Chapter 83: Mission One: Complete

Chapter 83: Mission One: Complete

Dealing with men was such a pain in the ass, especially when they were as hateful as Agent Helios and Agent Hades. They could pass as brothers with their personalities, and I would believe it. Urgh.

Tired of their antics, I went down to the basement instead. I wanted to shoot at something to release all this stress and anger and everything I was feeling at that moment. Once inside, I quickly went to the shooting range and used all the guns I could. I named one target Helios and the other Hades.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

"Die Helios!"

BANG! BANG! BANG!

"Die Hades!"

Hours passed, and night soon fell. I didn’t notice it had been that long if it weren’t for Agent Helios calling me again. I had already de-stressed myself, so my calm self was finally back. With a tranquil disposition, I answered his call. It turns out he just wanted to invite me for dinner in the guise of keeping our lovey-dovey married couple facade. He didn’t even apologize for what he did earlier! Tsk. The nerve of this guy. He probably didn’t realize he was wrong.

"How about you leave me alone for tonight? I’ll eat by myself and sleep by myself. Continue having fun with your friend. And please, choose another victim this time."

I said all that in a voice so serene and uninterested in their antics.

"Wait! Aren’t you curious about what happened to the culprit?"

"I assume you caught him and interrogated him properly?"

"Well, that is true."

"Great. You trust your friend so much, so he should be fine and should manage to gather useful information, right?"

"Yes, but—"

"Then there’s nothing else for me to do. Submit the report and evidence we got to Mythos tonight. You should be able to do that on your own, right?"

"Ye-Ji’ya," he replied sternly.

But that tone won’t work on me. They’re the ones at fault here, not me. If I want to ignore them and have peace, I will!

"Yes, Jeon Eun-Woo," I replied more sternly than he did.

"About earlier, if that offended you, I’m sorry, okay?"

"Oh, now you’re apologizing."

"I am. So go back here and don’t compromise our facade."

"Married couples fight. Let’s just say we had a little argument. The servants would understand. And besides, why do we still need to keep our act in front of them? Why can’t we just be ourselves? Go hire people that can keep their mouth shut and won’t care whatever we do. That way, we don’t need to pretend all the time."

"There is no such thing. Every human has their own opinion no matter what rule you set on them and that in itself is a liability I won’t risk to trust," he said while his tone raised with each word. "The fewer people who know about us, the better. Now get back here before I come down there and take you myself!"

"Hah!" I scoffed. "How about a NO?"

He sighed deeply from the other line. He’s probably pissed off now. Hah! Take that! You should receive double the stress and humiliation you gave me. Get dinner all by yourself with your evil friend and let the maids do the talking and speculating why I wasn’t with you.

"Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut," he suddenly said out of nowhere.

’What’s with this guy? Why is he saying the name of his car? Is that his way of de-stressing himself? Chanting the name of his cars? Ha-ha-ha. How funny.’

"I’ll give it to you as an apology for earlier," he added in a much gentler tone.

...

...

...

’What the—is he really giving it to me? For FREE? Woah! I should get angry more often, huh?’

But wait—I shouldn’t be tempted by these material things! Get back to your senses Kim Ye-Ji!

"And I’m... really sorry about earlier for deliberately kissing you in front of Agent Hades," he continued. "It’s just that... haaah. You see, earlier, he kept rambling about how beautiful you are and how he wants to... well, sleep with you."

"WHAT?!"

"He didn’t believe I married you because I like you, so—"

"That motherf**cker! I’ll kill him," I replied as my anger started to rise once again. "But I don’t get it. What’s the connection of that to you kissing me? He says those things, and what you do is kiss me? What’s your difference with him? You two are both—"

"I got jealous."

My eyes widened when he said that to the point I was unable to respond for a few seconds.

"... I... I don’t understand."

"I don’t understand, either. I suddenly felt agitated, and I don’t know—I thought, what if you somehow end up liking him? I said I liked you, but you don’t want me, and for some reason, having another man around just felt wrong, and then I..."

He tried to explain what was on his mind but that in itself seemed to be jumbled up like how his words were. Alas, he confessed...

"I... felt a little possessive."

I could hear the slight trembling of his voice.

"The kiss... I used it as a warning for him not to dare get any ideas about you."

...

Ba-dump!

’No, heart! You don’t pound like that!’

Ba-dump! Ba-dump!

’I said, NO! Don’t get swayed! It’s all an act! He doesn’t like you in a romantic sense. He’s just feeling possessive because he’s lusting over you. Like a toy, he wants you all to himself. That’s just it. There’s nothing romantic about it. It’s disgusting, actually!’

I breathed in deeply to calm myself.

"I’m really sorry," he pressed on.

Ughhh... my heart. I’m already starting to feel merciful. Why in the world was I too soft? I hate myself.

"Okay. Since you explained yourself and understood your mistake, I’ll forgive you," I succumbed.

Anyway, we couldn’t possibly work while staying on bad terms. Ugh. I should at least get something from all this stress. Oh, right!

"And the car—I’ll take it," I said. "You did offer it as a bribe, right?"

"Ha-ha. Yes. It’s yours. I’ll give you the keys and the papers later."

"Heh. Thank you. I shall gladly accept the apology gift."

WOOHOO! I finally have the fastest car in the world! For FREE! I’m so happy!

In my excitement, I sprinted out of the basement in an instant and went to our bedroom to bathe and change my clothes. Then, I went straight to the dining area to eat supper with them. To my surprise, Agent Hades wasn’t there, and my favorite lobster was the main dish! It turns out, Eun-Woo kicked him out as soon as he was done with his job.

’Isn’t this night turning to my favor? How nice!’

And so, I enjoyed my dinner to the fullest while Eun-Woo briefed me with the latest news. He asked the servants to leave us alone before doing so.

According to him, all the files had been sent to Mythos already, and the Intelligence Department was already planning out the operation to catch Mr. Choi and reveal their evil deeds. They would soon release a mission for Mythos agents to take, and we should hear news about the result of the operation in a few days.

Assistant Chief Athena advised us not to get involved in the operation anymore since it would be risky for us. After all, we were the last person Mr. Choi talked to about the accounting fraud. We should lay low for now before going on towards our next target.

As for the culprit, he was interrogated thoroughly and even gave a valuable lead about all the other people he dealt with secretly. It seemed like Agent Hades did his job properly and managed to extract such information from him. One of them could be one of the "legs" or "heads" of Kraken or a minion we could use to lead to them.

Poor maid, though. She would soon lose her boyfriend either in prison or—well, let’s just hope for the best. Since he cooperated in some way or another, his sentence should be lessened. And if he managed to survive the years of his sentence, he could go back, and they could be together again.

"Since we can lay low for now, is there any place you want to go or things you want to do?" Eun-Woo asked as he put his goblet down.

"You’re being awfully kind tonight," I teased him. "Are you planning something evil to me?"

"Enjoy it while it lasts. I am simply being kind since I wasn’t on my best behavior earlier—twice."

Right. He was also a jerk when he tried to force himself on me. At least he stopped when I cried. Ugh. How many times had he seen me cry already?

"It’s good that you admit it," I shrugged and wiped my mouth.

"I at least know how to be responsible for my mistakes."

I slowly clapped my hands, praising such an attitude.

"Bravo."

"Anyway—answer my question."

"Hmm..." I thought for a moment then said, "Can I go back home? I miss my mother and Yoon-Ah. I want to visit them."

"Alright. Our honeymoon is over, so it should be fine to visit them."

And so, the following day, we prepared everything we needed and drove back home—to my home.
