Chapter 39: Chapter 39: The Sister-in-law’s Dirty Secrets

Li Feng looked at the girl who had grabbed his arm. He knew her well, it was Zhang Xue’s cousin, Zhang Xin. Before his divorce from Zhang Xue, Zhang Xin often visited their house, but she never treated him like a brother-in-law, always bossing him around as if he was a servant rather than family.

Li Feng was astonished to see Zhang Xin just now. To his knowledge, though her family wasn’t as wealthy as Zhang Xue’s, both of her parents were civil servants, and her mother also ran a small business. Zhang Xin was pampered from a young age and wasn’t short of money.

Every time he saw her, she was always dressed to the nines, carrying a handbag worth tens of thousands, clad in various designer labels. She carried herself with a haughty and arrogant air, never polite to Li Feng, her brother-in-law by marriage. She ridiculed and mocked him both behind his back and to his face without any courtesy.

Felt embarrassed under Li Feng’s gaze, Zhang Xin also experienced some difficulty keeping her composure. No one would want their secrets exposed to a loser like Li Feng.

"What are you staring at me for? If you dare spread today’s incident, don’t blame me for not being nice."

In her heart, Zhang Xin still looked down on Li Feng. Even though he was now divorced from her cousin, Zhang Xue, and no longer her "brother-in-law."

Listening to Zhang Xin’s threats, Li Feng sneered disdainfully and pushed her away with a swing of his hand. Zhang Xin hadn’t expected Li Feng to actually lay hands on her, and she stumbled backward.

"You?"

Li Feng watched the angry Zhang Xin. Although her cousin, Zhang Xin, didn’t quite match Zhang Xue in looks, she was still a student at Huacheng Dance Academy and not bad-looking herself.

"Bro, if you like this chick, I can give her to you, guaranteeing to make her..."

Zhang Demao saw Li Feng seemed interested in Zhang Xin, and with a swift glance, he bluntly offered her up.

"She’ll listen to you!"

Li Feng curled his lip and turned to look at Zhang Demao, who, thinking there might be a deal, quickly said, "Of course she has to listen to me. She’s maxed out her credit cards and owes me a lot of money. She has to do whatever I tell her."

"Shut up."

Zhang Xin’s face turned beet red in embarrassment and anger as she glared at Zhang Demao. She didn’t want to lose face in front of Li Feng, a man who typically groveled at her feet like a lapdog.

Zhang Demao coldly smirked as he turned to Zhang Xin’s retort, "You still dare to yell at me? Want me to release those inappropriate videos of you and let everyone see how cheap you really are?"

Zhang Xin trembled with rage upon hearing Zhang Demao’s words.

"You, you have no shame."

Zhang Demao turned to Li Feng, "Bro, as long as you let me off today, we can talk about anything."

Li Feng glanced at Zhang Demao.

"It seems you like to keep a collection."

"Heh, just a little hobby of mine." Zhang Demao gave Li Feng a knowing look, "If bro here likes it, I can give it to you. With this stuff in hand, heh."

Li Feng stroked his chin, "Where’s the stuff?"

"In the safe in my room. Bro, put the knife away first, and I’ll take you to get it."

Li Feng flicked his wrist and sheathed the fruit knife, "Don’t try any tricks."

"Wouldn’t dare, wouldn’t dare."

Zhang Demao led Li Feng into his bedroom, to the safe, "Bro, I don’t care whose man you are, just let me go today, and that chick from earlier is yours. I’ve got plenty of cash and gold bars in this safe too, all yours."

Zhang Demao opened the safe, handed a USB drive to Li Feng, and also took out a wad of cash, "All this for you, as long as you let me off the hook."

"What do you say?"

Li Feng took the USB drive, looking at Zhang Demao, "I want to know the truth about the murder and the hiding of the corpse. Tell me that, and I can let you off the hook."

Zhang Demao’s brow furrowed.

"Bro, it’s just a lonely old man. Why bother standing up for him? What’s it to you?"

"I don’t want to repeat myself. I want the truth, and who did it. Where are those involved right now?"

"Tell me that, and I can let you off."

"So, you’re saying there’s no room for discussion." Zhang Demao’s brows were knotted as his tone suddenly hardened.

The next second, Zhang Demao pulled something out of the safe—it was a handgun pointed straight at Li Feng.

In the nick of time, Li Feng didn’t freeze at the sight of the gun barrel, moving like lightning to grab and push forward against the gun, stripping it away and ejecting a bullet from the chamber.

Li Feng quickly choked Zhang Maode, pressing him against the wall.

"You just don’t quit until you hit a dead end."

With his throat seized, Zhang Maode’s face turned the color of an eggplant, and he was nearly suffocated before Li Feng finally let go. Zhang Maode slid to the floor, gasping for air like a drowning man.

Li Feng bent down, grabbed Zhang Maode by the collar, and dragged him to the bedroom balcony’s window, pushing it open.

"I don’t have the patience to keep this up. Either tell me the truth, or you can take a drop from here. We’re on the twenty-first floor; the fall should be quick."

Li Feng pushed him toward the window.

"I’ll talk, I’ll talk."

Zhang Maode caved, fearing death, and Li Feng pulled him back in, turning on his phone to record, "Tell me everything you know."

Still in shock, Zhang Maode detailed the murder and body-hiding.

"Are you sure it was Qi Shaobin who orchestrated this behind the scenes?"

"Yes, I have proof. There’s an audio record in the cloud storage on my phone."

Li Feng found Zhang Maode’s phone, made him unlock it, and obtained the audio recordings from it. With this evidence, Li Feng turned and walked away.

"You got them."

Zhang Xin bit her lip as she watched Li Feng walk away. He ignored her and continued out, prompting Zhang Xin to stamp her foot and follow.

"What do you want in exchange for returning these things to me?" Zhang Xin stepped into the elevator and looked up at Li Feng, the former "brother-in-law" she had never taken seriously.
