Chapter 76: Marry Who?.... The Other Traitor.. Save Mildred...

Helion was about to step out when he sensed that someone was coming.

"Aren’t you going too far, Baron Abellarde?" Said the voice who just came in, and Helion recognized that it was his father who just came.

"Y-your Majesty," Helion looked at them as he was still hiding from the corner of the column. He saw that the baron bowed to his father, who seems to be pissed at what he heard from the baron himself.

"P-pardon, Your Majesty." He continued as he was sweating.

"Why are you deciding for the crown prince marriage? Are you his father? His mother?" Helion heard what the Emperor said as he sighed. It looks like he was just trying to hold his anger as his mother was there at that time.

"Your Majesty!" Helion heard what his mother said as he was giving some warnings to his father, who seems not to care.

"No, Empress! I’ve been holding my words towards them as I knew how fond you were with their daughter, but it seems like you value the lady more than your son. I’ve been trying to understand you, and maybe now that your son was missing because you kept on insisting that he should get married to the Abellarde lady, which is why he would rather suffer the curse of our family than to obey you. I thought you would finally realize your mistake, but it seems like you didn’t." The Emperor said as he sighed as he looked at his mother, who was shocked at what she was hearing at his father.

"And you!" The Emperor said as he pointed at Baron Abellarde. "You were the reason why the duke and the empire were split, as you kept on feeding poison in the Empress’s head," the Emperor said as he started walking, but he stopped when he was near the door.

"I hope you have some big explanation why my men found some black mana stones in one of your people." The emperor said, which made his mother and the Baron Abellarde still.

Helion sighed as he went out from where he was hiding and saw his mother, surprised to see him.

"Helion." He heard her say, and he just shook his head. There he was; he almost fell on his mother’s tears awhile ago, but it seems like she was thinking of agreeing with the baron again to marry Noraya.

He left the place as he was feeling like he couldn’t breathe.

He always did everything she said. He and his father, as they both thought that it would be good for his mother, but it seems like they need to stop everything she wants. Not that they don’t love her or they were angry at her.

It was rather to protect her from getting more used by those people around them, like the baron.

The baron who thinks so highly of himself because he has the Empress on his back, the Empress who were the crown prince and the Emperor, always follows.

Now he and his father were both done pleasing his mother.

Maybe coming here after all was a mistake...

Acantha looked at the door when she heard a knock from it.

"Come in," she said as she looked at the door; she knew it was Evander who was in Mildred’s form.

"My lady." She heard her say, and Acantha tried to plaster her sweetest smile to avoid him getting suspicious.

She tracked him when he went away this afternoon, but the book says that he was still here in the duchy.

Must he didn’t leave the place and just pretended to go to his father, when in fact he

was just there lurking in the garden.

"Where have you been, Mildred?" she asked while she was still smiling at the fake Mildred, who seemed to be uneasy and was looking around the room.

"I went to Benedict, my lady." The fake Mildred said as she sighed.

"Why? Is there something wrong with Benedict?" She asked; she knew that he did go to that place, based on what the book says on the map that was connected to it.

"Nothing, My Lady, I just missed them." She said as she was still trying to support her lies, or should she say his lies?.

"But someone saw that you were inside the room when the fire happened." Acantha said, and she saw that the fake Mildred paled at what she said.

"I-I jumped to the balcony." She said as she pointed to her balcony.

"But I thought you were scared of high places?" Acantha asked innocently, and she saw how the fake Mildred stiffened on her question.

"I didn’t want to die; that’s why I put on some blankets and jumped on the balcony." Mildred said to her, and Acantha just nodded her head as if she were satisfied with her answer.

"Just take some rest, Mildred; today must be a traumatizing day for you." Acantha said as she dismissed her, and she even heard her sighed at what she said.

"Thank you, my lady." She said as she walked her way out of her room.

Acantha went to her bed and got the map out of her bed as she watched where the fake Mildred went.

She was sure that he was going to where the real Mildred was.

The map was not an ordinary map; it showed where Mildred was in details and who she was talking to, and she could also hear them.

Acantha straightened her back when she saw from the map that Mildred didn’t go back to her quarters but instead, she went to get the book, which is why she can see him now in his original form.

"I should take this book away from here; I think Acantha might suspect me if she notices in the morning that the book is gone." Acantha was surprised when Evander went out from the duchy and saw him go to their county, which is not surprising as in which place should he hide Mildred and the book? But does the count even know what his son was doing? Her father believes that the count was innocent after all.

Evander walked inside the house and-

"Where have you been, Evander?" She heard someone ask him, which made him stop walking.

"Did you go to that girl again? I told you to focus yourself on doing what you need to do." The man said as Evander was just listening to him while lowering his head.

"It seems like she was more important to you than your mother." The voice said, which made Acantha frown as far as she knew Evander doesn’t have a mother and that no one knew who his mother was.

"I apologize, father," Acantha heard him say, which made her gasp.

She didn’t know that the count was behind these things, but why? Isn’t he her father’s closest friend?

"As you should, what about that woman there?" The count asked Evander, which made Acantha listen to it carefully as she has a hunch that he was talking about Mildred.

"She was still there at that place," she heard Evander say while he sighed.

"I told you to finish her already; we already got the book, and beside you don’t need to go to the Solaris duchy," Acantha heard him say, and when he said those, that’s when she just felt that the necklace she was wearing was reacting to the thing she was seeing.

Acantha saw Evander nod as his father dismissed him; he walks out of the house again, and not far from the count’s house there was a small house that looked like it was abandoned, and he opened it.

There she saw Mildred, who was tied, laying on the ground.

Acantha got up from her bed where she was sitting, and she saw the Flamear also get up, and he was looking at her.

"You feel it?" Acantha asked if Flamear also felt the necklace flaring as it was reacting to the person she saw on the map she made.

"We should get Mildred first; from what I saw, Evander was going to kill her." Acantha said as she was wearing her coat, as she was just wearing her nightgown.

Flamear nodded at her, and when she finished, he teleported them to the county, but before they could enter, they were stopped by a barrier.

Too good Flamear managed it well without the caster noticing them.

Acantha looked at the door where Mildred was, and she heard some voices from inside.

"I am sorry, Mildred." She heard Evander say to Mildred.

"Don’t do this, please." She head Mildred said as she was pleading for her life to Evander.

"You need to die." Evander said, and Acantha opened the door and used her power against Evander, which made him collapse on the floor and lose his consciousness.

She looked at Mildred, who was also unconscious that time, as Flamear went on her and untied her and put her on his back.

Acantha uses her power to erase Evander’s memory of who attacked him tonight, even though he didn’t see her, as she was faster than him before he could even turn around.

Acantha took a glance at him again and sighed.

"Let’s go," Acantha said, and then they disappeared from the place.
