Chapter 130: Chapter-130.

The lion groaned and raised both his paws to cover his head like a guilty kid. He let out a series of low growls, clearly trying to protest.

"Rrrrhh... Rrrrrhh!!"

(What the....what did i even do ).

"Oh, shut up!" Abaya snapped. "Don’t act like you’re the victim!"

She looked back at Kaya with an apologetic smile, still fuming at her brother.

"I swear, he has no brain. Just muscles and fur."

Kaya still hadn’t moved.

Her brain had registered exactly three things:

1. She just got yelled at for being stunned.

2. This lion got beat up again.

3. Abaya’s face was really close.

Too close.

Suddenly, Kaya felt a small tug on her jacket.

She turned and saw Rin standing there, looking at her with a puzzled face.

She snapped out of her thoughts. "Oh—right." Then she looked back at the woman and said, "Kaya. My name is Kaya."

Abaya smiled warmly. "Nice to meet you, Kaya. So, dear customer, what can I get you?"

Kaya’s eyes shifted to the meat on display. "Um... this meat. Is it fresh?"

Abaya’s smile widened with pride. "Of course! It was hunted just last night. Still fresh, totally fresh! Come, come—I’ll show you!"

Before Kaya could even react, Abaya grabbed her wrist and started pulling her closer to the stall. Normally, Kaya hated being touched—but somehow, she didn’t pull away this time. Her hand stayed in Abaya’s without much thought.

Abaya pointed at the meats with energy. "This one’s mountain goat. That one’s from a river deer. This big one here? Boar meat—tough, but perfect when roasted!"

Kaya wasn’t really hearing any of it.

She was just... watching Abaya’s lips move.

Then—

"Kaya? Kaya? Kaya!"

"Huh?" Kaya blinked quickly.

Abaya gave her a concerned look. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," Kaya nodded, rubbing her temples, "just a bit tired."

Then she cleared her throat. "Actually... I was wondering... would it be possible to get regular fresh meat? Like, enough for fifteen people... for three to four months?"

Abaya stared at her, stunned. "Fifteen people?! For three to four months?"

Kaya nodded slowly. "Yeah. How much would that cost?"

Abaya blinked again, trying to do the math in her head. "That’s... a lot of meat."

Kaya added quickly, "I can pay in salt. Is that okay?"

Abaya’s eyes lit up. "Salt?" She grinned. "Of course! Salt’s as good as coin around here!"

Then she leaned in slightly, serious now. "So how much salt do you have? Let’s figure this out."

Before Kaya could even answer, Abaya suddenly grabbed her hand again.

"Come," she said brightly, "let me show you something!"

Kaya barely had time to react as Abaya pulled her toward the back of the stall, weaving past crates and meat racks. Kaya stumbled a little but didn’t protest—again, oddly okay with the touch.

They reached the back, where a large wooden box was covered with a thick cloth.

Abaya crouched down and pulled the cloth aside. Inside were tightly wrapped bundles of meat, stored with care between layers of herbs and cool stones.

"This is our reserve stock," Abaya said proudly. "We only keep the best here. Most of this hasn’t even been shown to customers yet. If you want to buy for the long term, this is the kind of quality you’ll get."

Kaya leaned in and looked. The cuts were clean, no flies, no bad smell—just fresh, well-handled meat. She could tell this wasn’t some random street stall stuff. It was real work.

She nodded slowly. "You’re serious about this."

Abaya smiled. "Of course I am. My family’s been hunters and butchers for years. We may look wild, but we know how to care for what we catch."

"How much would you charge for the meat?" Kaya asked, finally breaking the moment. "Let’s start with that."

At that, Abaya’s smile shifted. It was no longer light or playful. It turned serious—almost sharp.

She didn’t answer right away.

Instead, she sat down slowly on a nearby stone, crossing her legs with grace and ease, her golden eyes watching Kaya closely.

But then she said something unexpected.

"Before we talk prices, let me ask you something."

Kaya stayed quiet.

"You said you have fifteen people," Abaya continued, voice steady. "And from the way you talk, I’m guessing none of them are herbivores. So... why can’t you hunt for them?"

The words weren’t harsh, but there was a bite to them. A quiet challenge.

Kaya’s expression didn’t change much. But inside, she scoffed.

Of course.

She had expected this. The moment she felt that strange pull toward this woman—the moment her heart skipped in ways it never should—she’d known something was off.

Because a lioness wasn’t easy.

They were smart. Proud. And often the real rulers of their prides. While the lion slept, it was the lioness who hunted, protected the cubs, ran the territory.

No one should underestimate a lioness.

So how could someone like her—sharp-eyed, strong, commanding—be so friendly? So bright and welcoming? So... easy?

She’s not, Kaya thought. No way she is.

And now, this woman who moments ago was dragging her by the hand, smiling and laughing, was sitting across from her like a quiet hunter watching prey move.

Kaya narrowed her eyes slightly, then answered with a cold, dry smile.

Kaya sighed and lowered herself onto a flat stone nearby, sitting cross-legged. One hand absently brushed her hair back behind her ear as she looked up at Abaya, her expression unreadable.

"Well," Kaya said dryly, "don’t you already know about me?"

Abaya chuckled, her golden eyes sparkling with amusement. "Oh yeah. Who doesn’t?"

She leaned forward a bit, resting her elbows on her knees.

"The female who knocked out three Bulltribesmen in broad daylight. The one who somehow gathered a bunch of Nikala beastmen without paying a single coin." She tilted her head slightly, her grin sharp. "And the same one who has the entire market buzzing since yesterday."

Then she turned her gaze to Rin, who stood quietly behind Kaya.

Her smile dropped.

Her eyes turned cold.

"Especially when certain people talk too much," she said, voice calm but cutting.

Rin flinched and quickly lowered his head, shoulders stiff. He didn’t say a word.

Kaya saw it.
