Chapter 337 Paradise Island
Chapter 337: Chapter 337 Paradise Island
Public Sea.
A day had passed.
Li Feng sat in a chair he’d carried to the highest point of the cargo ship—a yet common bulk carrier of ten thousand tons. Over the day, Li Feng had rummaged through the vessel and found numerous everyday items. Clearly, this ship was tasked with delivering supplies to Paradise Island.
Gusts of sea breeze blew by, and the distant roar of engines filled the air. Li Feng squinted toward the horizon, spotting a speedboat—probably a few hundred tons—racing toward the cargo ship.
From afar, he could already see Bai Lang standing on the speedboat. Li Feng’s mouth curved upwards slightly; he patted his cheeks. It was time to act again.
Li Feng approached the ship’s railing and waved a makeshift white flag at the approaching speedboat—Bai Lang lifted his binoculars to look toward the ship’s side.
"Pull alongside."
As the speedboat closed in, Li Feng promptly threw down a rope ladder, and in no time, Bai Lang, along with a few others, had climbed to the railing and jumped onto the deck.
"Zhao Chaotian, where are you?"
Li Feng stuck his head out from the upper deck, "I’m here, Bai Lang. You’re not here to kill me to silence me, are you?"
"I’m telling you, I’m not someone you can bully easily. If you don’t believe me, take a look over there."
With a grim face, Bai Lang turned to where Li Feng was pointing—a large tarp was covering something. The gunman motioned with his eyes to another behind him. Understanding the signal, the man advanced and yanked the tarp away.
As the tarp was lifted, a stench of blood and decay hit them. Bai Lang, despite having a toughened resolve through years of violence, also involuntarily gasped at the sight of the mountain of bodies.
One of the gunmen who lifted the tarp couldn’t handle the scene and turned away, violently vomiting. Clearly, this sight of so many corpses piled together was something these Yan Country bodyguards had never witnessed.
Suppressing the shock and discomfort churning within, Bai Lang turned to face Li Feng, who was holding a gun and looking particularly vigilant. Bai Lang had learned in Sea City that this kid had a ruthless streak—if pushed far enough, he indeed dared to shoot someone.
To his complete surprise, the kid had proven even more ruthless than Bai Lang had imagined—there must be at least twenty corpses here, which the kid had apparently decided to kill without hesitation.
"Zhao Chaotian, I’ve been ordered by Mr. Kang Yu to pick you up."
Li Feng considered Bai Lang. "Hmm, how do I know you’re not here to settle a personal score and take me out?"
Bai Lang drew a deep, cold breath. "Zhao Chaotian, you called Mr. Kang Yu for help—that means you trust him. And Mr. Kang Yu has told me everything."
"Despite my wanting to get rid of you, do you think killing you would benefit me right now? I’m not that foolish."
"Besides, you’ve taken out half a squadron of Sha Wang’s men. Mr. Kang Yu is urgently heading to Paradise Island right now. You should worry about how you’ll face Sha Wang."
"I want to return to my country," Li Feng said through clenched teeth.
Bai Lang grunted. "Zhao Chaotian, do you think going back to your country ends this? Offending Sha Wang, there’s nowhere you could run to, not even to the ends of the earth, that would save you from death. The only way to live now is to come with me to Paradise Island."
"Sha Wang is someone who values capability. With Mr. Kang Yu pleading for you, there might be a slim chance for you."
"Think for yourself what you want to do."
Bai Lang had nothing more to say; Li Feng leaped down from the upper deck in response. "If Mr. Kang Yu is really going to plead for me, what do you think are my chances?"
Seeing Li Feng’s somewhat anxious expression, Bai Lang scoffed inwardly. At the end of the day, the kid was still just a hot-blooded youth.
"You’re considered one of Mr. Kang Yu’s men, plus you’ve got your uncle’s favor. Mr. Kang Yu will surely speak for you. But having killed so many this time, we can’t just let it slide without an explanation."
Li Feng frowned, his temper flaring. "If it’s about trading a life for a life, I might as well go back to my country. Yan Country is vast. I don’t believe they could really find me."
"Listen to what I’m saying," Bai Lang continued. "The Family Head always favors capable people. Although you’ve caused trouble, you’ve also proven your worth. Paradise Island respects the strong. Once we’re there, Mr. Kang Yu will naturally seize the opportunity for you."
"Weren’t you trained in martial arts from a young age, and aren’t you known for your abilities? As long as you catch the Family Head’s eye, not only will your life be spared, but you might even soar high and be highly valued."
"Really?"
Li Feng pondered briefly. "Okay, I’ll go with you. As the saying goes, ’a man can’t die with heaven’s consent.’ An old Taoist once told me I have a resilient life, destined to live ninety-nine years."
"Let’s do it."
Bai Lang glanced at the obstinate Li Feng before directing him onto the speedboat. Meanwhile, two or three others went down to stay on the cargo ship.
"Is Paradise Island far from here?"
"You might as well go below and get some sleep," Bai Lang said, looking at Li Feng, who just shrugged his shoulders. "Hmm, I get it, it’s a secret location."
"Whatever, I’m going to sleep."
Li Feng turned and went below deck. The speedboat, being only a few hundred tons, obviously did not offer much space in the cabin, but Li Feng didn’t fuss and simply found a berth to sleep deeply in.
Only when the sunset did Li Feng wake up to a shake.
"Are we there?"
"Almost."
Li Feng got up from the berth, rubbed his eyes, and stepped onto the deck. The fading sunset revealed an island enveloped by tropical rainforest, crystal clear waters all around, plus a sizable stretch of golden sand.
Quite the view.
The island wasn’t the only one in the vicinity; several more dotted the area, forming a string of archipelagos.
As they approached, another speedboat crossed their path—a clear sign of Paradise Island’s tight security.
Under surveillance of the other speedboat, Li Feng’s craft headed towards a different part of the island. This side featured sheer cliffs, with only a narrow fissure providing access to the interior. Once they navigated through, an expanse laid out before Li Feng’s eyes.
A small lake connected to the sea. The Kang Family sure knew how to choose a location. The speedboat docked at a small pier by the lake, and Li Feng surveyed his surroundings. It was unmistakably a small encampment.
"Get off the boat," Bai Lang prompted.
Li Feng eyed the guards on the pier. "Are you sure they won’t just shoot me the moment I get off?"
"Mr. Kang Yu is here too; what are you afraid of?"
Bai Lang rolled his eyes. He hadn’t realized Li Feng could be this fearful of death.
Seeing Kang Yu, Li Feng took a deep breath and jumped from the boat, heading straight for him, "Mr. Kang Yu, I have been wronged. You must advocate for me."
