Chapter 29: The Dragon , The Beast, And Assassination?

Acantha was strolling in the garden with Flamear who seems to be liking the place as he was laying in the grass as he was taking a nap with her.

She looks at the sky and appreciate how bright it is, Mildred left to get them their snacks. They arrived for more than two hours, and she can say she was not used in travelling by magic, though it was more convenient and easier her body is new to it and was still adapting, too good that Flamear was with them as Hernand already left the night when they went home from the forest as he said that he has a lot of obligations in the imperial family.

Acantha didn’t know but she fell asleep.

Flamear was sleeping, it’s been so while seen he was out from that place, and now he was at the capital with his new master.

He looked at beside him and saw that his master was sleeping. Before they left the place where he had been sleeping for a long time he made sure that no one with any dark energy or dark magic can enter the palace.

He was about to go back to his nap when he sense somethings aura, this familiar aura he has sense this before, but impossible.

Flamear shook his head as it’s impossible that he was sensing a dragon right now, according to Elida the Dragons had been long gone at the same time as the war ended, the only thing he said is there are still some people who had been blessed by the dragons before they got wiped out, so ? Why is he sensing a dragon?

He followed where he sense the aura and he transformed his self into a smaller tiger to avoid attracting some attention from who might it be.

Flamear walk and walk until he reach where the main door of the house is and there he saw a man who seems to just arrived

He went near that man and looked at him as he blocked his way. He sniff again and he can confirmed that the smell that he smelt awhile ago was from this man, is he dragon himself? if he’s just a descendant then his smell should be just faint.

Helion looked surprised he just got arrived and saw a small beast, does the duke got a new pet? or is this some monster? but he can’t sense any dark energy within the small beast, he looked at it again when he felt it sniffed him.

The beast seems to be a baby one base on its size, He looked around to see if someone was chasing it and when he didn’t see anything he lift it.

"Are you lost?" He said coldly to the beast as he lift it up and examine its face. The beast wiggled and make a small growled at him, it seems like it didn’t like the way he examined its face.

"Why are you roaming around here?" He asked as if the beast will answer him.

He looked around again to see if someone was looking for it but again no one seems to be looking at it.

He walked inside the house and he can see the people there were too busy to mind the beast that he was holding.

"Your highness" Everyone greeted him when they notice that he was there, he also notices that they seem not to know the about the beast that he was holding.

"Where’s lady Acantha?" Helion asked and he can see the confusions on their eyes when he asked them.

"You didn’t know that they were here?" He asked as he looked at servants who looks down when they didn’t answer him.

"No, Your highness we are not notice about their arrival," The maid said as she looks down.

Helion sighed as he left them , he went to the other side of the place, it must the duke uses some mana stone to travel in a direct place that he wanted to go.

Acantha wake up when she felt something brush on her face, she got it away from her face and saw that it was a leaf, she looked at her side to see if Flamear was still there but she was none.

"Lady, I’m sorry I just got here. The cook just made this one," She heard Mildred who just arrived.

"It’s okay, Mildred. Have you seen Flamear?" Acantha said as she looks around and saw none.

Mildred was about to answer when she felt like an object was coming," Mildred!" She said as she pulled Mildred down which cause for the food to feel in the ground.

She looks at the flying object and there she saw that it was an arrow. Her eyes grew big as they were almost hit by it.

"L-lady" Mildred said as she pointed at something.

Acantha turn around and saw that there were some men who was hiding their faces with their clothes. She looks stunned when they draw their sword and launch to her.

Mildred pulled her to get up, and they ran.

How is it possible that the assassins where here inside the duchy?

They were still running when suddenly the man who was wearing the same thing from the man who were chasing them appears like a smoke and use his swords to them.

Acantha caught it’s arm and kick where it hurts. She was about to pull Mildred who seems to be scared to run to the other side when they saw that they were surrounded.

Damn, they were caught.

Another man tried using it’s sword again, and she caught it’s arm and twist it, she got the sword and she pushed Mildred to her back as, she was attacked by them.

She used the sword against them, she stabbed one of them when she saw that he was attacking her from her behind.

Acantha cut her clothes so it won’t get on her way. She was again caught when someone attack her from above, she put’s her hand and wait for her to be hit when she felt something strange force coming out from her hand and she heard an explosion.

She looks at the men who were attacking her as they stopped, they too look confused at what happend.

They were about to attack her again when someone appeared and this time it was not to hurt her but to help her.

She saw Flamear changes it’s form before Helion could even draw the sword., Flamear growled at them and a very big light appeared when he did.

Acantha sighed as the assassins who were attacking her was gone in a thick air, She looks at Helion who looks a little bit surprised as he was raising his eyebrow at Flamear.

She looks back at Mildred who was on her side now, "Are you alright Mildred?" She ask and the woman nodded at her.

"What about you Lady Acantha? Are you alright?" She felt goosebumps when felt some breath near her face as she heard a deep voice came from Helion, who was leaning at her and face inches away?

"Yes, I’m alright," She said and didn’t looked at him if she did their lips will meet. " Can you please move ?" She asked politely.

Helion moves away from her and she turned around, Flamear who was small again jump into her arms.

"What are you doing here?" She asked as she look at the man who was now looking at her, She rarely can read this man attention if not for his eyebrows.

"I was visiting to see if you are good," He said as he looked down on her arms. "Is that yours?" He asked as he point at Flamear who didn’t seem to like it as he growled at him.

"Yes, this is mine." She said as she pat Flamear telling him to behave.

"That’s a divine beast as now I can confirm from what he did a while ago." He said a he looked at Flamear again.

Acantha didn’t answer as she just look at Flamear who was still glaring at Helion.

"Where did you found him? In the North?" He asked to her.

No, she can’t said that she found it in the North as she knew that this man has a long interest of finding the secrets in the North, that was also one of the reason why Acantha gave up the forest to Noraya as he traded it with her that if he will marry her then she will give it to Acantha, which is stupid. Acantha didn’t knew what she lose just to get the affection of the man who despises her and hate her for tearing him and his love apart.

And NO WAY SHE’S GONNA TELL IT TO HIM!

"No, we found it on our way there," She said as she lied to him, she won’t give anything for his curiosity only to use it against her.

Helion just nodded to her.

"Why are there some assassins here?" Helion asked as he look at where the assassins were a while ago.

"I don’t know, I just woke up from taking a nap, and was talking to Mildred when there was a flying arrow coming to our direction," She said as she looks back at where they left, maybe she can show the arrow to her father later.

"Where the arrow?" Helion asked and she raise her brows at her.

"I think it’s not your business anymore, Your highness " I said as I turn away to walk to where the arrow was when we heard a pop.
