Chapter 42: Chapter 42 Kneel Down and Sing Conquest

"Are you sure my brother-in-law is staying here?"

Zhang Xin asked Zhou Zhishan from behind. Outer Heaven, Huacheng’s most luxurious five-star hotel, is said that the Presidential Suite costs eighty-eight thousand per night. Others might not know, but she knew very well that her brother-in-law had left his marriage with nothing, without a dime of compensation from her cousin.

Last time at school, when he showed up in a luxury car, Zhang Xin could still convince herself that he was just renting it to show off, but the Presidential Suite of Outer Heaven, even if you can afford the rent, you still need the right status to stay.

Zhou Zhishan turned her head to look at Zhang Xin, who had shamelessly followed her: "You call him your brother-in-law, but do you even understand anything about him? Right, if you did, you wouldn’t have said those things to us."

"You!"

Zhang Xin looked at Zhou Zhishan’s mocking expression, feeling annoyed, but she suppressed it. The two women walked through the corridor to the door. Zhou Zhishan took a deep breath, pushed open the slightly ajar door, strode through the entrance, and entered the living room. She saw Li Feng, who seemed to have just come out of the bathroom, draped in a bath towel.

"Brother-in-law!"

Zhang Xin immediately dashed past Zhou Zhishan toward Li Feng. Li Feng glanced at Zhang Xin, then swept his gaze toward Zhou Zhishan. Zhou Zhishan approached and explained, "She insisted on coming with me, I couldn’t help it."

Zhang Xin bit her lip as she looked at Li Feng.

"Brother-in-law, could you ask her to leave for a moment?"

"You go inside and take a bath first," Li Feng said to Zhou Zhishan. Zhou Zhishan nodded, turned, and walked into the bedroom. Zhang Xin watched as Zhou Zhishan entered the bedroom, feeling a bit annoyed inside.

"Brother-in-law."

Li Feng turned and sat down on the sofa, raising his hand to stop Zhang Xin from coming closer, "Didn’t I tell you to stay put at home?"

Zhang Xin walked over and sat next to Li Feng, "Brother-in-law, how do you expect me to stay put? My heart has been pounding every single day; at every knock on the door, I think it’s the police coming to take me away. Brother-in-law, I’m really scared!"

Zhang Xin reached out and embraced Li Feng’s arm.

Li Feng pushed Zhang Xin away, "What are you doing? I’ve already told you, as long as you don’t go around spouting nonsense, this matter won’t involve you."

Zhang Xin held on tightly to Li Feng’s arm, biting her lip, and looked at him. "The USB drive is still with you."

"I’ve already destroyed it."

Zhang Xin looked at Li Feng, not believing him, "Brother-in-law, let’s be honest with each other. Keeping that USB drive—what are you trying to do? I know what you’re thinking. You just want to humiliate me, right? I admit that I haven’t been nice to you before, I’ve mocked and looked down on you."

"Isn’t it enough for me to apologize? If you still hold a grudge against me, just take it out on me. However, you want to humiliate me / I don’t mind, as long as you give me back the USB drive."

Li Feng turned his head to look at Zhang Xin, "Let go of my hand first."

"What, can’t do it? Didn’t you say I could do whatever I wanted?"

Zhang Xin bit her lip and looked at Li Feng, letting go of his arm. Li Feng got up and moved to sit further away, making some distance between them. Zhang Xin watched his movements, "Do you really hate me that much?"

"I admit I never treated you well before, and I apologize. What more do you want, for me to kneel and sing ’Conquer’ to you?"

"Fine, you sing."

Li Feng didn’t reject Zhang Xin’s offer, leaving her stunned for a moment. Her eyes fluttering in surprise, Li Feng looked at Zhang Xin, "Weren’t you going to kneel and sing ’Conquer’? Go ahead, sing."

Li Feng’s mouth curved into an amused look as he watched Zhang Xin, who was staring back at him. Was this really the brother-in-law she knew?

"What’s the matter, can’t do it? The didn’t you need to beg me so humbly here?"

Zhang Xin bit her lip and clenched her fist. After all, the image of Li Feng in her heart was deeply rooted: the stereotype of a groveling brother-in-law, too honest to have a temper, the kind-hearted guy everyone could step on.

The good man who did not smoke, gamble, or drink, only knew how to stay at home and take care of the children—a good man who was synonymous with being useless.

Besides, he was the live-in son-in-law who married into her cousin’s family.

The recent events had altered her perception a bit, but deep down she still couldn’t adapt. She had been thoughtlessly outspoken earlier, but who would have expected Li Feng to actually make her kneel and sing "Conquest"? The old Li Feng would never have done such a thing.

Zhang Xin looked up at Li Feng, who was smirking, and bit her lip as she stood up: "Fine, I’ll just kneel and sing ’Conquest’."

Zhang Xin walked directly in front of Li Feng and knelt down: "Being conquered by you like this..."

"Look up at me," he instructed.

Zhang Xin lifted her gaze, her teeth gritting audibly, as Li Feng leaned down, looked at her resentful eyes, and said, "You’ve got such a sharp look in your eyes. You must be cursing me in your mind, thinking to yourself, ’What is Li Feng? Is he even worthy?’"

Zhang Xin looked at Li Feng: "I didn’t think that."

Li Feng scoffed: "Then sing properly. You’re not just singing ’Conquest’; you’re showing reluctant compliance because you want that USB drive."

Zhang Xin took a deep breath: "Being conquered by you like this..."

"Sing it again."

Li Feng cut her off directly, and Zhang Xin’s eyes nearly shot out flames, as he nonchalantly leaned back on the sofa and closed his eyes, making Zhang Xin wish she could bite him to death.

"Being conquered by you like this, I’ve cut off my avenues of retreat..."

Zhou Zhishan gave herself a quick rinse and redressed, walking into the living room just in time to see Zhang Xin kneeling before Li Feng, singing "Conquest." Realizing Zhou Zhishan’s presence, Zhang Xin felt an inevitable shame, utterly embarrassing.

"Keep singing. Did I say you could stop?"

Li Feng said, raising his hand to signal Zhou Zhishan to come over, and she walked right up, snuggling next to him.

Seeing her roommate Zhou Zhishan lying in her former brother-in-law’s arms, Zhang Xin couldn’t tolerate it anymore: "Li Feng, have you had enough yet?"

"I’m already humbling myself so much, don’t push it too far."

Li Feng looked up at Zhang Xin, who had abruptly stood up: "Does the fact that you’re degrading yourself have anything to do with me? You chose to demean yourself; what does that have to do with me?"

"You!"

Li Feng coldly watched Zhang Xin: "You can leave now."

Li Feng stood up and wrapped his arm around Zhou Zhishan’s slender waist, about to head to the bedroom, and Zhang Xin watched as Li Feng turned to leave, grinding her teeth bitterly.

"Li Feng, aren’t you afraid I’ll expose you?"

Li Feng waved his hand nonchalantly: "Up to you; just don’t regret it later."

Zhang Xin observed Li Feng’s completely uncaring tone, and her rage turned into nothingness.

"Brother-in-law, I was wrong, I really recognize my mistakes now."

Zhang Xin’s arrogance had vanished completely; she rushed forward and clung to Li Feng’s legs: "Brother-in-law, for the sake of decorum if not for your kin, I am still your little aunt by marriage. If you want revenge on my cousin, I can be your girlfriend."

"You can do whatever you want with me, please, brother-in-law."
