Chapter 1789: Section 1790: Skull

Although Sanders’ obstruction was the wisest idea, without going in, it’s difficult to know the current situation of City Lord Rosen.

Angel thought for a moment, then turned to look at Melisa, who was being supported by Greya.

A strand of Nightmare Illusion Energy leaked from Angel’s fingertip and directly touched Melisa’s forehead.

Melisa, originally in a state of chaos and fear, seemed to clear up slightly under Angel’s Illusion Technique’s stimulation, although her eyelids were slowly drooping, indicating her thoughts were gradually becoming muddled again.

Taking advantage of her not being completely disoriented, Angel quickly asked, "Is City Lord Rosen inside?"

Melisa, blankly, said, "He is."

"What is his current condition? Is he... still alive?" Angel asked.

Melisa subconsciously recalled the previous scenes. She was standing opposite Rosen at that time, observing the strange darkness on the light screen with him, and even discussing what the sudden void rift was.

But the next second, boundless light rushed into the hall they were in.

Then Melisa saw an arrow piercing Rosen’s heart... The brilliance shone, followed by a massive explosion...

Due to the influence of the Nightmare Illusion, Melisa’s emotions were temporarily suppressed. She just stared blankly, being guided by Angel’s questions, without her own thoughts. Yet, even so, Melisa’s eyes started to accumulate tears.

Two silent, unnoticeable tears trickled down.

"Is he still alive?" Angel asked again, manipulating the Nightmare Illusion left in Melisa’s forehead.

With the diffusion of the Nightmare Illusion, Melisa finally spoke again, blankly saying, "I don’t know, I only saw his mouth, it seemed to be moving."

Upon hearing this, Angel snapped his fingers, and the Nightmare Illusion completely spread into Melisa’s surface consciousness. Melisa felt a flash of white light, and then her consciousness sank into a sweet dream.

Melisa fell into a deep sleep, and Greya caught her.

Angel then looked at Sanders, and said in a low voice, "I want to go inside and have a look."

Angel did not explain the reason, and Sanders did not obstruct him this time either, just nodded. Angel knew what he was doing; Sanders could remind but would not and could not interfere with his choice.

Angel hesitated no longer, spinning around and entering the metal hall bathed in radiant light.

Angel’s purpose was very clear. He must see Rosen’s condition. After all, this encounter is very likely manipulated by the Seed of believers in the background, and Rosen’s misfortune was greatly related to Angel.

Even though expelling the Seed of believers was Rosen’s idea, if Rosen suffered because of it, Angel would still feel very guilty.

It was precisely because of this that Angel wanted to enter here to check Rosen’s specific condition. If Rosen could still be saved, he should exert maximum effort to avoid the misfortune caused by negligence.

Of course, Angel was not a reckless person.

When questioning Melisa, Angel had already confirmed that Melisa came out from the metal hall. If so, it also indicated that the light filling the hall was at least not problematic in a short period.

It was for this reason that Angel chose to enter.

When the dazzling light constructed a floating sea of light around Angel, a trace of solemnity flashed through his eyes. These beams, as he expected, indeed did not harm him.

However, he vaguely felt a thread of familiar aura within these beams.

Angel suppressed the urge to investigate. The most important task now was to confirm Rosen’s condition. He quickly walked towards the center of the metal hall following the remembered layout.

Normally, Rosen should be nearby, either desk-bound at an experiment table or monitoring the myriad beings under the light screen.

Soon, Angel saw the vague outline of an experiment table.

On the experiment table were seemingly piled a lot of data files and something was placed there.

Angel took a few steps forward and suddenly felt as if he had kicked something. When he picked it up and saw what it was, his expression turned into shock.

Ignoring hesitation, Angel hurried to the vicinity of the experiment table.

When seeing a still crackling round object on the experiment table, a chill surged through Angel’s spine.

The thing Angel picked up from the ground fell silently, it was a severed arm.

In front of Angel, on the experiment table... was a head.

Rosen’s head.

His eyes were closed, looking very peaceful, hair standing upright with lightning serpents darting through, making the air crackle.

"Rosen is dead?" Angel stared at the head, with the words echoing repeatedly in his mind.

He was late... Was it really that arrow?

Angel was blankly standing there. Though not on the verge of emotional breakdown like Melisa, he still felt unpleasant. There was a vague sense of sadness because Rosen’s death held some responsibility for him as well.

Angel sighed deeply, mourning for Rosen’s death.

However, unexpectedly. With Angel’s sigh, the ears on the head on the experiment table in front of him suddenly moved, and then the tightly closed eyes abruptly opened.

"Is it Melan... Ah, it is indeed Transcendental Wizard." A cold voice entered Angel’s ears.

Angel snapped back and looked at Rosen—to be precise, his head.

"You are still alive?" Angel’s tone was filled with surprise.

"If thirty more seconds had passed, without being able to sever the interaction between mechanic energy and the outside world, the loss of energy would have caused my brain to die." Even at this critical moment, Rosen’s tone remained cold, like a metal puppet.

Angel did not ask the reason, and directly said, "What should I do?"

"Use an Energy Isolation Defense Spell to create a membrane around my head." Rosen speaking would consume energy and his tone was now becoming increasingly feeble.

Angel did not hesitate, creating a membrane outside as instructed by Rosen. As the membrane formed, the lightning serpents in his hair ceased to interact with the outside world, and the energy was reclaimed by Rosen.

Rosen: "If you have time, you can help me draw an Energy Balancing Magic Rune. I need to protect my head."

Angel nodded, "I can, but let me get you out of here first."

Angel worried that the light here might continue to harm Rosen.

Rosen: "Alright."

"Do you need me to find another body for you?" Angel asked.

Rosen said faintly, "No need, it has already been completely destroyed by an arrow. However, most of my body is made mechanically. Muse can help replace it in the future."

Angel nodded, realizing that this was perhaps the reason Rosen managed to survive, having transformed most parts into mechanical components.
