

The place reflected in the image was the metal hall where Rosen was previously struck by an arrow.

However, compared to the hall they saw earlier, there was a change; the sea of light inside had all vanished, returning everything to its original state.

The spacious hall was undamaged, the experiment tables were as smooth and flat as before, and the floating Light Screen even played images of the Sky Mechanical City—many people were gathered near the Infinite Battle Tower, searching for the previous unusual light drop.

"There doesn’t seem to be much change except for the scattered limbs... parts." Greya initially wanted to say, besides the exploded limbs of Rosen, everything else was the same. But she thought better of it, as Rosen was just beside her, so she changed "limbs" to "parts." It was indeed the truth since most of Rosen’s body was mechanically constructed, causing the ground to be littered with various broken parts.

"No, there is a change!" Melisa suddenly walked up and stood in front of the Light Screen.

She was the one, aside from Rosen, who visited the metal hall the most, so she could quickly detect subtle anomalies.

Melisa signaled Antonio to continue displaying the hall’s situation. As the image was presented at a certain angle, she immediately said, "Stop! Stop right there, that’s the spot."

This angle provided a straight sight after entering the door, offering a comprehensive view of the hall.

To others, the image seemed normal, but Melisa was trembling slightly, pointing with her finger, "This thing wasn’t here before!"

Something appeared in the hall out of thin air? Everyone looked in the direction Melisa pointed and saw, at the rear of the experiment table where Rosen usually sat, a round... object.

The experiment table obstructed the view, making it unclear, but it was confirmed to be possibly a flat circular item.

Antonio thoughtfully zoomed in the perspective, allowing everyone to gradually see its true form.

"Is that... a target?"

To be precise, it was a circular arrow target floating above the seat. It didn’t look like an actual object existing in the Material Realm, having a sort of virtual feeling.

Looking at the target, Muse seemed to have an idea, used his staff to tap the ground, and a teleportation Magic Pattern appeared beneath.

Muse was preparing to teleport when Angel suddenly stepped forward.

Muse glanced at Angel without saying anything, and as the light pattern beneath flashed, Angel and Muse’s figures vanished.

At the same time, their images appeared on the Light Screen.

Angel and Muse arrived at the metal hall, quietly standing near the arrow target, carefully observing something.
