Chapter 256: What a Coincidence

Chapter 256: Chapter 256: What a Coincidence

Jin Beibei hadn’t expected to run headlong into Li Feng and looked slightly embarrassed, but on seeing the teasing look in Li Feng’s eyes, Jin Beibei straightened her head and looked back defiantly.

"It is quite a coincidence."

Li Feng sized up Jin Beibei, who had changed into casual clothes—jeans paired with a wool sweater and her face slightly made up. A pair of sunglasses sat on her nose, covering half of her face, clearly for tailing someone.

But such a disguise was child’s play.

"What are you looking at?"

Jin Beibei turned away, her discontent clear as she faced Li Feng’s seemingly lecherous stare, and snapped fiercely at him.

Li Feng had known long ago that Jin Beibei had been tracking him, otherwise, it wouldn’t be such a coincidence.

"Take your time browsing, Officer Jin."

Li Feng picked up two pieces of clothing and headed straight to the cash register. "Check out."

Jin Beibei hadn’t expected Li Feng to simply turn and leave. Was he feeling guilty? She stole glances at Li Feng as he paid and left.

"They’re still behind us."

Zhang Wannian didn’t look back as he spoke to Li Feng next to him. He really couldn’t figure out Li Feng now, clearly capable yet utterly lacking any awareness of his own strength.

"I know, if they want to follow, let them follow."

Li Feng turned and walked into a self-service barbecue restaurant.

"Beibei, do you think he hasn’t noticed us tailing him?"

Liu Xue spoke while looking at Jin Beibei, "I feel like he’s been deliberately circling us."

Actually, it wasn’t even a feeling anymore; from the moment Beibei was spotted, they knew they had been seen. Anyway, she felt as if she was like an emperor in new clothes deluding herself.

Jin Beibei bit her lip, feeling as if she had been slapped in the face. Even Liu Xue could sense it, and she wasn’t stupid—not realizing such things, but she just didn’t want to admit it.

"If tailing is useless, then let’s be direct."

"Ah!"

Liu Xue watched as Jin Beibei directly headed for the barbecue restaurant. That was too direct.

"The two of you."

"Your bill has already been paid."

The cashier looked at Jin Beibei and Liu Xue, glanced behind them, and Jin Beibei turned to see Li Feng waving at them from a distance.

"Beibei?"

"Damn it." Jin Beibei gritted her teeth, now absolutely certain that he was just teasing them.

"Quite the coincidence, Officer Jin, meeting you again."

Jin Beibei could clearly hear the mockery in Li Feng’s words. "Yes, quite the coincidence."

Li Feng smiled crookedly.

"Officer Jin, from whom did you learn to tail someone? It really isn’t very professional."

"Am I tailing you?"

Jin Beibei scoffed coldly.

"Don’t flatter yourself. Can’t I shop with my colleague? Is this mall owned by you, not allowing others to shop?"

"Am I reading too much into this?"

Jin Beibei scoffed twice.

Li Feng squinted his eyes: "Wanna make a bet?"

"Why would I make a bet with you?"

Jin Beibei was utterly dismissive of Li Feng, who kept talking. "Since you say it’s a coincidence, I’m curious to see if such coincidences really do happen in the world."

As Li Feng finished, he suddenly pushed the table in front of him, trapping Jin Beibei between the table and the chair, and then he bolted.

"Li Feng."

Jin Beibei looked at Li Feng’s back, pushed away the table that was trapping her, and chased after him. When she reached the entrance of the restaurant, Jin Beibei realized Li Feng had vanished.

"Did anyone see him?"

"Over there, I saw him go left."

Jin Beibei immediately turned and chased left: "Liu Xue, you keep an eye on Zhang Wannian, I’ll go after Li Feng."

"Okay."

Liu Xue nodded, but just then, she felt someone standing behind her and turned around with a start to face Zhang Wannian.

"You!"

"Don’t move."

Zhang Wannian whispered close to Liu Xue’s ear. Liu Xue’s heart raced as Zhang Wannian reached up to flick her earlobe, removing a Bluetooth earpiece.

"What are you doing?"

Liu Xue sharply came back to her senses and looked at Zhang Wannian.

"Nothing, just want to eat quietly, don’t worry, I won’t run." Zhang Wannian said and turned to pick up a plate to continue serving himself meat.

Liu Xue bit her lip, looking at Zhang Wannian: "What are you guys really up to?"

Zhang Wannian shrugged: "I don’t know what he’s up to."

After selecting their meat and vegetables, the two returned to their seats, Liu Xue feeling confused and uneasy.

"Good, made it just in time."

Liu Xue looked up to see Li Feng sitting opposite her, mouth agape: "You, how did you come back?"

"Where’s Beibei?"

Li Feng, eating the meat he had picked up with his chopsticks, said between bites, "Her? She’s probably still searching the mall for me. Don’t worry about her, let’s eat."

Liu Xue gaped, poor Beibei.
