Chapter 518 Devil Training Camp
Chapter 518: Chapter 518 Devil Training Camp
In the northern suburbs of Jin City, there was a training base where Li Yuncong brought Li Feng.
"This will be your home for the next three months." Li Yuncong led Li Feng to a barrack.
"Commander."
"Blow the whistle."
"Yes." One of the instructors for the new recruits immediately took the whistle from his neck and blew it. After the piercing whistle, one could hear the previously silent barracks come alive instantly. Li Yuncong glanced at his watch and, after counting fifteen seconds, strode into the barracks.
Li Feng followed Li Yuncong into the barrack, which was quite large. Inside, neatly arranged were several double-decker beds. At the moment, a group of new recruits stood at the foot of their beds, lined up in two neat rows, standing with their hands behind their backs and eyes looking straight ahead.
Li Yuncong toured the barrack like a lion, circling in front of each recruit before returning to the entrance.
"Attention."
With a rustling sound, all the new recruits stood at attention, chests out and heads up. Li Yuncong looked around and began, "I’d like to introduce a new teammate, Li Feng."
Li Feng stepped forward lackadaisically, "Hello everyone, my name is Li Feng. I’m new here, so I’m looking forward to your guidance in the future."
Li Yuncong pointed to an empty bed at the far end, "That bed over there is yours. Go get your stuff and move it there."
Li Feng picked up a set of bedding and washbasin, among other toiletries, and walked through the ranks towards the double bunk at the far end of the room.
Along the way, he encountered dismissive looks of scorn and even some that seemed to revel in his misfortune.
"Wen Le."
"Present."
"You are responsible for explaining the rules for new recruits to him, and also the daily training schedule."
"Yes!"
"Everyone else, at ease."
Li Yuncong abruptly turned and left the barrack, and the duty instructor then blew the whistle, "Sleep."
The training instructor turned and left the barrack. After the lights went out, the previously erect recruits relaxed and twisted their bodies to get into bed.
"Hey buddy, did you also get squeezed in here through the back door?"
"Sort of," replied Li Feng as he laid out his bedding on the upper bunk, looking at the slightly obese man who had started the conversation.
"First time here?"
"Yes."
Li Feng nodded, and the chubby Wen Le sighed, "Looks like we’re in the same boat, brother."
"Wen Le, can you shut up already, let people sleep," another voice interjected.
"It was the instructor who asked me to brief the newcomer, Liu Quan, got a problem with that?" Wen Le shot back.
"Oh, look at you talking back!" A person jumped down from the bed, "With that body of yours, even mixing in here, I tell you, the past three days were just acclamation training, that’s nothing at all."
"Tomorrow starts the real training, and don’t blame me for not warning you, this isn’t an ordinary recruit training camp."
"This is the Special Forces new recruit training camp, do you understand what that means?"
Li Feng, aided by the moonlight streaming through the barrack windows, looked towards the approaching man, who was muscular and had an unruly expression.
"With that physique, if you can last three days, I’ll call you grandpa."
Liu Quan looked disdainfully at Wen Le, "I just can’t understand, what outrageously awful thing did you do that your family dumped you here? This isn’t just about toughening you up, they probably want to dispose of the trash. Seems like every year, there are a few fatalities in our training camp."
"Mind your own business."
"Heh, that’s the instructor’s concern, not mine, but I heard that our chief instructor is no ordinary person. He’s nicknamed King Yan, and every year, some new recruits end up disabled because of him."
Wen Le’s expression changed repeatedly, clearly having heard something of the sort before.
"Newcomer, aren’t you going to introduce yourself properly?"
Liu Quan turned his head toward the new arrival, Li Feng, who looked back at him. "My name is Li Feng. Is there anything else? If not, I’m going to bed."
Liu Quan, observing the perfunctory tone in Li Feng’s voice, raised his eyebrow. "Did I ask for your name? I was asking about your father. With connections powerful enough to sneak you in here, your family background must be extraordinary. Yet, I’ve never heard of you."
Li Feng replied sarcastically to Liu Quan, "When I’m out here, I give my own name. But I wouldn’t mind knowing who your father is, since that seems to be all you can boast about."
The chubby Wen Le couldn’t help exclaiming from the sidelines as he looked at Li Feng, and the others in the neighboring bunks also turned to look.
That statement from the young man was quite pointed.
Stung by Li Feng’s retort, Liu Quan’s face darkened, and he stepped closer to Li Feng, saying coldly, "Kid, to dare talk to me like that, you must think you’re someone special."
"But you’d better have the confidence and strength to back up those words, or you won’t last these three months."
"Aren’t you going to sleep? Do you want to be punished?"
At that moment, the instructor’s voice came from outside the barracks.
Liu Quan hummed coldly, glanced at Li Feng, then turned away. Wen Le tugged at Li Feng and whispered in his ear, "Dude, it’s better to avoid provoking that guy if you can. Otherwise, we’re really going to have a hard time."
Li Feng appeared unconcerned.
Seeing Li Feng’s indifference, Wen Le didn’t say anything more. "Hurry up and get to bed. We have to get up at five."
It wasn’t even five o’clock.
It was still pitch-dark outside when the wake-up call sounded, and everyone in the barracks instantly opened their eyes and reflexively leaped out of bed, quickly putting on their clothes and shoes before rushing outside.
From the lower bunk, Wen Le heard the call and, although reluctant, struggled to get up and began putting on his clothes, glancing over at Li Feng on the upper bunk.
Damn.
Still not moving.
"Dude, hurry up and get up. If you’re late for formation, you’ll be punished."
"Heh."
Liu Quan, who had finished dressing, saw Li Feng, who hadn’t even opened his eyes yet, and scoffed. This trash was even being pushed into the elite training camp of the special forces brigade.
This place was not a trash recycling station.
Soon, the barracks were nearly empty, with everyone orderly rushing out because the special forces brigade’s recruits were not like ordinary recruits.
Recruits for the special forces were top soldiers from various units within the military district, only those with at least two years of military service qualified for selection.
Thus, this kind of morning assembly was commonplace.
"Buddy, I’m not waiting for you anymore, you’re truly incredible." Wen Le, having put on his shoes, looked at Li Feng who was still lying in bed, utterly reluctant to get up. It seemed this guy was planning on resisting the training passively.
But if passive resistance were effective, it wouldn’t be called Devil Training Camp.
Last night, there were some things Liu Quan didn’t get wrong. Every year, this training camp had a mortality quota.
Wen Le was already lagging behind. When he finally joined the formation, the instructor gave him a cold glance.
"Eighteen seconds, three seconds longer than the standard time. Do three hundred push-ups on the spot."
With a bitter expression, Wen Le loudly responded, "Yes!"
"Reporting to the instructor."
"Speak!"
"There’s still one person who hasn’t gotten up." Liu Quan stepped forward to report.
