Chapter 23: The Attack

Acantha was feeling tired as she was just sitting all day in the carriage, the journey was very long and they still haven’t arrived yet to the North as the Duchy of Solaris was very far from where they are going.

The carriage stopped which made her frown, Mildred went out to see what was going on.

" My lady the duke asked us to stop as there is a small house here which you can use to clean yourself," Mildred who just came back said as she was waiting for her at the door and there she saw a small house.

Acantha goes to the house as the nature has been calling her but she was just too shy to ask them to stop the carriage for her. When she step inside she saw that the house might be small but it looks very decent inside.

"Whose house is this Mildred?" I asked as I looked around and saw no one was there except for the knights who were waiting for us outside the house.

"This house is one of the villagers house that they let someone to rent it when they were on their way to travel far," Mildred said as she give me some clothes, we went inside a room and saw that it was nice.

Mildred helped me to take a bath, and get dressed, when I finished , we went back again to the carriage and the knights escorted us back, " Mildred have you seen father?" I asked as I didn’t saw him when we took a break from travelling.

"The duke was in front, My lady," He was guiding as on our way there and making sure that our journey will be safe as it will take two days before we could even reach the North," Mildred said and I just looked down.

I nodded when I was about to lay down on inside the carriage when suddenly the carriage move like something hit it, Mildred looks like she was surprised too.

"Monster!"

"Monster!"

I heard someone shouted outside the carriage, I tried peeking to see what was going on, when the door someone tries to opened the door and it moves like we were shaken by an earthquake.

"My l-lady." Mildred said as she looks like she was scared because of what was happening right now.

I was about to move to her when it feels like someone hold the carriage and I can feel that we were lift into air.

Shitt, I thought this thing is an anti magic carriage? And why is there a monster in the this place?

I heard Mildred screamed when the carriage was thrown back in the land and it made a loud crack, the force of being thrown hit us and I grown in pain, but the carriage was still intact like it was not thrown from above.

"Are you alright, Lady?" Mildred asked as she finally get to where I was, she too was flinching as she was enduring the pain from being thrown.

"It hurts Mildred. I said as it really hurts good thing the magic in the carriage might still be there and if not me and Mildred would get a serious injury or worst we are dead by now.

"AKIIII!"

"MILDRED!"

We look to the door when we heard the Duke screamed, not too long we heard some knocks on the door Mildred and I both held our breathe , "Aki, are you still there?" When we heard that it was the Duke who was banging the door from the outside of the carriage , Mildred and I both let go of our breath.

"Father, we’re here" I said as I looked at the Mildred who was now sitting in relief. I felt the carriage was being pulled from it was.

When the door finally opened , the duke went to get me and hugged me as soon as he get me out from the carriage.

I looked just to see some chaos around us there are still some monsters who the knights were fighting, the monster looks scary as it face looks like a deformed dead body.

Mildred got out from the carriage, the duke left us in a secure place, hiding form a big stone not so far where the attack was, the duke went back there and here I am again as useless and as stupid who can’t do anything but to watch, I saw how the knights were fighting the monster but it seems like it was just doing some minor injuries to the monster who wasn’t even flinching from getting hurt.

I saw the duke was hit by a monster as he was fight the other one. I can feel my heart-beats fast as I saw the monster tried to stomp on the duke.

I can feel my pulse palpitating..

I felt a terrible pain in my head as I watch it, my visions starts getting blurry again, am I going to lose my consciousness again?

"L-lady Acantha?!!" I heard Mildred scream as she shook me before everything went dark.

Arthur was sweating real hard as he was fighting the monster he was just using some small amount of his mana as he knew that it will affect his daughter if he uses his real power.

This damned monster that Tenebrisaya created was hard to killed.

He saw a monster who was running to his direction, Arthur wave his sword as if he was slicing something in the air.

He duck when he saw the monster breathe fire. He held his sword tightly as he saw one big monster came after another.

Why does it seems like the monster was not getting lessened but instead there are more and more coming on their way.

Arthur jump when the monster launches at him, he stabbed the monster on it’s back and continued to slice it while he was using his speed.

The monster dropped on it’s knees but it was still alive. He put his hands on it’s head grabbed it to detach it from it’s body and throw it in the fire as well as it’s body.

He saw one monster came near where the carriage of his daughter is, Arthur’s eyes grew big when he saw how the monster lift the carriage on air.

He might let some magician make a spell on it for an Anti magic but he didn’t anticipate that they were gonna be attacked by the monsters from Tenebrisaya as the North and the other way got some barriers not letting any people who has an Teneberisayan blood on their body.

This only mean two things, it’s either there are or is some from the Tenebrisaya who sneak at their kingdom, or there is someone who betrayed their empire and got this monsters with them.

He was back to reality when he saw that the monster threw the carriage near a cliff.

He tried catching the carriage with his magic when nothing works.

"Shit" Arthur cursed when he realized that the carriage has an anti spell and magic cast on it.

To his anger he threw some lightning to the monster and lift himself using his own power and went to attacked it, he sliced the monster as he stabbed it on it’s chest, but still it wasn’t enough he cut it’s head and destroyed it using his power which made the monster’s body stopped from wiggling and suddenly it turned into an ashes.

Arthur can smell the blood of the monsters he just killed but his attention was not on them anymore, he need to make sure his daughter was safe.

"AKIIII!"

"MILDRED!"

He shouted for his daughter and her maids name as he was running near to the carriage.

"Father, we’re here" He heard his daughter shouted back as he was near.

He knock on the door as he cannot just break it as the carriage was in a difficult position, one wrong move and it will fall in the cliff.

Arthur pulled the carriage away from the cliff, he uses his all strength as his power won’t work if he uses it there to pull it.

When he finally succeeded he opens the door and pulled his daughter out, he hugged her when he was sure she was safe.

He brought her and Mildred in a not so far place where he would hide them from the monster, he kissed his daughter’s forehead as he bid goodbyes and went back to where his knights were still fighting the monsters.

He saw one of his youngest knight fell on its knees was about to be eaten by the monster when he threw his swords on in, the monster stopped and the knight looked at him, he give him a sign to leave.

He was hit by a monster when he was fight the other one, his body too was feeling tired as he still hasn’t sleep since yesterday when they went on their journey to the north.

"L-lady Acantha?!" He heard someone screamed and when he looked back he saw Mildred was shaking his daughter.

He tried to move his body but the monster caught him again. He uses his strength to fight back when suddenly.

The ground was shaking. There are some explosion was happening.

But Arthur was wondering why was the monster were only hit by the explosion.

He look at where his daughter is when he felt that the monster was trying to kill him was gone.

He can’t believe what he was seeing.

He saw his daughter was walking towards them, and every time she moves her feet the monster were exploding.

Her eyes, they are now in different shades of gold.

Her hair that was dancing in the winds looks like a flame.

She raises her hands and Arthur didn’t know and hear what she was saying but when she did that. There were a big light that engulfs the whole place, and all the monster was gone and was turned into an ashes.

He also felt a warm light brushes his skin and he notice he wasn’t feeling tired anymore or any pain that he has in his body was all gone.

He looked around and saw that his soldier were also healed, and the one who was also dying was healed, it’s too good that no one died from the incident as everyone knew how to defeat the monster only they got a little out of hand as there are so many of them.

He get up from where he was lying and turned to where his daughter is, he can’t believe she just uses her power.

Her power that his wife sealed when she was born.

"F-father" He heard his daughter said and her for appearance went back again.

He rushes when he saw that his daughter was falling as she was losing her consciousness.

"LADY ACANTHA!" Arthur shouted when Acantha fell, and he was glad he catches her before she hit the ground.

He tried checking her when he felt that her pulse were weak.

"Shit" He hissed as he saw how pale his daughter is.

He took something from his pocket it was mana stone which helped them to go through to go the north faster, and he uses it and motion his knights to follow.

He knew it will have some effects on Acantha but he needed to use it for her.

As soon as they arrived the Klartis Duchy he took Acantha to his old wife’s room when she was still the young lady of this castle and let her rest. He left her with Mildred.

He went to his own room as he knew that his knights were settling their selves inside the castle

He uses the communication tool that he had on his room to summoned Hernand.

"Where here now, Hernand and I needed your help," He said pleadingly as he looked at his old friend face in the communication tool that he was using.

"Is there something wrong with your journey?" The latter asked as he looks worried.

"We were attacked by Tenebrisayan Monster," He said and he heard a loud bang in Hernand side which he didn’t what was it.

"Just get in here and I will tell you everything, and please just don’t bring anyone with you," He said as he ended the call from the tool.
