Chapter 40 Assassin
Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Assassin
"After I’ve looked at it."
"You’re shameless."
Zhang Xin bit her lip and glared at Li Feng, directly reaching for his pocket: "Give it to me."
Li Feng dodged, and Zhang Xin relentlessly pounced on him; she had to get the USB drive back. She didn’t want anyone, especially this contemptible "brother-in-law," to see what was inside.
"Give it to me!"
Zhang Xin almost threw herself onto Li Feng. Li Feng frowned and pushed her away, then pinned her against the elevator wall with a classic "wall slam," causing Zhang Xin to let out a muffled groan as she looked up at Li Feng, who had gotten physical.
"You dare to lay hands on me."
Zhang Xin glared at Li Feng through gritted teeth, forgetting about the time Li Feng slapped her at school, and reached out to scratch him. Li Feng was prepared and grabbed her wrist, pinning it above her head.
"Li Feng, you bootlicker, you actually dare to manhandle me. Aren’t you afraid I’ll go whining to my cousin?"
Zhang Xin twisted her body, unable to break free from Li Feng’s brute strength.
Li Feng grabbed Zhang Xin’s chin and closed in: "Complain to your cousin? I’m not your ’brother-in-law’ anymore. Do I still need to be concerned about how you or even your cousin feel about me?"
"Was I too lenient before, allowing you to harbor such delusions?"
Zhang Xin looked into Li Feng’s eyes, so close to her, and spat on him: "Even if you divorced my cousin, you’re still a bootlicker. Let me go. What, are you catching feelings for me?"
"You wouldn’t dare touch me, would you?"
Zhang Xin stared coldly at Li Feng.
"How about I book a room, so you can pretend to be a man for once? Isn’t that what you want, to claw back some of your dignity through me? Fine, I’ll indulge you. Just give me the USB drive, and I’ll let you sleep with me once."
Li Feng looked at Zhang Xin, who dared to utter such shameless words.
"That bald guy wasn’t wrong; you truly are despicable at heart."
Zhang Xin’s face changed slightly. Being called cheap by others didn’t faze her, but it somehow felt humiliating coming from Li Feng.
"Li Feng, even if I’m cheap, I’m not as cheap as you, you useless prick, you lowlife, bootlicker."
Zhang Xin didn’t back down an inch and viciously cursed at Li Feng. Li Feng looked at her coldly, his hand slipping and gripping Zhang Xin’s throat. She couldn’t make a sound, desperately twisting to break free.
Ding-dong.
Li Feng suddenly let go, and Zhang Xin collapsed onto the floor. He gave her a cold glance and stepped out of the elevator.
He really didn’t know where his ex-aunt by marriage got her sense of superiority from, or perhaps he had been too feeble before, that she hadn’t registered him as a man at all in her mind.
Li Feng took a deep breath; maybe it was a bit of both. He felt he really needed to reflect: was it right or wrong to give up everything for love and tolerate without limits?
"Li Feng, stop right there!"
Zhang Xin caught her breath and climbed out of the elevator, chasing after him out of the apartment building, and at that moment:
Bang!
A figure fell from the sky, heavily crashing onto a car parked beneath the apartment building, shattering the windows and denting the roof.
Zhang Xin turned her head to look and, terrified, sat down hard on the pavement, swallowing a gulp of saliva. The bald head could belong to none other than Zhang Maode.
Li Feng frowned too. Zhang Maode was dead, in a matter of moments. Sihai Group acted quickly; the killing and cover-up had already begun.
If he had been a step later, the truth behind this murder might have been buried forever. Given Sihai Group’s clout, whitewashing the event wouldn’t be difficult, even if it caused a bit of ruckus. As long as they suppressed public opinion for a while, this incident would naturally fade away.
"Is it taken care of?"
"The man has been taken care of, but someone had visited here before I arrived,"
"What do you mean?"
"Someone had interrogated Zhang Maode. There’s a disassembled handgun on the floor, and the gate of the safe is opened."
The Assassin lifted a woman’s underwear with his finger, scanning every detail of the room, "There should have been another woman here."
"Find the person and make sure there’s no mistake."
The Assassin listened to the beeping sound from the phone and hung up, sniffing the underwear, "And she’s a beauty."
Li Feng stepped off the elevator, almost returning before stepping out, then halted, with Zhang Xin bumping into his back.
"What are you doing?"
Zhang Xin, holding her nose, glared at Li Feng irritably.
"You’re not wearing underwear?"
Zhang Xin’s face turned red, looking at Li Feng who had suddenly made such a remark, "That’s my business, what’s it to you?"
"Then that must be yours in his hand,"
"What do you mean?"
Zhang Xin looked up and across, where a young man with dyed blond hair twirled a pair of underwear on his finger while chewing gum, looking pretty handsome. The underwear he was playing with seemed to be hers.
"Did you kill that bald guy?"
Li Feng looked across.
The young man across sized Li Feng up, then glanced at Zhang Xin behind him, "A man and a woman, so you two were the ones in the apartment just now. My search is over without much effort, saving me a lot of time."
Li Feng was sure of the other’s identity, he must be an Assassin sent by Sihai Group. The young man pulled out a switchblade from his pocket and started flipping it in his hand, the blade flashing coldly.
"I can’t be bothered to ask more, just go die,"
The Assassin smiled coldly, quickening his pace and charging at Li Feng, brandishing the switchblade towards Li Feng’s ribs.
Zhang Xin, seeing the Assassin charging with a knife, became panicked and grabbed Li Feng’s arm, "He’s coming at us with a knife, what do we do?"
Li Feng glanced at Zhang Xin, clutching his arm like a useless teammate. As the Assassin approached, she was still hanging on to him. Li Feng swiftly twisted away, and with a cry of surprise, Zhang Xin fell to the ground.
The Assassin smirked coldly, flipping the switchblade into a backhand grip.
Slap!
A crisp slap rang out, and the Assassin’s face went numb, nearly tumbling to the ground, confused about what had just happened.
Li Feng lifted his foot and kicked the stumbling Assassin in the crotch, sending him crashing against the wall in a daze.
"Are you a pig, let go!"
"You’re the pig, your whole family is..." Zhang Xin bit her lip, looking at Li Feng, who paid her no mind and stepped toward the Assassin, landing a firm kick.
Crack.
Li Feng crushed the Assassin’s wrist bone, and as the Assassin gritted his teeth and looked up, Li Feng showed no mercy and kicked hard.
The Assassin’s nasal bridge collapsed, blood spurting out like an arrow, his body flung into the air, tumbling several times before stopping.
Zhang Xin gulped, swallowing back the word "pig" she had on the tip of her tongue. Was this man the same good-tempered pushover brother-in-law her cousin had ordered around, who couldn’t come back with a witty retort?
"Brother-in-law, is he really an Assassin? He just killed someone, should we call the police now?"
