Chapter 198: Chapter 198: That’s How Arrogant It Is

The atmosphere inside the bar tensed up with He Dong’s words.

"Director He, my friend hasn’t offended you, right?"

Tong Qian bit her lips as she looked at He Dong, who was making things difficult for Li Feng. He Dong was a famous figure in the entertainment industry, not only serving as an executive director at an entertainment company but also coming from a well-connected family.

"He actually did offend me."

He Dong squinted at Tong Qian, dressed in a maid outfit. He had been familiar with Tong Qian for more than a day or two. The fresh-faced actress had both beauty and figure, and her temperament wasn’t bad either. In his hands, she was definitely someone he could make even more famous.

He Dong smiled slightly and turned his head to look at Li Feng.

"To drink or not to drink is up to you, but don’t say I didn’t warn you; I don’t tolerate any dissent."

"Offended me, huh."

The threatening tone in He Dong’s words was very apparent. Tong Qian felt a surge of anger looking at He Dong’s posture, but before she could react, Sun Yutong grabbed her: "You better not be impulsive."

He Dong, known in the industry with the nickname "Old Wolf," was notoriously vengeful. If they wanted to continue in the entertainment industry, they couldn’t afford to offend him. Otherwise, he could blacklist them with just a word, and that was no joke.

Sun Yutong held onto Tong Qian and stepped forward, squeezing out a smile towards Li Feng: "Li Feng, it’s just three glasses of liquor. Here, I’ll drink three with you."

After saying that, Sun Yutong took three glasses, poured the drinks, and intended to give each a way out.

He Dong grabbed Sun Yutong’s wrist with a cold laugh: "Did I just tell you to stay out of this? Is this something you can meddle in?"

He Dong gave no face to Sun Yutong, who, despite being a shining third-tier celebrity and a goddess in the public eye, was just a high-end plaything in his view.

He wanted to be with her because she was good in bed and knew how to serve people. But right now, he was more interested in Tong Qian.

Now that he had encountered her, he had no intention of letting go.

Sun Yutong felt a wave of embarrassment as she bit her lips. She hadn’t expected He Dong to be so openly disdainful.

He Dong scoffed: "Now, you’re not drinking three, but six."

Li Feng, faced with the very arrogant He Dong, picked up a glass of liquor.

"What if I don’t drink?"

He Dong sneered at Li Feng: "Not drinking? As I said earlier, if you don’t drink, you’re offending me."

"Offend you? And what would be the consequences?"

Li Feng lifted his eyes and looked faintly at He Dong.

"Ha ha, ha ha."

He Dong laughed wildly: "You just mentioned your PR firm, do you believe that I could make a call and have you sacked immediately?"

Li Feng pursed his lips and gave He Dong a provocative look.

"I really don’t believe that."

He Dong, still confronting Li Feng, said: "Oh you don’t believe it? Which company did you say you were with?"

"Myth Communication."

He Dong immediately pulled out his phone: "Myth Communication, huh? What a coincidence, I just happen to know the president of Myth Communication."

"Think about it, if you drink, I’ll let you off the hook. If you don’t, after this call, don’t cry. Nowadays, finding a good job isn’t easy, and I guarantee, you won’t be able to find a job in PR ever again."

"Director Dong, why so severe over such a trivial matter?" Tong Qian took a deep breath and squeezed out a smile as she stepped forward.

He Dong turned to look at the speaking Tong Qian and, unlike his scolding of Sun Yutong earlier, he squinted and smiled.

"Tong Qian, I heard your contract with your current company is almost up. Why not sign with me? I assure you, I’ll make you even more famous and successful."

"Just nod your head, and we’ll all be friends here, just a joke between friends earlier."

Sun Yutong, standing aside and biting her lip, knew all too well He Dong’s tactics. By signing Tong Qian, she would just become another puppet at his mercy.

She was the living proof of it.

She thought she had found backing, only now realizing she had fallen into the trap of this lecher. Although she had gained some opportunities, only she knew the humiliation it cost her.

Tong Qian bit her lip; she and Sun Yutong were best friends, and Sun Yutong naturally didn’t hold back when talking about He Dong’s character. But she was powerless; the entertainment industry is a mix of dragons and snakes, thriving here demanded sacrifices far beyond what ordinary people could see.

"Director Dong, my managerial contract is still with Sister Mei, plus the company has already given me a new contract."

On hearing Tong Qian’s refusal, He Dong let out a derisive laugh.

"Tong Qian, we’re all in the same circle. Do you think I’m blind and deaf to your troubles?"

"Didn’t you have a falling out with your financial backer? The scene you caused at that dinner party, that would have never happened before."

"To put it unkindly, you are now a fallen phoenix less than a chicken."

"Besides, having been in this industry for so long, you should know that to advance and become popular, you need someone behind you."

"Is rejecting my olive branch a good idea?"

He Dong’s face wore a pleasant expression, but his words carried threats, and Tong Qian’s face changed, although just briefly, He Dong caught it, and it seemed he guessed correctly.

Tong Qian bit her lip but realized she was utterly powerless to resist. He spoke the truth; although she seemed glamorous, her difficulties were mounting.

She was just one of the emerging Four Young Actresses, her status not yet secure. If she were blacklisted or put on ice, all her past efforts would be wasted in one or two years; this industry always had newcomers laughing at the established ones’ tears.

"Li Feng, I’m sorry, I meant to really thank you today. Why don’t you head back first, I’ll find you another day."

Tong Qian made her choice, and though she was grateful to Li Feng and had feelings for him, and they had even been each other’s first love, Tong Qian didn’t mind getting closer to Li Feng.

But reality forced her to submit.

Watching Tong Qian say this, He Dong was overjoyed: "Ha, ha, I wasn’t wrong about you; you indeed have the potential to be a big star."

"Aren’t you leaving?"

He Dong looked at Li Feng with a smug face, "See that? You’re just a lowly PR man, nothing more."

"I’m taking her right in front of you, what can you do about it?"

Li Feng lifted the glass in his hand and gulped down the fiery drink, the burning sensation in his stomach indescribable.

"Drinking now? A bit late, but for Tong Qian’s sake, I won’t make a fuss over this."

He Dong spun the barstool around and walked towards Tong Qian: "Sooner rather than later, let’s discuss the contract."

He Dong directly reached out and wrapped his arm around Tong Qian’s waist.
