Chapter 124: Sleepless Night (Part 1)
***
[Yoon-Ah POV]
[Two hours before her call with Agent Selene...]
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
"Ughhh..."
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
"Urgmmh..."
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
"Waaaaaaaaa!!! I can’t sleep!" I yelled to myself and furiously got up from bed.
The clock was so noisy, the water dripping from the faucet in my bathroom was also annoying, and even the sound of the air conditioning in my room kept me awake for some reason.
It was like the many other times I couldn’t sleep at night.
And it all started ever since "that" night when random men tried to assault me.
I know it had been a while, and I should be okay already—I should have yes, and I was okay... It’s just that... I couldn’t sleep, and I don’t know why.
"Haaah..." I sighed heavily as I glanced at the clock on my bedroom’s wall pointing to three in the morning.
’I wonder what’s wrong with me? Should I get help? A little consultation wouldn’t hurt, right? But no, I couldn’t possibly do that. Everyone would think I’m crazy!’
And so, I sighed again. How I wish sleep visits me as often as it visits my brother.
Shaking my head, I paced around the room, walking back and forth, thinking about what to do to pass time.
’I could draw... but I’m not in the mood.’
’I could eat... but I’ll end up waking mom, and she’ll reprimand me.’
’I could... watch movies? Read books like my favorite manhwa? Or maybe stalk handsome idols? Yeah. I should do that. Inspiration should strike once I see some gorgeousness!’
Thinking that, I turned my computer on. While waiting for it to boot up—I had to since apparently, I’m running out of space, so it’s going slow on me now—I went to my tea corner to brew some tea for myself.
"Poor me. I wonder when will riches and money and fortune visit me," I said as I looked at my slow computer. "I should work hard to earn lots! Don’t worry, my little computer, I shall upgrade you soon!"
I then plugged in the electric kettle to heat up the water. As I waited for the water to boil, I stared at the relaxing scenery from my window. My little tea corner was beside my room’s window and had a great view of the moon. There weren’t any tall buildings around our house, so it was nice.
"The moon is really beautiful. I should draw this."
Thinking that, I looked down at the desk to check if I had any blank paper lying around. My room was a mess since I hadn’t had the energy to clean it yet, so everything was all over the place. Seeing my sketchbook on the far end, I quickly grabbed it, along with some pencil on my pen holder, and started sketching.
Soon enough, the electric kettle was done heating the water. I then poured in the tea I got from Mr. Seo-Hyuk into a cute tea glass, followed by the hot water. He gave me so many tea leaves that I hadn’t finished them all.
"Ahh... this smells amazing. It really calms my soul in an instant," I grinned so happily as I smelled the precious tea. "I should have given some to Ye-Ji’ya. I completely forgot to offer. Oh well, I can give it to her next time she visits."
While I was busy doing nothing, I noticed someone walking in the streets below.
"Wow. Some people seemed to be unable to sleep like me."
I lazily sat down on the chair beside my window and watched the man walking to I don’t know where—just me being curious about random stuff when I have nothing to do.
Yeah. It was supposed to be like that. Just a little curiosity about random stuff that was happening around me...
But then...
The man I saw... he walked towards Mr. Seo-Hyuk’s apartment and went in as if he owned the place—he had a key and everything, carrying a plastic bag of chips from the store. His apartment could be seen from my room since I was pretty high up on the third floor, and the road towards his apartment was curved down, making mine higher.
Now that I think about it, my room was the perfect spot for spying on my neighbors! Woah! Why did I only think of that now? I could have been inspired by the many stories around me!
’Aishhh... Lee Yoon-Ah, that’s illegal, okay? You should remember what Ye-Ji’ya told you before. What are you, a paparazzi? Dispatch? News reporter?’
"Fine. I won’t do it."
Why was my conscience always so pure and clean, always stopping me from doing bad things?
Anyway—back to the man I saw.
My eyes went back in his direction. He was done unlocking the door, so he just casually came inside.
He wore a sleeveless hoodie that hid his head, and he had the same build as Mr. Seo-Hyuk—tall, pale white skin, with lean muscles. But I’m pretty sure it wasn’t him. Mr. Seo-Hyuk walks a little differently, and he has a nice posture on his body.
Aside from that, I remember he had a tattoo on his right upper arm. Some tentacle thingy or tail of some sort.
"Maybe his brother?" I murmured to myself as I sipped the tea I had just made. "He did mention he has a brother. He’s probably good-looking, too, except for the bad posture."
Just as I was speculating whatever came to mind, another man came out of the house. This time, it was Mr. Seo-Hyuk! I’m sure since the posture was better now and he walked elegantly like usual.
"Hm? That’s weird. Why are they wearing the same thing?"
Ha-ha-ha! Some brotherly love that was.
Mr. Seo-Hyuk walked to the same street where the other man came from. I thought of saying hi to him once he passed by our house, but then a couple of men suddenly appeared from nowhere!
Startled, I hid at the side of my window, thinking they were bad men.
’Wait... I shouldn’t be hiding! What if Mr. Seo-Hyuk was in danger?!’
Thinking that, I quickly hid myself behind the curtain and peeked below. Good thing the light in my room wasn’t on, or they would have noticed me!
When I looked again... I was again dumbfounded by what I saw.
