Chapter 51: Honeymoon (Part 6)
’Indeed... why?
’Am I getting comfortable around him? Comfortable with his touch?
’Yeah... just like that time during our wedding—when I went nuts and cried in my anger. He was the one who embraced me and managed to calm me down.
’There were also many other scenarios that were quite similar, and now this.
’Am I beginning to rely on him?
’No. That shouldn’t be. I shouldn’t rely on anyone. Besides, I’m still not 100% sure I can trust him. I shouldn’t get comfortable with this.
’Yes, that’s right, Kim Ye-Ji. This is all a facade. It’s not real, so don’t be fooled.’
Pushing him away from me, I replied in the coldest tone I could do.
"There’s no need to make empty promises," I said. "Besides, you’re right. We never know when such things might be needed. This is an S-rank mission, after all."
Our eyes met, and his eyes shook a bit from what I said.
"That lesson about the Art of Seduction—I’ll study it, so you don’t need to worry about me being an incompetent partner."
"Hey, I said there’s no need—"
"You can’t say that for sure, so stop it!" I shouted at him. "Are you God that you know what will happen in the future? No, you’re not. So stop patronizing me. I’m not that weak for you to protect me."
He opened his mouth, ready to say his piece, but I turned my back away from him and walked towards my room. He didn’t say anything anymore. As soon as I reached my room, I banged the door close and slumped my body to bed.
"Haah... what a day this is."

[The next day...]
Ever since yesterday’s argument, we hadn’t been talking much with each other. But today, we had to drop that fact and work together to continue our facade. Like yesterday, we needed to wander around the area and have "accidental" encounters with Ms. Choi to see how she’s holding up and get our chance to extract intel from her.
And so, the day started again with us bearing fake smiles toward each other. We went to different tourist spots within the area and bought a lot of things while flirting and being sweet. Truly, how professional of us to keep the facade despite our negative emotions amongst each other.
As we expected, Ms. Choi placed some of her men to tail us. We informed our bodyguards about it and told them to let it be, which they followed accordingly. The rest of the day went peacefully. It wasn’t until the evening, when we came back to the hotel, that something unexpected happened.
We were having dinner at another luxurious restaurant inside the hotel at that time, and I went away for a bit to go to the bathroom. When I was about to return, I suddenly saw Ms. Choi sitting on my seat in front of Agent Helios, talking to him. Her men were around, though at a distance, probably to not alarm the other VIPs around. Despite that, the people couldn’t help themselves and threw curious glances at them.
Ms. Choi was smiling so happily as she talked with Agent Helios. Now that I’m observing her properly, she’s quite the beauty as well. Agent Helios spoke to her casually and gave her a formal kind of smile—after all, he’s supposed to be a loyal husband. I wondered how he was planning to seduce her into giving intel if he wasn’t going to flirt with her.
’This is the moment we’re expecting, right? In that case, I should give him more time to talk.’
I turned around, went back to the bathroom, and stayed there for a bit more time. Glancing at my watch, I calculated that about five minutes should be enough. He’s so good at manipulating people, so it shouldn’t be hard for him to do that, right?
After five minutes passed, I went out again to check their situation. To my surprise, Ms. Choi was being very aggressive, and Agent Helios’ face turned sour as if he was on the verge of getting annoyed at her.
Ms. Choi kept on touching his hand and arm, to which he kept on politely declining. Unsatisfied, she used her feet and brushed Agent Helios’ leg with them. The table’s cover didn’t reach the floor, so it was easy to see. She didn’t care about the reporters around anymore, disguised as regular guests, and proceeded in an aggressive route. This wasn’t what we expected. No wonder Agent Helios was pissed off.
’Hmm... Should I help him? But we need the intel. I wonder if he already got it?’
Checking my watch, he didn’t send me an SOS or any ping asking for help. That probably meant he still hasn’t gotten the intel we need. We agreed to notify each other through our smartwatches once we’re done getting the info so we can reconvene and talk about the next phase of the plan in our suite.
One ping for mission success and two for emergency or need of backup—but I didn’t receive any. Was it a tactic to gain her interest? When do I jump in to help? Should I help him at all, or would I end up being a distraction and sabotage his plan? But then, I still needed to consider my position as his wife and this act we’re trying to pull.
’Hmmm... Think, Kim Ye-Ji. You’re supposed to be his wife. What would you do if you saw another woman flirting with your husband? What was it again that happens in dramas when something like this happens?’
"Ah!" I blurted out to myself, finally realizing what it was.
Then, I breathed in and out, trying to focus myself on the act that I would do.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
I walked back to our table and stopped at its side. I turned my head towards Ms. Choi, who stole my seat and smiled at her.
"Oh, who do we have here?" I asked politely.
Ms. Choi was so busy drooling over Agent Helios at that time that she didn’t notice me approaching. When I spoke, she jolted a bit before turning to me.
"Ah, if it isn’t Ms. Kim," she replied to me in such a disrespectful manner. Calling me Ms. Kim when she knew I was his wife and, therefore, should be called Mrs. Jeon. "I’m Mira Choi, daughter of Roy Choi, one of his father’s business partners," she introduced herself. "Forgive me for occupying this space right now, but we’re talking about something important. If you don’t mind, spare us some time to talk, and you can use my reserved seat instead over there."
’What the f*ck. Ha-ha-ha. This woman is something else. Asking Eun-Woo’s wife to sit somewhere else so she could flirt with him? I wonder where she gets her confidence and courage? Is it because I’m considered a commoner compared to them?’
Pissed off, I humored her disrespectful behavior.
"There’s no need to worry about me, Ms. Choi," I said with much confidence. "You can continue talking all you want. I already have a seat."
Then, I walked toward Agent Helios, sat on his lap, and wrapped my arms around his neck. To top it off, I leaned my head on his shoulder.
"What else could be the best seat for me but my husband’s lap, right?"
