Chapter 1788: Section 1789 Arrow
"An arrow?" Horus muttered softly, casting a doubtful gaze at Asaz: "How do you know?"
Although Horus hadn’t used any spell techniques, his eerie heterochromatic eyes, along with the cold aura constantly emanating from him, made Asaz feel as if he were naked in the depths of a frigid winter.
Asaz was unsure whether to disclose the details to Horus. He opened his mouth, only to close it again.
"Did Sebastian tell you?" At this moment, Greya stepped forward, not only inquiring Asaz but also helping him out while blocking Horus’s aura.
Only then did Asaz regain some composure, as he nodded while gasping: "Yes."
"Sebastian told me it vaguely glimpsed the truth behind the light in the void, seemingly a glowing arrow."
While Asaz spoke, Sanders quietly explained Asaz’s situation to Horus, though he didn’t explicitly state that Sebastian was a demon, rather describing it as a volatile parasite lurking in the void.
After hearing this, Horus said no more; there are always some fortunate individuals in the world who experience incredible encounters. Yet, since Sanders mentioned the "creature" behind Asaz is filled with uncertainties, it may not necessarily be an opportunity; it could also be a devouring abyss.
Horus shifted his focus back to the arrow described by Asaz.
If what Asaz said is true, then the arrow that alerts them all to danger is undoubtedly incredibly powerful.
But why would it shoot through the void towards the Sky Mechanical City?
Since it’s an arrow, it definitely has a target; who might its target be? Who is it targeting?
As Horus pondered these questions, he suddenly heard Sanders’s voice: "Angel, what’s wrong?"
Following Sanders’s words, Horus looked toward Angel. He saw Angel’s eyes wide open, seemingly realizing something, his expression very troubled.
"Arrow, Central City; Arrow, Central City." Angel muttered repeatedly, shaking his head in a daze: "Could it be..."
Suddenly, Angel raised his head, an ethereal door appeared directly before him.
"I need to verify something." Angel quickly said, and before anyone could react, he vanished into the door.
The group glanced at the distant sky, faintly seeing Angel opening several doors in succession, with his target apparently being Sky Mechanical City!
Without any hesitation, Sanders and Horus followed immediately.
Greya glanced at Asaz: "The danger warning has disappeared, we should go have a look too. Or, you can stay here."
Asaz shook his head resolutely, following Greya.
On the other side, Angel, having opened consecutive doors, was already in the Central City of Sky Mechanical City.
The repeated door opening made Angel noticeably pale, but this time he was alone, so he could still bear it.
He lifted his head to look into the distance.
The Infinite Battle Tower, like a heavenly pillar, stood tall here. Looking up, even the top of the tower was out of sight.
Angel hurried there immediately because he remembered what Antonio mentioned earlier; the strongest among the Seed Cult followers left a message to City Lord Rosen just before entering a chaotic rhythm—
"Punishment will soon befall you. Guess where the arrow is coming from?"
Although no one knew what these words meant, undoubtedly, it was a threat. And the object threatening Rosen was an arrow!
Antonio then reminded Rosen to stay vigilant. Just two days later, an arrow shot over.
That arrow, enveloped in endless radiance, vanished in the Central City, where Rosen most frequently stayed—the Infinite Battle Tower.
Angel suspected that arrow might be the one referred to by the Seed Cult followers, so he unhesitatingly rushed here.
Angel observed the condition of the Infinite Battle Tower carefully, and he sensed nothing amiss. The walls of the Infinite Battle Tower were inscribed with special magic patterns, appearing untouched.
"Everything seems fine."
Angel also noticed that apprentices and wizards from various tower levels—like levels 10, 20, 30, and 50—were coming out to examine the situation outside; their expressions appeared puzzled about what was going on outside, suggesting they weren’t affected inside the Infinite Battle Tower.
That being said, perhaps the arrow wasn’t aimed at Rosen?
"It’s better to meet City Lord Rosen. If he’s unharmed, we can discuss the arrow’s situation. If something happened to him..." Angel refrained from thinking further and headed toward the dark-shrouded tower’s peak.
Arriving at the top of the tower, Angel didn’t see any sign of the walls being breached.
Yet, inexplicably, Angel still felt a vague sense of unease.
If not aimed at Rosen, who was the arrow intended for? Where in the Central City did it land?
"These issues can be set aside for now; let’s first see what City Lord Rosen has to say." Angel took out his communicator, planning to contact City Lord Rosen directly.
However, City Lord Rosen didn’t respond. Angel then tried contacting Antonio, but surprisingly, Antonio, who typically was readily available, was silent this time.
Once again, Angel felt a sense of foreboding rise within him.
At that moment, not far from the tower’s peak, a section of wall slowly blurred, and a familiar figure appeared before Angel.
Melisa Yada.
The daughter of "Mechanical Beast Emperor" Rosen Yada.
Previously, when Angel arrived here, Melisa was the one who opened the passage for him. However, this time, Melisa’s expression seemed off.
Panic, fear, along with a trace of bewilderment and helplessness.
"What’s wrong? What happened?" Angel asked in confusion.
Melisa opened her mouth, seemingly frightened by something, her lips were trembling continuously, yet she uttered no words.
Receiving no answers, Angel didn’t press Melisa further but swiftly flew toward the inner corridor.
Melisa’s demeanor clearly indicated she had been startled. This meant something had definitely occurred within.
Relating to the current concerns, the only thing Angel could think of was the arrow!
Angel swiftly arrived at the doorway to the metal hall, the door was open, but nothing could be seen inside.
Because it was filled with light.
Blinding light.
"Is this light... the vanished light from before?" A low, hoarse male voice sounded near Angel’s ear.
Turning around, Angel saw Sanders and Horus. Footsteps echoed from the corridor’s end, where Greya supported the dazed Melisa, walking toward them.
"What happened inside?" Horus asked.
Angel shook his head: "I don’t know, but the situation might not be optimistic."
After saying this, Angel prepared to step inside, but before he could move, Sanders grabbed his arm.
"This light is strange; it blocks all energy detection, don’t rush in carelessly."
Angel didn’t perceive any danger warnings, and he speculated Melisa had likely emerged from this room. If she could exit, it indicated the light should be harmless.
However, this was merely Angel’s conjecture.
Sanders was right; without definite evidence confirming the light’s harmlessness, it was best not to act rashly.
