Chapter 662: Love Rival?

Chapter 662: Chapter 662: Love Rival?

"Come to the house at noon tomorrow; my mom won’t be home. My dad wants to talk with you some more. Remember to bring good tea leaves. No need to reply; I’m going to take a shower."

Li Feng looked at the inexplicable message on his phone. Mu Yuyan’s father wanted to see him?

At the Mu family home before, Mu Yuyan’s father hadn’t spoken a word, but Li Feng didn’t think the man would have a different opinion of him.

Forget it.

Li Feng shook his head, not giving it more thought. In the past few days, Li Feng had no choice but to stay close to Mu Yuyan for protection, to ensure no one took advantage of any openings to kidnap her.

After all, Zheng Xi was the son of a big shot from the Sky Wolf Association, and he wasn’t known for playing by the rules.

The next day.

"Young Master Feng, here are the items you wanted."

Wang Qian personally handed two carrier bags to Li Feng. Li Feng hummed a response, placed the items in his car, and then drove straight to the Mu family building.

After smoking a cigarette downstairs and checking the time—he saw it was just past eleven—he took the two carrier bags out of the car and went up to ring the doorbell of the Mu family home.

"Who is it?"

Mu Yuyan went to the entranceway, peered out through the peephole, and was dumbfounded when she saw Li Feng.

Mu Yuyan’s mother also heard the doorbell and poked her head out of the kitchen. "Yuyan, who is it? Why don’t you open the door?"

"Ah, oh!"

Mu Yuyan hurriedly opened the door and looked at the figure standing outside. "Why have you come?"

"Weren’t you the one who asked me to come?"

Li Feng said.

Mu Yuyan rolled her eyes. "When did I ask you to come?" Then her gaze swept over the bags Li Feng was holding. Did the stimulation from her mom yesterday make him come to his senses today?

Was he getting serious and actually wanting to pursue her?

"Yuyan, who is it?"

Mu Yuyan’s mother, wearing an apron, walked to the entranceway and instantly saw Li Feng. Mu Yuyan realized she couldn’t hide Li Feng now that her mother appeared behind her.

"Mom."

Mu Yuyan feared her mother wouldn’t show Li Feng any mercy and would turn him away, but her mother spoke calmly, "Since he’s here, let him in."

Mu Yuyan blinked, confused by this reaction. Her mother had looked down on Li Feng just yesterday, so why the change of heart today?

"Come in first." Mu Yuyan turned around to let Li Feng in, and he immediately noticed an extra pair of men’s leather shoes in the entranceway.

"There’s a guest here!"

"Hmm, one of my dad’s students," Mu Yuyan explained. Li Feng responded with a nod, his eyes darting around as if he’d figured something out; he followed silently into the living room.

"Dad, Li Feng is here."

Mu Tiantao responded nonchalantly, as if he wasn’t surprised. "Come in; take a seat."

"Who is this?"

A young man sitting across from Mu Tiantao at the chessboard turned to look at Li Feng, sizing him up. His gaze also swept over the gifts Li Feng was holding, as if he had an idea.

"Oh, his name is Li Feng."

Mu Tiantao, unsure of how to introduce him, was saved when Mu Yuyan’s mother came from the kitchen, "He’s also one of Yuyan’s suitors, but nothing is set in stone yet. Since you’re here, please, have a seat."

"You actually remembered to bring something today, what did you bring?"

Mu Yuyan’s mother looked at Li Feng.

"Oh, I brought a few cans of tea leaves," Li Feng said.

Hearing this, Mu Yuyan’s mother stepped forward to take the tea leaves Li Feng had brought and glanced at the tote bag, "These aren’t the cheap kind you get at the market for a few dozen yuan a pound, are they? My old man doesn’t care much for anything else, but he’s very particular about his tea."

"Liu Yan, it seems like you also brought tea leaves for your teacher today!"

"Yes, I managed to get some tea leaves through a contact. They might not be from those centuries-old tea trees, but they are from an old plantation. It’s said that the tea trees there are at least a hundred years old, which means they’re all top quality."

"Tea leaves from these plantations aren’t sold to the public, as they’re all pre-ordered. It took a Herculean effort to get just half a pound from a friend, and he only gets ten pounds a year."

"Heh, Liu Yan, you really have the connections. That half pound of tea must have cost a pretty penny. Your teacher is lucky to be able to enjoy such fine tea, all thanks to you; otherwise, he wouldn’t even have the chance."

Mu Yuyan’s mother praised the other party.

"Alright, I’ve got two more dishes to finish, and then we’ll be ready to eat. You guys get ready for dinner too."

With that, Mu Yuyan’s mother turned and walked into the kitchen. Mu Yuyan looked embarrassed. What was her mother implying?

Mu Yuyan took the tote bag from Li Feng, "You could have at least given a heads up before coming. Forget it, whatever my mom says later, just let it go in one ear and out the other, and don’t take it to heart. She might not let you off easy today."

"Okay."

Li Feng responded indifferently. By now, he had figured it out. This was a set-up; the message from yesterday might not have even been sent by Mu Yuyan. Today’s events might be the Mu Family’s version of a banquet trap, aimed at discouraging Li Feng from pursuing further.

"Dinner’s ready."

Mu Yuyan’s mother called out, and Mu Tiantao stood up, "Sure, Liu Yan, we can play chess later, let’s eat first."

"Okay, Teacher."

"Liu Yan, sit next to Yuyan, and you, sit beside me," Mu Yuyan’s mother directed Liu Yan to sit next to Mu Yuyan and Li Feng to sit next to herself.

Everyone took their seats at the table.

Mu Yuyan’s mother stood up and immediately served Liu Yan across from her a bowl of soup, which Liu Yan hurriedly stood to receive, "Mother-in-law, you are too kind."

"Try the soup. Your teacher mentioned you’ve been busy with work lately. Even though you’re still young and have achieved success, you mustn’t push yourself too hard and neglect your health."

"Oh, right, Liu Yan, how’s the situation with your company? I heard from your teacher that you’ve recently gone through a second round of fundraising and raised several hundred million. Is that true?"

Mu Yuyan’s mother initiated the conversation.

Liu Yan nodded, not minding showing off a bit of his strength in front of the girl he liked. After all, he wasn’t foolish and could see that Li Feng was likely his rival.

"Yes, the second round of fundraising is settled, we raised 3.2 billion yuan. With this funding, our company will rapidly progress, and I believe by the end of this year, our company’s valuation could reach 20 to 30 billion yuan."

"If things go well, a year from now our company could be worth a hundred billion yuan, and I’m confident we can make it. When that time comes, our company will go public, and after the IPO, I’ll cash in some shares, which should net me at least a billion or two."

"Wow, Liu Yan, you really are accomplished for your age. How old are you, in your twenties?"

"Twenty-nine, not quite thirty."

"Not yet thirty, and you already have assets worth hundreds of millions, not to mention founding a hundred billion yuan company. No wonder your teacher always praises you, saying out of all his students, you’re the best."

"If you and our Yuyan were a couple, that would be perfect. You two would be a match of talent and beauty."

"Mother-in-law, you flatter me."

Liu Yan listened to the mother-in-law’s words with a bit of pride in his heart. It seemed that the mother-in-law favored him. He glanced at Li Feng sitting next to the mother-in-law.

"Brother, what do you do?"
