Chapter 373: Chapter 373: Russian Roulette
"You’re determined to kill me?"
Li Feng savored these four words before suddenly pulling out a handgun and aiming it at Bai Haoyu’s forehead.
"I don’t know how you can kill me if you’re dead."
Bai Haoyu instinctively stepped back at the sight of the gun but then clenched his teeth and grabbed it, pressing it against his own forehead.
"If you’ve got the guts, kill me."
"You think I don’t dare?"
Li Feng narrowed his eyes, observing Bai Haoyu, who stood with a stiff neck, looking like a gambler prepared to risk everything at the table.
"Are you betting I can’t bear to lose your ten billion Federation Coins, or are you betting I wouldn’t dare to offend your powerful backing family?"
"Hmph, let go of my sister-in-law."
Bai Haoyu grew calm although Li Feng’s words hit home, and even though sweat had already soaked through his back.
"Should I praise you for being brave, or should I call you a dumbass?"
Li Feng suddenly pulled the trigger. With a click, Bai Haoyu’s breathing seemed to freeze; Li Feng dared to shoot.
"I thought you really weren’t afraid to die."
Li Feng had fired a blank. Bai Haoyu gasped for air like a drowning man suddenly resurfacing, his breaths ragged, clearly unable to handle Li Feng’s taunting despite his rough nerve.
"Lend me your precious gun."
"Yes, boss."
The mercenary, known as Revolver, handed his prized possession, a classic model handgun, to Li Feng.
"This one you likely haven’t played with, but you must’ve seen it, often in movies." Li Feng said casually, dumping the orange-yellow bullets from the revolver in front of Bai Haoyu.
"You want to bet with me?"
Bai Haoyu watched Li Feng’s unhurried actions but felt like Alexander, with fine beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.
"No, I’m not betting with you. You’re betting with your life."
Having said that, Li Feng aimed the gun barrel straight at Bai Haoyu’s forehead. "You’re unafraid and very brave, right?"
"Let’s see just how brave you are."
Without waiting for his words to sink in, Li Feng pulled the trigger without any warning for Bai Haoyu.
Click.
Another empty shot. Bai Haoyu’s heart skipped a beat, and he broke out in larger sweat beads. Before he could catch his breath, Li Feng pulled the trigger a second time.
Click.
Even though it was another empty shot, Bai Haoyu felt like he’d been struck hard, staring deathly at the masked man before him, whose expression didn’t change in the slightest.
Fear crept into Bai Haoyu.
Li Feng curled his lips in a mocking smile, observing Bai Haoyu, who was now visibly shaking, and pulled the trigger once again.
Li Feng showed no hesitation, but Bai Haoyu was starting to crack. Even Dong Xin, standing beside Li Feng, was getting anxious. She had thought Li Feng only wanted to scare Bai Haoyu and couldn’t believe Li Feng had actually pulled the trigger three times.
Her heart involuntarily rose to her throat. Although Dong Xin knew about the unusual feelings her little brother-in-law had for her and had always avoided them, it wasn’t that she completely loathed Bai Haoyu.
Bai Haoyu had always been kind to her, but she had always considered her brother-in-law as just that, nothing more. Although she wanted Bai Haoyu to face reality, she didn’t want Li Feng to harm him.
"Enough."
Dong Xin stepped forward, shielding Bai Haoyu, and slapped him across the face. "How much longer are you going to be so willful, Bai Haoyu?"
"I’m your sister-in-law, and that’s all I’ll ever be. Do you understand? In my heart, you’re just a little brother, nothing more."
"If you continue to be delusional, from now on, you go your own way, and I’ll go mine. Dong Xin will cut all ties with the Bai Family."
After declaring this decisively, Dong Xin turned and grabbed Li Feng’s arm.
"Sister-in-law."
Bai Haoyu watched as Dong Xin and Li Feng left, knowing his sister-in-law had acted for his sake. He felt utterly helpless; he couldn’t even protect the woman he loved. Bai Haoyu’s heart seemed to grow even more paranoid.
"Did you really want to kill him just now?"
Away from the crowd, Dong Xin turned to look at Li Feng.
Li Feng removed the mask from his face, "I was just making him understand what reality is. This playboy still doesn’t grasp the dangers of the real world."
Dong Xin bit her lip, "Did you have to go that far? No matter what, he’s still my brother-in-law, I’ve always treated him like my own brother. Have you ever considered my feelings?"
Suddenly, Dong Xin felt she couldn’t understand the man before her, or maybe she had never truly understood him at all.
Li Feng looked at Dong Xin, and with a slight smile, he picked up the revolver in his hand and pressed it against his temple.
Without saying another word, he pulled the trigger.
Dong Xin was stunned by Li Feng’s action and was overtaken by fear. Before she could stop him, Li Feng pulled the trigger again.
That was the fifth shot, including the three he had fired at Bai Haoyu.
It was almost a fifty-fifty chance now.
Dong Xin’s heart was pounding.
"You’re crazy."
Finally coming back to her senses, Dong Xin reached out to grab Li Feng’s arm. Li Feng stepped back half a step, dodging her attempt to stop him.
"I was wrong, isn’t that enough? Put the gun down."
As the only man who had touched her heart in so many years, Dong Xin would be lying if she said she felt nothing for him. She wasn’t the kind of fickle woman; apart from a husband from an arranged marriage who had died prematurely, Li Feng was her second man.
And the only one who had stirred her emotions.
Li Feng curled his lips into a devilishly charming smile and pulled the trigger once more. The moment Dong Xin heard the sound, she instinctively closed her eyes.
Click.
Another empty shot.
"Where’s your intelligence? Why would you think I would commit suicide?" Li Feng flicked Dong Xin’s forehead with his finger.
Dong Xin glared at Li Feng, teeth gritted, "You scared me." Afterward, she began to wave her fists at him.
"You nearly scared me to death, you know that, you jerk."
"How could I bear to let such a beauty be scared?"
"Ptui."
"Huh?"
Sea City Police Department.
"What’s the matter, all this sighing?"
"There’s still no progress on the case, all leads have gone cold, and that bastard hasn’t given us any signs."
"Captain, you don’t think he’s been discovered, do you? The Kang Family crime syndicate is vicious; murder and plunder are like daily routines for them."
"What, you’re worried about Li Feng?"
"After all, it was I who got him involved."
Jin Beibei felt a pang of guilt.
"You need to look on the bright side; no news is good news," the detective captain could only comfort his subordinate this way.
"Jin Beibei, you have an express delivery."
"An express delivery for me? I haven’t bought anything in the past half-month."
Jin Beibei was puzzled.
"Besides, I wouldn’t have it shipped to the station if I did buy something."
