Chapter 137: The Deal (Part 2)

"Uhm. I really am. I’m far beyond the other sirens you brought in," Agent Hades said confidently. "That’s why I believe I am entitled to more. You see, I don’t take less than what I deserve."

"Hmmm..." Greed paused and pondered for a moment. "You do have a point. How about we do this instead? If you manage to bring twice the number of clients all the other sirens combined brought, then I’ll raise your share to 40%."

"Fifty. And not twice the amount. Just 1.5 is enough. If I go beyond that, then you should raise the share as well. Twice the number of clients is 60%, thrice is 70%, and so on."

"Ha-ha-ha. Perhaps I’m the one who should be calling you Greed."

"If you have a hundred sirens who give you a thousand clients, then doubling the numbers means the ratio would be one to two thousand. Comparing that with your initial one hundred is to one thousand, then you will be saving a lot of 30% from those hundred sirens you didn’t need to recruit because of me. I personally think I did my computation correctly, Mr. Greed."

Great tension filled the place once more. But this time, it seemed like Greed was considering the proposal. He breathed in deeply until, at last, he came up with a decision.

"Alright. I shall agree to your terms, except I am not willing to give you more than fifty. I want this to be a long-lasting partnership. Deliver me the 1.5 times more clients—just that and nothing more—and reserve the rest for the next batches. I’m pretty sure you can schedule them accordingly."

Hearing those words, Agent Hades gave him a captivating smirk.

"Good. I am very happy to hear that," he said. Then, reaching out his hand flawlessly, he added, "I’ll need a contract for it, bearing your real name and identification, of course. If not, I am not willing to do this transaction. I need to have leverage for myself, right? It’s quite unfair that you know me personally, but I don’t know you."

"Ha-ha-ha!" Greed laughed once more. "Of course. Now that we have come to an agreement, I shall write you a contract. You can notarize it yourself if you want and have my information verified," he easily agreed.

But then, in a cold tone, he continued.

"Do be reminded that laws, governments, or any other rule in this world CANNOT bind a Leg of Kraken. As our motto goes... WE make the rules. I hope you remember that. And that is why ’trust’ is more important than contracts and vows for us."

After that, he stood up, approached Agent Hades, and took off his mask.

"With that said, I shall take the first step in this new alliance built with trust. Now you know the face of the person you’re dealing with, and I believe I am quite familiar to you, am I right, Ms. Hyerin?"

My eyes widened when I saw his face.

"Jung Dae-Seong," Agent Hades said. "The most popular actor in the whole country. Why am I not surprised?"

Jung Dae-Seong. He was deemed as the best actor of his time, with the face of a divine manly angel—so innocent and pure. He could captivate anyone who saw him in mere seconds. And yet that angelic face hid one of the worst deadly devils—Greed.

After showing his face for a brief moment, he put on his mask again.

"I look forward to our future cooperation, Ms. Hyerin," he said, brushing the back of his hand to Agent Hades’ cheeks. "Not only that. I also look forward to the adult movie we will shoot together. F*cking you will be so awesome after all the headache you brought me tonight. Consider it my little revenge. I hope you don’t mind."

Agent Hades chuckled.

"Be my guest. I do hope you will be able to satisfy me."

"Ha-ha. I’m not satisfying you," Dae-Seong said as his hand moved from his cheek to his neck. "YOU are going to satisfy me."

But before he managed to strangle Agent Hades, he slapped his hand away.

"Uhm. We’ll see about that," he replied. "I shall await the contract in my home."

Then, Agent Hades got up and walked back to us.

"Let’s go."

Just like that, the negotiation ended, and we left the private room to return to the main event hall. It was good that Agent Hades didn’t allow Dae-Seong to touch his neck or he would have felt his Adam’s apple. That was why we covered it with a choker in the first place.

On the bright side, we already know the identity of one of the Legs of Kraken—Jung Dae-Seong. We should start investigating him as soon as possible. We might be able to find more clues about the other legs and plan out how to catch them fast! This had been a very fruitful mission.

As we walked back to the event hall, I noticed Agent Helios wasn’t his usual self. His body was shaking though he tried his best to stop it by clenching his fist tight that they almost—what the! It’s already bleeding!

I quickly held his hand and took it to see how deep he had injured himself. When I did, I felt how cold it was as compared to the usual warm hands he had. I looked up to see his expression, only to see him devastated beyond words. His eyes were shaking, and his lips turned pale and dry. His breathing—he was barely breathing!

"Hey," I said carefully as I drew my face close to him and tapped his cheeks gently. "What’s happening?"

I wanted to say his name so badly, but I couldn’t risk our identities being known.

Agent Helios didn’t respond to me, so I called him again and again and again.

Soon, Agent Hades noticed us. He quickly grabbed both our hands and pulled us towards the nearest restroom, pretending to act flirty with us. Once inside, he locked the door and checked if anyone else was inside. Good thing there was none, so he turned to Agent Helios and tapped his shoulders hard.

But then, Agent Helios remained the same... as if his mind was locked somewhere else...

Somewhere that was probably too dark for him to escape.
