Chapter 103: Chapter 103 Dumb Loss
"Huh!"
Li Fengtu suddenly let go of Wang Yangming’s hand and brushed his collar straight. "You want me to hit you, don’t you?"
Li Feng leaned in close and whispered, "Is this jealousy and envy I detect?"
"Your cousin sure has a great figure, too bad for you, all you can do is look on enviously."
"You wouldn’t be fantasizing about it in your head, would you? You’re truly a beast."
"Damn it, shut your mouth."
Wang Yangming grabbed Li Feng’s collar in a flash, rearing up his fist. This bastard was too shameless, twisting the facts—he’d never entertained such thoughts.
Even if he had, he’d never admit it.
Wang Yangming swung his fist at Li Feng, who did not even try to dodge, allowing the punch to land squarely on his face. Li Feng collapsed to the ground.
"Ouch, I’m being hit, help!"
Wang Yangming stared, dumbfounded, at the fallen Li Feng. Was his punch really that powerful? But he hardly felt it.
Li Feng’s scream, of course, reached the ears of the Wang daughters in the next room. Wang Jin’er, already anxious, jumped to her feet at the first sign of trouble and rushed outside.
Hearing the commotion, Li Feng suddenly lifted his leg in a quick move, kicking Wang Mingyang’s shin. Caught off guard, Wang Yangming toppled forward in a heap.
"What’s going on?"
Wang Jin’er hurried to the yard, the other Wang ladies following, only to find Wang Yangming sprawled on top of Li Feng, hands wrapped around Li Feng’s throat.
"Wang Yangming, have you lost your mind?"
A woman dressed in pale blue emerged from the crowd. With a cold face and knitted brows, she strode over to the two men "fighting." She reached out to grab Wang Yangming.
"Let go of him."
"Sister, it’s not like that."
"What do you mean it’s not? Let go of him now!" Wang Mingxin snapped at Wang Yangming. She knew exactly what kind of person her brother was, a spoiled rich second-generation fool.
But she hadn’t imagined that her brother would be so foolish as to "assault" Li Feng in front of everyone. If word of this got out, he wouldn’t be able to walk away unscathed.
Even if they had grievances against this arranged marriage, even if they scorned Li Feng’s status, he was still one of the Li Family. The Wang Family could grumble in private, but making it public was slapping the Li Family’s face.
Was the Li Family’s face so easily slapped?
Wang Mingxin pulled Wang Yangming away, and Wang Jin’er stepped forward to help Li Feng up, whispering in his ear.
"What happened?"
Wang Jin’er knew about this cousin; he was a notorious womanizer who often bullied others. But she also knew what sort of person Li Feng was.
A man who could take on a dozen alone, who wouldn’t even frown if faced with a gun. Surely he wouldn’t let her witless cousin pummel him on the ground.
That just didn’t make sense.
"I’m just following your advice—don’t fight back, don’t talk back. I did well, right?"
Li Feng winked at Wang Jin’er.
Wang Jin’er blinked, her face expressing disbelief that Li Feng would be so obedient.
"Sister, it’s not that, I really didn’t do anything."
Wang Mingyang tried to explain, but Wang Mingxin glared fiercely at her brother. "Everyone saw it. Are you saying they’re all blind?"
"As if you could." Wang Mingxin glanced at the other cousins and relatives gathered around to watch the commotion. Her brother didn’t even realize he was being manipulated.
No one else was daring to take the lead.
"Look for yourself, sis. Wang Mingrui, you recorded everything, didn’t you? Show it." Wang Mingyang was feeling wronged as he snatched the phone from Wang Mingrui’s hand.
"Sis, see for yourself."
Wang Mingyang then replayed the video he had just recorded.
Wang Mingxin watched it. The video was short: first, she saw Li Feng grab her brother by the collar, but he quickly released his grip.
Her own brother, relentless, punched Li Feng straight in the face, and then like a "starving tiger pouncing on its prey," he lunged at Li Feng, who had fallen to the ground, hands choking Li Feng’s neck.
"So this is your explanation? You think you’re so tough, huh?"
Wang Mingxin threw a slap across his face.
Smack.
Her slap landed on Wang Mingyang’s face, leaving him utterly dumbfounded.
"No, sis, it’s not like that. He kicked me."
Wang Mingxin, looking at her brother who was still trying to argue, felt emotionally exhausted. With a brother like this, there was no way their branch of the family would stand a chance at the succession rights. It was pointless.
"Jin’er, brother-in-law, I apologize on behalf of my brother. He’s just a scoundrel. Please don’t stoop to his level. I’ll discipline him later."
Wang Mingxin turned to apologize to Li Feng and Wang Jin’er.
"Ming Xin, Wang Mingyang really crossed the line this time."
Wang Mingxin exhaled, turned around, and grabbed Wang Mingyang’s ear: "What are you standing there for? Apologize to Jin’er and your brother-in-law."
"Sis, it wasn’t my fault... it was all him...!"
"I’m telling you again, apologize."
Wang Mingyang reluctantly swallowed his saliva, and Li Feng couldn’t help but glance at Wang Mingxin. Wang Mingxin, the eldest daughter of the third branch of the Wang Family, three years older than Wang Jin’er, held the stature as the eldest daughter of their generation within the Wang Family.
Wang Mingyang was a good-for-nothing, but Wang Mingxin was a force to be reckoned with.
Beside them, Wang Mingrui was still confused about the situation. Wasn’t the intention to deal with this bastard who had walked in? How did it turn out this way?
"Ming Xin, you should stop hitting your brother. This is a matter between us men; you don’t need to get involved."
"Men roughhousing is just how we get to know each other. It’s not like you ladies, petty and holding grudges."
"Li Feng is Mr. Li’s son, and I’ve only heard about him before. Seeing him today, he truly presents well, especially standing next to Jin’er—they make a handsome couple."
"Indeed, they’re well matched." Others chimed in.
Li Feng observed the young man who had stepped forward to smooth things over. He appeared to be under thirty, with strong facial features and a dignified carriage, an absolute stark contrast to the dissolute Wang Mingyang.
Wang Minglun, the eldest son of the second branch, currently served as a deputy director in the Wang Group. According to the information Li Feng had, the man was a rising star in the business circles of Sea City, one of the top ten young people in the city, a leader amongst his peers.
Had it not been for his birth in the second family, he was undoubtedly the rightful heir to the role of Clan Leader.
Wang Mingxin glanced at Wang Minglun, who had spoken, and scoffed internally, completely ungracious. Only her foolish brother could be duped and still count the money for others.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the matriarch invites you to the hall for a chat."
The Wang Family’s steward walked in through a side gate.
"Let’s go, brother-in-law. Grandmother is calling. Many of the family’s elders are here today, and more than half of them probably want to meet you," remarked Wang Minglun as he stepped forward to slap Li Feng on the back.
Li Feng remained noncommittal, but Wang Jin’er at his side seemed a bit nervous.
"Don’t be too nervous, just be natural," whispered Wang Jin’er to Li Feng in reassurance.
