Chapter 75: Meeting with Mr. Choi (Part 4)

Mr. Choi knew very well that their entire business and reputation would be in jeopardy if he didn’t succeed in pacifying Jeon’s heir. They could be declared an outcast by Mr. Jeon (father-in-law) and have a hard time attracting investors.

Not even asking if it was alright for me to be there, he proceeded with his presentation. He laid the tablet beside him on the table and showed us something.

I saw him take out the file from a secured folder with a password, thanks to the glass shelf behind him. Whoever put that there was pretty stupid, and Mr. Choi, who didn’t even notice, was another stupid person. Well, normal people wouldn’t be able to recognize that, but since I’m an agent and have excellent sight, I saw it clearly.

"Instead of explaining, I think you will understand it more by seeing this," Mr. Choi said as he handed out the tablet.

Upon closer inspection, it was simply an accounting report with a bunch of numbers and details. It wasn’t a business proposal. Could it be there’s something fishy about the accounting documents?

Agent Helios picked up the tablet and scanned it with his eyes. Not even a minute passed, and he had already figured it out. He’s really fast. I have a hunch, but I still need to review the file thoroughly to be sure.

"This is not just a little risk, Mr. Choi," he said. "Return of investment is indeed guaranteed this way, but I’m not sure if I would risk my credibility for a cheap change."

"A-A cheap change? It surely is not, Mr. Eun-Woo," he disagreed profusely. "Perhaps you’d like to check the rest of the file to see more numbers. That is just a month of profits. If you calculate it yearly, that would be billions of won!"

’Wut? Billions of won were just cheap change for him? Now, I understand why Mr. Choi was shocked by his reaction.’

"Ha-ha," Agent Helios chuckled like the devil. "Alright. Let’s say it’s not a cheap change for you. Why should I trust you, though? You haven’t proven your credibility with me, nor have you shown me competence with what you’re doing. Look at you showing that file to me just to gain my approval. How many people have you shown that and tried to pull into your group? How many of them accepted and declined? And out of those who declined, are you sure none of them will rat you out?"

"I only offered to those I knew would accept—and they all accepted! Since we’re all in this together, there is no way anyone would betray the group. The process of choosing members is very meticulous, and I’m only offering this to you since you are Mr. Jeon’s son. I know you have the same business intellect as him and would recognize a great opportunity before you despite the risk. Mr. Jeon would never back out of a simple risk."

"You make my father sound avaricious."

"Ah, no. That’s not what I meant to say. I just wanted to—"

"You are very careless with your words. You don’t know when to shut up."

His voice sounded more threatening as it continued.

’Agent Helios did warn me before never to touch his family. Poor Mr. Choi. You are SO done.’

"I apologize. I just wanted to—" Mr. Choi was at a loss for words, obviously feeling the menacing aura of my partner.

Agent Helios glared at him. His eyes looked down at him like he was some sort of an insect.

"I think we’re done for today."

"W-Wait! Please, Mr. Eun-Woo, if you would just let me—"

But then, Agent Helios stood up from his seat and walked away. I followed him while peeking back at Mr. Choi’s reaction. His eyes widened, and his face grew pale, probably imagining how doomed he was. He didn’t succeed in pacifying him and only made him angrier. I guess like father, like daughter. I wonder how they stayed as part of the Elites with that level of stupidity? Perhaps, they were just someone’s pawn or something. Oh well, it’s not my problem.

Mr. Choi tried to follow us, but our bodyguards stopped him. They had been with us since the beginning—at a distance so as not to disturb the business meeting, and they let me be when I roamed around earlier.

Afterward, we went straight outside, and the employees still bowed their heads in respect as we passed through. Then, to our car where our driver and other servants waited for us.

"Drive us back home," Agent Helios instructed him, to which the driver nodded.

Soon enough, we were home, and we went straight to our room. He probably wanted to discuss what happened with me as quickly as possible. Also, we needed to report back to Mythos with our findings and get my hacking device analyzed for its content. But before that, we ourselves checked it first to ensure it was what we needed.

Agent Helios took the hacking device from me and uploaded the data to his computer.

"Tsk. I knew it," he clicked his tongue as he read the data on his screen.

He sure works fast. I was still trying to analyze it on my own—it was a bunch of codes and numbers.

"What is it? Care to share?"

Sighing heavily and with eyes still fixed on the computer screen, he answered me.

"The file he showed me on his tablet—it’s living proof of accounting fraud."

"What? I thought we were looking for evidence of the pyramid scam? What the—he’s also doing accounting fraud?"

"Exactly. I’m surprised myself, especially since he was one of dad’s business partners. He had been cheating on my dad for years and dared show it to me! He probably thought I wanted to surpass my dad in business. He probably got intel on how I’m planning to be independent in my business instead of simply being dad’s heir."

"Huh? But how did he get that info? We just talked about it once before, and we’re planning to do that but haven’t actually done it. You haven’t announced it publicly, either."

"That’s why it’s suspicious. But this data you got has every evidence we need for accounting fraud. There’s also a bunch of names here who we can counter-check with Mythos data and see if they are connected to the pyramid scam. With this, our first task is complete. But before we submit this... I need to check something first."

There was no need to ask. I knew what he wanted to check.

"Who the hell is that mole?!" he snapped.
