Chapter 1774: Section 1775: Madman Selling Death
"I wonder why the Transcendental Wizard has come to see me?"
Rosen began to inquire about Angel’s intentions, subtly indicating that he had lightly put aside the matter concerning Toby.
Although Angel was still somewhat annoyed by Rosen’s earlier probing, unfounded emotions wouldn’t distract him from his purpose for visiting Rosen.
"I do have something to discuss with City Lord Rosen." Angel paused, emphasizing once more: "Something very important."
Angel’s serious expression made Rosen regard the matter solemnly as well.
Rosen softly snapped his fingers, and a metallic chair appeared out of thin air in front of the metal lab table, gesturing for Angel to have a seat.
After Angel sat down, Rosen spoke: "What important matter brings you to find me? Have you perhaps recalled more news about Ivor?"
For Rosen, any crucial news related to the Sky Mechanical City, especially those involving Angel, would naturally pertain to the news of Ivor Schubert, the refiner of the Reincarnation Casket of the Undead.
Even Nail Granny, who hadn’t left for a thousand years, went to great lengths for this matter, demonstrating the importance of this issue to the Research and Development Institute.
To Rosen’s surprise, Angel directly shook his head: "It has nothing to do with that."
Since it had nothing to do with Ivor, what important matter would Angel bring up?
Angel could sense that even though Ivor appeared to have a serious demeanor, there was still some indifference hidden within his calm aura.
"Originally, I didn’t plan to bring this up before matters became clear. However, they have reappeared."
"They?" Rosen asked, "Whom do you refer to as ’they’?"
"A group of madmen who trade death in the name of faith."
Rosen still didn’t grasp Angel’s meaning, but before he could inquire further, Angel began narrating the story from the beginning: "To tell you about this matter, we must start with a disappearance case."
Angel started elaborating on the disappearance of Irene.
The more Rosen listened, the more confused he became. Was the disappearance of a low-ranked apprentice really important? Up until now, the issue seemed to have no point of interest.
If anyone else had droned on and on about a disappearance case, Rosen would have long interrupted; but since it was Angel, Rosen trusted there must be a reason, perhaps some hidden intrigue behind the matter. For this reason, Rosen didn’t interrupt Angel and continued listening.
As Angel began talking about the disappearance of believers in the old district of Paradow City and started unraveling the inside story of the Seed followers, Rosen gradually understood what Angel intended to convey.
Mysterious Object!
And it was an uncontrollable Mysterious Object!
Having experienced the "Reincarnation Casket of the Undead," Rosen already knew some classifications of Mysterious Objects, and later he secretly discussed more detailed aspects with Muse, so he was well aware of the terrors of an uncontrollable Mysterious Object.
Could this incident really involve such a terrifying Mysterious Object?! And it occurred right in Yirong Country!
At this moment, waves had already begun to stir in Rosen’s heart, and yet, even more frightening revelations awaited.
"Uncontrollable Mysterious Objects can actually be subdivided. For example, ordinary uncontrollable objects, which are within the scope of potential recovery by Mystic Hunters from the Orderly Guild; semi-unsolvable uncontrollable objects with a significantly reduced recovery probability."
"Furthermore, there’s a type of unsolvable uncontrollable object, whose recovery probability is near zero, and every unsolvable uncontrollable object has wiped out a Miracle."
Rosen remained silent for a moment: "...Which type is Seed?"
"Unsolvable." Angel’s voice was faint, but to Rosen, it was like a bolt of lightning.
Rosen’s body was half mechanical, with muscles replaced by mechanical parts, and his blood replaced with a special oil. In such a cold body, his emotions had long tended towards deathly stillness. Yet Angel’s words today caused endless ripples on the long inactive surface of his emotions.
Rosen felt his throat dry and it took quite some time to find his voice: "Are there other Seed believers still in Yirong Country?"
Angel glanced at Rosen, silently sighing that he had quickly regained composure and pinpointed the crucial point, worthy of being the City Lord of Sky Mechanical City.
"When I killed the last believer in Paradow City, I thought there were none left."
Angel thought there were none left. This means it’s still uncertain whether they are truly gone.
Rosen said nothing because from Angel’s tone, it was clear he had more to say. Indeed, after a pause, Angel continued speaking.
"After Irene’s disappearance, I had a discussion with my Mentor."
"In the end, we reached a consensus that the less people know about the Seed, the better."
Rosen also agreed, as Seed is the quintessential example of "the more you know, the more miserable you die," of uncontrolled objects. However, even if you know the way into Seed, as long as you don’t recklessly seek it out, you can avoid falling victim.
However, a person’s curiosity is easily piqued. Moreover, this world is not short of madmen who do exactly what they are told not to do and even drag everyone along with them!
For this reason, Angel was correct in saying that information about Seed shouldn’t be spread— the fewer people know, the better.
Angel: "My original plan was to return to the Barbarian Cave and seek a prophecy from Witch Maya, to find out if there are any remaining Seed believers in the Southern Domain. Then, depending on the situation, relay this information to some necessary people."
The so-called necessary people referred to individuals at Rosen’s level.
"But you changed your mind." Rosen looked at Angel quietly, knowing that him proactively coming to seek him implied a change of mind.
What prompted Angel to change his mind?
What event triggered Angel to make this change?
"Yes, I changed my mind." Angel: "Because..."
"Seed believers have reappeared."
Most importantly, the newly appeared Seed believers could very likely be those who brought faith to Paradow City!
They could be the source of the Seed faith calamity in the Southern Domain.
"Calamity source?" Rosen’s eyebrows furrowed: "How did you determine that? And who exactly are these people? Where are they now?"
Angel handed Rosen a piece of parchment, on which symbols drawn by Helen were visible.
"What is this?" Rosen asked, puzzled, looking at Angel.
Angel didn’t keep him in suspense and revealed the entire tale of Si Man’s disappearance, along with his own speculations about the identities of those who abducted Si Man.
Although Angel’s deductions were based on intuition rather than concrete evidence, sometimes a wizard’s intuition could be more valuable than fabricated evidence.
After listening, Rosen also deeply believed that these people appearing in Paradow was no coincidence.
Perhaps as Angel speculated, they are indeed the instigators. Their arrival in Paradow might be to observe the Seed faith’s progress, or possibly to continue spreading the Seed faith.
In any case, they absolutely cannot be allowed to succeed!
