Chapter 237: Chapter 237 Unsolved
"Do we even need to think about it?"
Wang Jin’er pressed a hand to her forehead. Even though she hadn’t been the president for long, she understood there must be a ghost in the works. Glancing at Li Feng’s smirk, Wang Jin’er couldn’t help but seethe.
"Li Feng, are you up to this or not? Running a company isn’t like playing house—you can’t just do whatever you want. Have you thought about the consequences if you can’t solve Clover Group’s problem?"
"Ten million is good, but it’s clearly a trap somebody set for you."
"Exactly, someone digs a pit, and you just jump right in, so damn neatly, too."
Su Yuqing chimed in from the side.
Li Feng glanced at Su Yuqing, his little secretary, and curled his lips, "Even you guys can tell; do you think I wouldn’t notice?"
"You noticed? Don’t tell me it’s hindsight," Su Yuqing retorted.
Li Feng laughed and turned to Wang Jin’er, "You have to trust me, just leave this matter to me, I’ll take the ten million."
"Don’t forget to reward me later," Li Feng winked at Wang Jin’er and then walked out.
Wang Jin’er rolled her eyes, "Pfft, who would reward you."
"President, you’re just letting him go like that?" Su Yuqing looked at Wang Jin’er. Why did it seem like the president didn’t have a way to deal with this scoundrel?
Wang Jin’er exhaled, "If we don’t let him go, what can we do? The contract is already signed. Do you want to breach it? Then we’d be the biggest joke in the industry."
"But we can’t just let him do whatever he wants," Wang Jin’er bit her lip and walked toward the door.
"Where are you going, President?"
To the small meeting room of Myth Communication.
Jiang Linda was efficient; in less than half an hour, she had scraped quite a bit of content about Clover Group from the internet.
"I’ve already picked out some content we want. The event started with a medical incident—a patient suffered hallucinations and nervous breakdown after taking drugs produced by Clover Group."
"Then it led to a cerebral thrombus, and although the patient was rescued, they’re showing signs of hemiplegia and are now in the hospital, unable to move."
Wang Jin’er murmured in response and looked at Jiang Linda, "Can we confirm that this medical incident was caused by the drugs?"
Jiang Linda shook her head, "Based on the information leaked online, it’s possible, but it’s hard to determine whether the patient’s series of symptoms were actually caused by Clover Group’s drugs. That needs to be explained by experts."
Wang Jin’er, who had interned at a charitable foundation, naturally had dealings with hospitals. She understood that in such cases, it’s typically ’he said, she said’. Trying to pin down who’s right and who’s wrong is pretty much impossible.
"Let’s put the determination issue aside for now. We are currently Clover Group’s public relations firm; naturally, we need to help mitigate the impact of this incident. Linda, what’s the reaction online to this event?"
Jiang Linda hummed and spoke up.
"The public opinion on this issue seems to have been suppressed by Clover Group and has not generated widespread discussion, just some scattered reports."
"Oh."
Wang Jin’er furrowed her brow, "If Clover Group has already suppressed the public opinion, then as long as they handle the patient’s issue properly, this should be easy to resolve. Why would they spend ten million to hire us?"
Wang Jin’er was puzzled, and Jiang Linda was also somewhat perplexed. As a PR person, keeping up-to-date with real-time developments in the business world is basic, though Clover Group was not their client.
But before this, she hadn’t heard of any major news breakout concerning Clover Group—it was only mentioned by the other party today, and that’s how they knew.
Without a doubt, it seemed like the matter had already been settled.
Li Feng tapped his fingers on the desk, "Why are you all looking at me? Isn’t it good if there’s nothing wrong? Clover Group just gave us ten million for nothing."
"You wish," I always feel a bit uneasy in my heart."
When something unusual happens, there must be a demon lurking, and at this moment, Wang Jin’er was feeling completely uncertain.
"I also think that Clover Group seems to be hiding something from us, and what they are holding back is a bombshell."
Jiang Linda was also harboring a bad premonition.
Li Feng stood up from the chair, Wang Jin’er turned her head to see, "Where are you going?"
"Racking our brains here is pointless, might as well go directly to the hospital to see the patient and understand the situation."
"Oh right, look into this patient’s background too."
"I’ll go with you."
Wang Jin’er stood up right away. She had to keep an eye on Li Feng. Li Feng shrugged his shoulders, led Wang Jin’er downstairs, and drove toward Sea City First Hospital.
On the way.
Suddenly, Jiang Linda made a phone call. Li Feng pressed the speakerphone button, "It’s me, did you find anything?"
Jiang Linda was breathing a little quickly, "This is big trouble, do you know who the patient admitted to the hospital is?"
"Oh, who is it?"
"Chen Qinian."
"No wonder the other side has been vague, previous reports online used ’XX’ as a placeholder. Only after I asked around did I find out that one party in this matter is Chen Qinian, the old chairman of Century Group. The reason it hasn’t been made public is that neither family wants to become the center of attention. But privately, the two sides are at each other’s throats like fire and water."
Jiang Linda’s mouth was bitter. Lately, problems had surfaced within Myth Communication, and since Myth Communication was a newcomer to the business, it had managed so far with the help of a couple of industry insiders.
But with the former boss gone and the biggest partner, Zhou Jie, chased away by Li Feng, the two newly appointed individuals were both novices.
This news wasn’t a secret in the industry, but Myth Communication was completely unaware of it. She had found out about it through Zhou Jie.
"This mission is simply impossible to complete."
"Hiss."
Wang Jin’er also took a sharp breath of cold air. No wonder the situation felt so eerie; it turned out to be such a mess.
Clover Group was no small entity, a multinational pharmaceutical conglomerate, but Century Group was also a behemoth, one of Sea City’s top ten conglomerates. While not matching up to Wang Group, being in the top ten alone spoke to its strength.
The two corporations hadn’t clashed openly, which clearly meant that behind the scenes, they were already at each other’s necks like fighting dogs.
In this sort of situation, there was simply nothing reasonable to argue.
Originally it was just a battle between two conglomerates, but now Myth Communication was being dragged into it, like putting them through a meat grinder.
"I knew it, this is a huge pitfall, but I had never imagined it to be such a deadly one."
Wang Jin’er leaned back in her seat, feeling utterly hopeless.
"Li Feng, let’s break the contract."
"Why should we break the contract?"
Li Feng looked at Wang Jin’er, who suddenly turned to gaze intently at him, "Don’t you see? This trouble is irreconcilable. Chen Qinian is Century’s old chairman, do you think he would be satisfied with Clover’s compensation?"
"When Clover signed the contract before, didn’t they tell you that they would not accept any form of extortion? That is to say, Clover doesn’t plan on giving in at all. Do you think you have what it takes to make these two conglomerates shake hands and make peace?"
"Even if my dad stepped in, neither corporation might bother to give face."
"It’s an unsolvable problem, do you get it?"
