"Mum!"

Mu Yuyan glanced at her mother, who was firing off questions like a machine gun, and couldn’t help but steal a look at Li Feng.

After all, there really wasn’t much to her relationship with him, and it was clear her mother intended to intimidate Li Feng. But her own mother’s attempt at intimidation might not necessarily work.

"Don’t speak."

"You don’t need to continue. Based on these three points alone, I can tell you outright that it’s impossible between you and my daughter. I will not let my daughter end up as someone’s stepmother."

"You might as well give up that idea."

"Mum!"

Mu Yuyan hadn’t expected her mother to be so arbitrary and jump to conclusions. Although she too hadn’t made up her mind, she really couldn’t accept being dismissed so bluntly by her own mother.

Mu Yuyan watched her mother’s commanding exit: "Mum, how can you be like this?"

Mu Yuyan’s mother looked at Li Feng, who then stood up in response to the eviction: "In that case, auntie, I’ll take my leave."

Li Feng then stood up and walked out of the Mu family’s home, maybe for the better. As for being scorned by Mu Yuyan’s mother, he didn’t take it to heart at all.

Li Feng listened to the commotion behind him in the hallway. They were deliberately saying this for him to hear, weren’t they?

Li Feng fished out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, lit one, and walked out of the building with casual ease.

Mu Yuyan, sullenly sitting on the sofa, heard her mother merely huff in response, "I already spared him some dignity."

"Old man, why don’t you speak up instead of playing the good guy? Do you really want to watch your daughter leap into a pit of fire?"

Mu Tiantao coughed before looking at Mu Yuyan, "Yuyan, I’m not asking for you to marry into a wealthy family. I just want you to be happy. Li Feng is truly not a suitable match."

"Mu Yuyan, don’t wait until you’ve suffered to come to your senses. By then, it will be too late. While things between you two haven’t gone too far, just end it. It’s better to have a short pain than a long one."

"Mom, you don’t know anything and just jump to conclusions. And to think you’re a law professor. You’re being completely subjective right now, totally ignoring the objective facts."

"But Li Feng said himself that he’s single, but has been married before and has a daughter. Is that me being subjective? I’m just stating the facts."

Mu Yuyan bit her lip and stood up.

"Where are you going?"

"I’m going to my room to take a shower." Mu Yuyan walked into her bedroom, leaving the Mu Family’s elderly couple facing each other in the guest room.

"Old Mu, your daughter might have really fallen for him. That stubborn girl has a real headstrong streak. We must find a way to completely eliminate Li Feng, to make him give up for good!" Mu Yuyan’s mother said, looking at Mu Tiantao.

Mu Tiantao made a noise of acknowledgment, "What do you have in mind?"

"That student of yours, he seems to be interested in our daughter. I noticed a different look in his eyes when he last visited, and he’s your student, so you must know his character. Besides, he’s quite handsome and seems well-matched with our daughter."

Mu Tiantao acknowledged again, "You mean Little Liu."

Mu Yuyan’s mother took the number and dialed it right away.

"Hello, is this the teacher?"

After hanging up the phone, Mu Yuyan’s mother stood up and walked directly to Mu Yuyan’s room. Mu Yuyan was showering in the bathroom. Her mother picked up Mu Yuyan’s phone, unlocked it, and found Li Feng’s contact details on it.

She sent a message to Li Feng and then deleted it.

Li Feng finished his cigarette and was about to drive away when his phone lit up with a message.
