Chapter 355: Chapter 355: King of Fighters
Bai Haoyu took a tour bus directly to the Duel Arena, entering through the main gate straight into the VIP box, which was neither too far nor too close to the arena below, affording a perfect view of the entire arena.
No sooner had Bai Haoyu sat down than there was a knock on the door of the box, and a slick, portly man walked in. "Mr. Bai, I’m Huang Zhong, the manager of the Duel Arena. I heard that you wanted to see me."
"Mm."
Bai Haoyu hummed through his nose and glanced up at the manager of the Duel Arena. "I heard your duels have some special features?"
Huang Zhong understood and smiled. "Hmm, Mr. Bai, do you have any particular requests?"
"Bring forth your most formidable and ruthless fighter, but don’t let him be killed off too easily. I want him to stay alive yet suffer as if he was better off dead."
As Bai Haoyu thought of his sister-in-law being disgraced by that pig Li Feng, a surge of anger rose in his chest, and he gritted his teeth.
"Understood."
"I’ll take care of it right away."
Huang Zhong turned and left, and Bai Haoyu’s gaze shifted to the arena below, where a bikini-clad beauty with sun-kissed skin and a curvaceous figure was holding a microphone.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Hell Arena opens again, reigniting the exhilarating bloodshed. Are you ready?"
The female host’s sonorous voice echoed across the arena.
"Next up, we invite today’s gladiator, from T country, the Boxing King with six golden belts, known as the underground ’King of the Ring’—Sanggu."
"Damn, what a big event today, they actually brought out Sanggu."
One young gentleman nearby, evidently a first-timer, asked curiously, "This Sanggu sounds quite formidable?"
"Heh, formidable is an understatement. This guy came from T country, trained in combat sports from a young age, and has defeated all opponents on the boxing stages of T country. He has no rivals beneath his fists."
"T Boxing? Is it more impressive than Karate?"
"Brother, you’re out of your depth. Karate is fine for fooling around, but T Boxing is a real lethal art."
"You clearly haven’t seen much yet. And this T Boxing isn’t like what you see on TV, which is all flashy but just for show. What you’re about to watch isn’t only entertaining but will also excite you immensely."
"It’s like an adrenaline rush, now that’s a real man’s game."
"So going up against Sanggu, I’m definitely going to win!"
"You’ll win for sure, but the odds will be pityingly low, it’s almost like giving money away, though we’ll see who the opponent is."
"His opponent will be a mysterious challenger, and we’ll keep you guessing for now. The betting channels are now open, and VIP guests who wish to place bets should do so before the battle begins."
After finishing her speech, the hostess placed one foot in a loop of rope, grabbed another rope with her hand, and was hoisted up, seemingly descending from heaven.
As she ascended, two thick steel barriers on the walls below slowly rose.
"Sanggu, Sanggu...!"
The crowd in the Duel Arena immediately resonated with calls for Sanggu. A young man with brown skin and about 1.7 meters tall emerged from the gate, bare-chested, wearing a vintage battle kilt and walking into the arena amid cheers like a king returning.
Smeared with some kind of oil, Sanggu, under the blazing sun, appeared like a War God, his well-toned muscles bursting with savage power.
"Mr. Bai, this is our number one gladiator in the Duel Arena. Ever since he came here, he has never been defeated, many call him the underground ’King of the Ring.’"
"Underground ’King of the Ring.’"
Bai Haoyu curled up the corners of his mouth. "You did well, here’s your reward." Bai Haoyu casually tossed something.
Huang Zhong instinctively reached out to catch it, and upon looking down after grabbing it, he exclaimed, "Holy crap, a little yellowfish."
Weighing it in his hand, the item was at least half a jin in weight.
Half a jin of gold, by any estimation, was worth at least a hundred and eighty thousand, a decent sum for him indeed, especially significant since it wasn’t just money, it was gold.
This level is just different.
Li Feng emerged from the other side of the gate, immediately facing the glaring sun. He quickly understood his current situation. He had been stuffed into this so-called duel arena, which was essentially an open-air underground boxing ring.
As for the rules, they were the same as in any boxing ring—only one could leave alive.
Seeing such a place on Paradise Island didn’t surprise Li Feng. After all, he had been to Sha Wang’s youngest son, Kang Lan’s boxing ring before.
Kang Lan had wanted him dead, but Li Feng had killed Kang Lan directly. Sha Wang still didn’t know who had done it.
Unexpectedly, he had been sent back to the ring.
Li Feng looked up at Sanggu, who was facing him—a typical Southeast Continent native, exuding an intense murderous aura.
Underground boxing king.
The name truly was domineering.
"Who is this guy?"
"Dressed in a suit, is he kidding?"
Standing at the front row of the duel arena, Tang Bin squinted his eyes and smiled. Idiot, you’ve offended Bai, and you still want to live? Daring to mess with Bai’s woman, you really are not afraid of death.
This guy was definitely going to die miserably, although the odds weren’t great, Tang Bin quickly acted, betting a hundred million.
Though the odds were awkwardly low at 100 to 1, a hundred million could still earn a million—a small consolation, participation matters, right?
"Just ram him to death, save time."
"Exactly, is it even necessary to fight this guy? Probably won’t withstand a single punch from the boxing king."
"Is this first match a welfare game, giving us free money?"
"I’m betting thirty million first."
"Thirty million, that’s nothing, I’m betting a hundred million."
"The odds are too low, really not interested in betting."
Some people looked at the pitiful odds, wholly uninterested.
In the VIP box, Bai Haoyu seemed to have heard the surrounding voices. He turned his head and looked towards the duel arena manager.
"I’m betting five billion on Li Feng winning!"
"Ah!"
Manager Huang Zhong, surprised, looked up at Bai Haoyu: "Mr. Bai, are you sure to bet on Li Feng? That’s like sure loss...!"
Having said that, Huang Zhong suddenly snapped back to reality: "That’s a huge bet."
"Just a few billion, to lighten up the mood," Bai Haoyu waved his hand, and Huang Zhong quickly began to make arrangements.
No wonder this young man was someone Sha Wang had instructed to be handled with care—his moves were extraordinary.
Once the five billion were thrown down, the odds suddenly changed drastically, even directly reaching an unexpected seven to one.
"Holy crap, which moron bet on the other guy to win? Is he trying to throw away his money?"
"I have to place a bet on this."
"I’ll bet too, but does anyone recognize this suit guy? Could he actually be a master?" someone couldn’t help but wonder.
Even some couldn’t help but strategically place a few million on Li Feng, though it wasn’t much, it was no longer one-sided.
Eventually, the odds settled at thirteen to one. That meant the money bet on the boxing king had reached a staggering over seven billion, while over six billion had been placed on Li Feng.
