Chapter 740: Chapter 759: As One Flower Wilt, Another Blossoms
“What are your names?” Ye Xuan asked softly.
“The young master is Chu Tian, and she is my sister Chu Yue. What do you want to do?” The youth Chu Tian spoke with a fierce tone, swinging a rolling pin as if to intimidate Ye Xuan.
“Chu Tian? Chu Yue?”
Ye Xuan murmured to himself, then let out a self-deprecating smile. It turned out they really weren’t his relatives after all. It turned out that everything had already become the past, and the so-called home no longer had the people from the old days.
“What’s wrong, what happened?”
An anxious voice came from inside the house. A middle-aged woman was seen quickly walking out, and when Ye Xuan set his eyes on her, he became utterly stunned on the spot.
“How… how is it possible… how can she look so much alike?”
At that moment, the fat man Huang exclaimed in shock. Even though a hundred thousand years had passed, Huang had frequently interacted with Ye Xuan’s family in the old days. The appearance of this middle-aged woman now bore an incredible eight parts resemblance to Ye Xuan’s mother from those times, which left Huang completely incredulous.
“Mom, this man barged into our home and bullied my little sister. You must call the police quickly,” Chu Tian spoke anxiously, deeply afraid that these two strangers who had appeared suddenly would harm his family.
“What?”
The mother’s expression changed drastically as she hurriedly looked over at Ye Xuan and the other person. But when she saw Ye Xuan’s sorrowful eyes, she froze, and did not take out her phone to call the police.
For some reason, when the mother saw Ye Xuan, she suddenly felt an extremely warm familiarity within her heart.
This feeling came without reason, but it was the most genuine feeling the mother had.
“Young man… are you… really a bad person?” The mother asked with her lips slightly pursed.
Unfortunately, it seemed as if Ye Xuan did not hear the mother’s question. He stared blankly at her, a trace of sorrow passing through his eyes.
“Too alike, just too alike. Could it be that not only Heaven and Earth undergo reincarnation after a hundred thousand years, but all creatures are also part of this reincarnation?” Ye Xuan murmured to himself, his whole being falling into confusion.
“The world always has two flowers that resemble each other, one withers while the other blooms. Could it really be like this?” Ye Xuan kept murmuring to himself, completely engulfed in bewilderment.
“Mom, this man must be crazy. Please call the police right away,” Chu Tian spoke out urgently. He knew that a madman could not be charged with a crime if they hurt someone; they would only be sent to a mental hospital, and he did not want his family to face someone who might have mental issues.
“Big brother, I don’t think he looks like a madman,” Chu Yue spoke up timidly from behind. After the initial panic and fear, she had calmed down and looked at Ye Xuan with curiosity in her eyes.
“If he’s not a madman, what is he? He was bullying you just now,” Chu Tian scolded in a low voice.
“Young man, what’s wrong with you?” The mother asked gently, believing in her own feelings that this peculiar young man was definitely not a bad person.
Perhaps it was the mother’s words that brought Ye Xuan back from his stupefaction. He struggled to calm his emotions, and his face finally regained composure.
“This was once my home, but I haven’t returned for many years. My emotions got the best of me, and I ask that you please excuse my behavior,” Ye Xuan said softly.
“Liar, this slum has only been built for just over a decade. It has always been our place of residence. Before that, it was simply a barren wilderness. How could it possibly be your former home?” Chu Tian said coldly, treating Ye Xuan as a swindler.
“Young man, where is your family? Do you have any way to contact them? Auntie will help you get in touch with your family,” said Chu’s mother gently, although she didn’t think Ye Xuan was a bad person, it seemed like he had some mental issues and must have gotten lost from his family to end up here.
“Family?”
Ye Xuan asked himself blankly, then let out a self-mocking laugh, muttering to himself, “I walk the Great Path alone, eternally without kin; my family has been gone a long time.”
“Madman!” Upon hearing Ye Xuan’s crazed words, Chu Tian’s face slightly changed.
Clang!
Suddenly, the sound of a door being broken echoed from outside. The half-closed iron door was kicked open and a group of burly men barged in, followed by a seductively sexy woman striding into the Chu family’s home.
“You bunch of paupers, still haven’t moved out?”
A burly man looked fierce and grim, brandishing a club in his hands as he bellowed angrily, his eyes fixed menacingly on Chu’s mother, with a savage smile on his face.
“You… don’t mess around… or I’ll call the police,” Chu Tian said, his face changing dramatically, as he quickly protected his little sister and mother with a rolling pin, his face turning red as he shouted angrily at the intruders.
“Giggle, giggle, giggle!”
The sound of pleasant, girlish laughter rang out, and the seductive woman, about twenty years old, laughed softly as she walked toward Chu’s mother and children.
“Little brother, having such a temper isn’t good. Sister here has given your family a chance. It’s you who forced Sister to get rough. You can’t blame me for that!”
The woman’s curvaceous figure was nothing short of beautiful, and now she walked up to Chu Tian, and with a mere pull and tug, she snatched away the rolling pin from his hands, causing Chu Tian to stagger and fall to the ground.
Clearly, this woman was trained, how could Chu Tian be her match?
“Miss Lin, your Lin family has such great wealth and business; we’re just a poor mother and son. Why must you press us so hard?” Chu’s mother said with a bitter smile.
“Auntie, you can’t say that. I, Lin Qianqian, may not be a good person, but I’m certainly not a bad person. Six months ago, I already notified you that this shanty area is to be transformed into the biggest entertainment city in Jiangnan City. I even offered you a significant relocation fee, but you refused to take it, stubbornly staying put. Look around at your neighbors; haven’t they all accepted and are moving out one by one?” Lin Qianqian chuckled, her beautiful eyes gradually becoming sharp.
“Miss Lin, you know very well that the money you offered us is indeed not insubstantial, but with the exorbitant housing prices in Jiangnan City, if we truly move out, that money won’t be enough to buy a house. Wouldn’t that mean we’d lose our home altogether?” Chu’s mother said, her voice filled with bitterness.
“That’s not my problem. The orders have been issued, and in seven days this slum area will be demolished. I’m only here to notify you that if you continue to squat here, don’t blame me, Lin Qianqian, for not being polite,” Lin Qianqian said, her smile now gone, her voice turning cold.
“We can’t possibly move, there’s no need for you to say any more.”
Chu’s mother may have seemed frail, but she was strong-hearted; otherwise, she wouldn’t have raised three children. If she lost the house because of Lin Qianqian’s threats, she would never forgive herself.
“Hmph, you’re rejecting a face-saving offer?” Lin Qianqian said sharply. She was the young miss of the Lin family; everyone who met her was utterly respectful. Chu’s mother’s refusal infuriated her.
“Old hag, looks like you’re tired of living.”
A burly man grinned viciously, taking large strides toward Chu’s mother, clearly intent on teaching her a harsh lesson. This caused the brother and sister to cry out in alarm, rushing to intercept him.
