Chapter 131: Back To The Mission
Chapter 131: Back To The Mission
I could imagine Eun-Woo giving him the death glares now. Ha-ha-ha! How amusing.
"So unfair," Agent Hades complained in a more mellow tone than earlier, almost as if he wanted to cry.
"Who’s unfair?" Eun-Woo asked in a tone so domineering. "I wonder if I should tell someone’s dark little secret to a certain flower."
"W-What the—Hey! That’s way beyond out of line, man!"
"Who’s out of line?"
"You... I mean, me," Agent Hades’ voice shook. "Damn it! Fine! I’m doing it! Curse you two lovebirds!"
After that, he stormed out of the room like a broken-hearted maiden. I could hear him deliberately making his footsteps heavier to make a statement. Meanwhile, Eun-Woo sighed and started walking in my direction, which was the bed.
I quickly shut my eyes, deliberately pretending I didn’t hear a single thing.
"I didn’t know you fancy eavesdropping, my dear wife," Eun-Woo said, chuckling. "You can stop pretending now. I know you’re already wide awake.
"Aww... Too bad I got caught," I replied with a smile as I slowly opened my eyes. "Well, I would still be asleep if your friend wasn’t too loud."
Eun-Woo simply laughed it off. He was still on his sleeping robe at that time, with his upper body barely covered, making his chest and abdomen still visible.
He then sat beside me and leaned in to kiss me briefly. I got up, pulling the sheets to cover my still naked body, and kissed him back, gently pecking on his lips.
"Good morning, my dear wife."
"Good morning."
"How’s your sleep?"
"Uhm, peaceful?"
"You’re not sure?"
"It was great," I chuckled. "And you?"
"Same."
He got closer and pulled me into a hug. I felt him kiss my shoulder, too.
Basking in the warmth of his embrace as soon as I woke up... felt really nice. I wouldn’t mind spending the rest of my mornings like this.
’Ahhh... so relaxing and comfortable. I wonder, since when had I become so comfortable with him? We’re acting so much like a real couple now—we don’t even need to pretend anymore. It just comes naturally even if we don’t have any experience on how relationships should be handled or how couples act. We learned a few from books and manuals, and movies, but nothing beats experience.
’Still, I have no complaints. I like it. And I like him... very much.’
Like an alluring trap, I almost got ensnared by his charms once again and forgot we still had a mission to do!
As soon as I remembered, I broke free from his clasps and asked.
"What happened to the spies we sent? We’re supposed to monitor them! And Agent Hades needs to review everything about Ms. Hyerin now that he agreed. Did you tell him we have a mission? And how are we going to infiltrate tonight’s party if Agent Hades will pretend to be Hyerin? What are we going to do with the real Hyerin? And what—"
I asked all those in a single breath. Eun-Woo simply gazed at me without a single hint of urgency on his face.
"It’s alright, my dear wife. Everything has been taken care of," he assured me. "I sent the details about Ms. Hyerin to Taehyung’ah yesterday, so he already studied it prior to coming today. Even if he complained a lot, he knew deep inside that he wouldn’t be able to change my mind, and in the end, he would eventually do it. And since that’s the case, I already made arrangements for the real Ms. Hyerin to ensure she won’t come to the party."
"Oh, okay. You asked your people to distract her?"
"Yeah, something like that," he smirked as he answered.
I wonder what kind of distraction that was for her to agree on not coming to the party?
"That’s... good then. But how about the spies?"
"I already reviewed the videos we missed yesterday afternoon and last night. I did it early this morning and got updated on the latest intel. One of them figured out a few known people that would be coming to the party. Another one let us into a few layouts of the place where the black party will be held. I already memorized how it looks, especially the escape routes we can use. And the child pretending to be Min-Su managed to get the details of the other kidnapped Elite children like him. I already sent the info to the base so they can contact their families and inform them that we have it under control."
Hearing those words, I was too stunned to speak. He did all that work early this morning?
Checking at the clock, it was only ten in the morning—how early did he get up? Even if he woke up at dawn, that would barely be four or five hours of work. That’s not enough when he needed to review what? Twelve hours or more of videos we missed? Doing all that in half the amount of time... Woah. Truly amazing. If he keeps this up, he’ll get the most credits once the mission ends. I mean, there was barely anything I was doing!
’No! I need to step up my game, too!’
"In that case, what else is there that I can do?" I asked him, feeling a little guilty for choosing pleasure over the mission yesterday.
"For now, you need to eat and relax," Eun-Woo said, smiling at me. "After that, you can review the new intel I told you about, and in the afternoon, prepare to come with Taehyung’ah to the black party. We’ll accompany him to the party as his bodyguards."
"That’s it? There’s nothing else I need to investigate or maybe help your people in distracting Ms. Hyerin? Or something else?"
"Ah, forgive me if I took much of the work, my dear wife. I just don’t want to see you exhausting yourself too much unless when we’re making love. That’s an exhaustion I will tolerate."
"Hey!" I snapped at him.
"Ha-ha-ha! Just kidding," he laughed. "Can you get up now? Let’s have some breakfast."
I squinted my eyes at him, wanting to say more and refute him, but then again, it would be a pointless argument, so I just sighed and got up. Then, we showered and went down to the dining area for breakfast. Agent Hades ate with us though he spent most of the time skimming on his phone while scowling. That only meant he wasn’t really hungry but was merely letting us see his intense disagreement.
"Hmp!"
"If only someone actually cares about me and understands my problem."
"I guess it’s wife over best friend now. Hmp."
Too bad we found it amusing. Eun-Woo and I caught glances at each other and shook our heads at his antics. He was like a child throwing a tantrum.
Once done, I went back to the room to review the latest intel, just as Eun-Woo suggested. To my surprise, the desk we were working on yesterday was all cleaned up, and all the intel was arranged in a single folder Eun-Woo forwarded to me. As usual, all the papers used were burned to leave no traces behind. Thanks to that, it made my review way easier. The data was organized so well that I just had to read through everything.
’Woaaah. Is this how it feels like to have a personal secretary?"
Thinking that, I realized something new about Eun-Woo once again. Well, it’s not THAT new, but still... when it comes to delegating tasks to his people, personally doing things that are out of their control and judgment, working so fast and organized—basically every single work ethic he had screams "great leadership". I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets scouted as a Captain, Inspector, or be one of the Chiefs in the future. He could do it.
And I would admit that those things were beyond my capabilities. I’m still used to working alone, taking orders, and executing just as what was asked. I have no sense of teamwork, and I’m barely building it with this partner of mine, let alone leadership skills. As for him, he might be used to working alone as well, but he knows how to handle his people and use them to his advantage while being careful not to tell them unnecessary things. Truly amazing.
’I really need to work harder in the future—much, much harder. Don’t worry, Agent Helios... I’m not planning to lose to you just yet. Someday, I’ll be able to reach that level of greatness. Watch me.’
With that in mind, I focused back on the mission and prepared the rest of the things we needed for tonight’s party.
Soon enough, evening came, and we all headed out stealthily towards a nearby forest, where we changed into our disguises. A car which was a copy of Ms. Hyerin’s car was already there, ready for us to use to come to the party. Agent Helios drove us to the location, which was none other than the ocean, and towards a... super yacht.
