Chapter 1636: Section 1637: Farce

Greya’s training was proceeding in an orderly manner. After observing for a while, Angel prepared to head back to the room.

However, just as Angel was about to get up, the manor’s gate was knocked upon.

Under the guidance of Butler No. 1, Asaz, wearing a black wizard robe, walked in.

Since Asaz decided to join the Barbie Restaurant, he currently resides temporarily in the Mana Hut built by the lake, following closely by Greya’s side.

After Asaz entered, he was already familiar with the scene before him. He knew Toby’s identity and the purpose of Greya’s training him, so after giving a salute to both Greya and Angel, he prepared to return to the Mana Hut.

"You usually don’t leave the house; what made you think of going out today?" Greya, whose gaze fell on Asaz, asked with some curiosity as the first phase of Toby’s training had just reached a temporary conclusion.

Before getting to know Greya, Asaz harbored considerable resentment towards her. However, after learning of Greya’s identity, he exuded respect and admiration from inside out and was even trending towards fanaticism.

Asaz responded very respectfully: "I was originally planning to continue studying the restaurant recipes given by the master, but I have my competition today, so I had to put the recipes aside for the moment."

Competition? Angel seemed to recall something; ever since Asaz was defeated by Trom, there should be only one competition left.

"Is today your match with Xiliu?"

"Xiliu? Do you mean Son of the Ocean?" Asaz nodded: "Yes, today is my match with her."

Angel asked curiously, "Who won?"

Asaz appeared slightly embarrassed: "I lost."

This outcome somewhat surprised Angel. According to his estimation, Asaz should have had a high chance of winning against Xiliu, unless... "You didn’t use Demonic Power?"

Asaz nodded, Greya had already had a long talk with him before, explaining that Demonic Power could be borrowed, but he should try not to reveal it in such competitions. This was also to avoid bringing trouble to the culinary Witches to the greatest extent possible.

"I see," Angel realized. If Asaz did not use Demonic Power, defeating Xiliu would be utterly impossible.

Nevertheless, even though Asaz lost the competition, he still ranked fourth in the new star competition. With the lavish style of the Infinite Battle Tower, the final rewards were bound not to be few. Moreover, it also allowed other factions to witness the culinary Witches’ strength.

After inquiring about Asaz’s match with Xiliu, Angel also asked about the conditions of several other matches.

Among them, Qi Li versus Kavoline, Qi Li won. Kavoline had just recently recovered, her physical condition had not returned to its peak, plus she had encountered a Demon while wearing the Space-Time Witch robe last time, which left some trauma. In the end, Qi Li did not exert much effort to win with ease.

The match between Jiebo and Suyatutai was somewhat dramatic. Jiebo did not appear, giving Suyatutai a direct victory.

Nobody knew why Jiebo did not show up for the competition; they could only guess that he might not have recovered from the physical injuries sustained when he lost to Xiliu before; or perhaps, Jiebo felt that losing face after his defeat to Xiliu made him unwilling to participate in the new star competition.

Thus, the final match was between Qi Li and Suyatutai, fighting for the fifth place.

As Asaz was speaking, he suddenly paused: "However, in today’s match between the Witch of the Deep Fire and the Philosopher Scholar, the Witch of the Deep Fire didn’t participate either."

Angel: "Qi Li didn’t participate in the match?"

Deep Fire is Qi Li’s nickname.

Asaz nodded, somewhat melancholic: "Yes, she not only didn’t attend the match, but just a moment ago, she also started fighting with the Son of the Ocean at Fragrant Plaza."

Qi Li and Jiebo got into a fight? Angel suddenly remembered the breeze that had come from nowhere earlier; could it be from the disturbances of the fight between Qi Li and Jiebo?

After pondering briefly, Angel roughly guessed Qi Li’s mindset.

Qi Li chose to surrender during her match with Trom because Angel guessed she did so in order to face Jiebo in the arena, who had lost to Xiliu. The only way for her to meet Jiebo was to admit defeat.

However, Jiebo later didn’t even participate in the match.

This resulted in Qi Li’s opponent changing to Suyatutai, which was something she could not tolerate.

Given that she couldn’t defeat Jiebo fair and square in the arena, it was normal for someone with Qi Li’s temperament to choose to act in private.

Qi Li suffered from autism, and while she might have concerns on regular days, she would not care about time and place when enraged, acting stubbornly on her own accord.

"And then?" Angel pursued further: "What happened with the fight between Qi Li and Jiebo afterward?"

Asaz shook his head: "I didn’t go to Fragrant Plaza; it had been flooded by seawater and the Enforcement Squad sealed off that area. So, I don’t know the specifics."

Asaz glanced at Sharley while saying this.

Last time, Sharley had nearly flooded a street. But this time, the fight between Jiebo and Qi Li truly submerged an entire plaza.

Angel nodded, refraining from further questions, and instead looked in the direction of Fragrant Plaza. He hadn’t paid attention to the gust of wind earlier because he didn’t want to expend energy, but now suspecting it was related to Qi Li, he took a closer look.

This look made his eyelids twitch.

Just hearing Asaz’s description, he felt the incident could be serious. Only upon looking did he realize it was more than just serious.

Fragrant Plaza had almost vanished from sight, except for the head of an ancient statue of an Alchemy Master from Fragrance Studies. Every other place had turned into a vast ocean.

Although Sky Mechanical City had taken measures to contain the seawater within a certain range, the scene was still staggering.

Fortunately, Fragrant Plaza was a gathering place for alchemists of Fragrance Studies, where everyone from shopkeepers to passersby were Transcendents. There likely weren’t as many mortal casualties as the time Sharley caused trouble.

But that was a gathering place for Alchemists... Submerged like this, the losses were definitely far greater than Sharley’s incident.

Starting from today, the entire fragrance circle of the Southern Domain would probably put Jiebo and Qi Li on a permanent blacklist.

Due to the Water Pattern Witch’s assistance, Sharley managed to scrape by after her previous fiasco. Angel had thought, being somewhat of a friend to Qi Li, if he could cover for her like the Water Pattern Witch did, he was willing to try. But after seeing the situation at the site, Angel felt overwhelmed.

Even if he was willing to help out, those Fragrance Studies alchemists would probably not let Qi Li off the hook.

Of course, the same went for Jiebo.

Angel continued to survey, hoping to spot Qi Li and Jiebo amid the vast waters. However, he saw no trace of them, only numerous Law Enforcers clearing up the aftermath and wizards in Fragrance Studies alchemy robes stomping and cursing.

It seemed, Qi Li and Jiebo had probably been taken into custody by the people of Sky Mechanical City.

Angel rubbed his temples and after musing for a moment, decided to inquire about the situation.

He took out his communicator, preparing to contact Antonio. Although Antonio belonged to the Research and Development Institute as a guardian spirit, he held significant influence in Sky Mechanical City and could even be said to represent the stance of the Research and Development Institute.

However, just as Angel was about to contact Antonio, Sanders suddenly appeared in the courtyard.

"Mentor?" Angel looked at Sanders with confusion, unsure of what he was there for.

Sanders simply said: "Kanter is here."
