Chapter 598: Ghostly

Chapter 598: Chapter 598: Ghostly

"Stop!"

Huang An, who was hurrying through the corridor, suddenly stopped. Clenching his fist, he raised his hand and the guards behind him halted, their bodies tensed.

This was a T-junction. Moving forward would lead to two passages to the left and right. Huang An had already memorized the layout of the Underground Red Building and planned the route. However, corners like this ninety-degree turn were ideal spots for ambushes.

Huang An raised his hand and made several tactical gestures to his subordinates. The four guards directly behind him sprang into action, two on each side. After exchanging glances, they simultaneously moved—two rolling forward, another dashing out lightning-fast with his gun aimed straight down the corridor.

The two groups backed each other up to ensure no one could attack from behind.

"Clear."

"Clear."

"Leave two people behind, the rest move forward," ordered Huang An, leading the others past the junction and to the right.

Crackle.

Suddenly, the lights overhead in the corridor dimmed. Huang An couldn’t help but slow down. At that moment, figures emerged from the shadows in the corridor ahead.

"Halt, hands up or I shoot!"

Huang An raised his pistol, aiming at the figures in front.

"Heh, shoot without mercy?"

Li Feng chuckled coldly.

"Then what are you hesitating for?"

"Rookie!"

Li Feng scoffed, "I thought the great ten families had some real power, but they sent you scrubs?"

"It seems you really underestimate me, Li Feng."

Huang An, looking at the still mocking Li Feng, scoffed coldly, "Why use a bulldozer to crack a nut—surrender now, or else..."

Huang An cursed under his breath—whether due to provocation, he wasn’t sure—but he lifted his hand and shot directly at Li Feng, who was approaching.

Bang.

At this range, Huang An’s shot hit Li Feng squarely between the eyes.

Li Feng was propelled backward by the force of the bullet.

Instinctively lowering his gun, two guards moved forward to check the body.

At that moment, the lights in the corridor went out with a snap.

"Everyone stay calm, turn on your flashlights."

"There’s no one!"

One of the investigating guards, as if seeing a ghost, reported back. The body was supposed to be right there, but there was no one nearby—not even traces of blood.

"How can there be no one? I clearly shot him right between the eyes."

Huang An strode forward—given the mere seven or eight meters between them and his marksmanship, he couldn’t have missed, especially as the figure had clearly been thrown backward just moments before.

"Looking for me?"

Huang An looked up. His tactical flashlight sweeping forward revealed the man he had shot standing before him once again.

"Fire!"

Huang An didn’t hesitate this time, pulling the trigger consecutively while the guards behind him, somewhat panicky, also opened fire. Bullets whizzed past, enveloping Li Feng in a hail of gunfire.

"Cease fire!"

Huang An yelled.

"That was a projection, not a real person."

"Oh, figured it out, huh? You’re not as dumb as I thought."

At that, another Li Feng stepped forward, advancing toward Huang An and his men.

"Playing tricky games, is that fun?"

Huang An, watching the new arrival, swept his gaze coldly over him. The opponent was too cunning, using projections to deceive; however, it was undeniable that for a moment, he had felt genuinely rattled, as if he had encountered a ghost.

"Quite boring, actually. How about we try something real?"

Li Feng shrugged nonchalantly and said. As he spoke, he suddenly dashed forward.

Huang An’s mind reeled—dammit, misled again, this time for real.

Huang An raised his gun towards Li Feng and as he did, Li Feng, with lightning-fast reflexes, grasped Huang An’s wrist, disarmed him, and aimed the gun at his forehead.

"Told you, calling you weak isn’t unfair."

After speaking, Li Feng took a step forward, using the Mountain Lean, and rammed his shoulder against Huang An, using him like a projectile to crash into the guards behind.

Instantly, the lights from the tactical flashlights scattered chaotically.

Li Feng, like a spectral apparition, plunged into the squad of guards. In the cramped space, surrounded by allies, firearms were virtually useless unless someone was ruthless enough to shoot indiscriminately.

Li Feng engaged War God mode, his mind racing, his body transforming into a human weapon, dispatching every enemy before him swiftly and decisively.

"Pull back, keep your distance."

"Keep your distance."

Huang An shouted as the corridor descended into chaos. It was impossible to tell friend from foe, and the fight turned into a melee. Despite the enemy being one person, he fought like a deity of war, sending shivers down Huang An’s spine.

Too strong.

A single man daring to confront so many of his elite guards—these were all veterans from the Guard or masters from the world, recruited precisely for their prowess.

Yet, this typically unstoppable team, faced with one man, found themselves completely overpowered.

This man was truly a monster.

"Someone’s behind us too."

Just as Huang An, hoping to regroup by creating distance, heard the shout from behind, a chill settled in his heart.

The fight had been lost from the start, especially when several Dragon Guards ambushed from behind, crushing Huang An’s last resistance, and his guards were utterly defeated.

"Turn on the lights!"

At Li Feng’s command, the recently extinguished lights flared on, illuminating several Dragon Guards surveying the guards sprawled across the corridor and looking toward Li Feng at the center.

"Young Master, all captured."
