Chapter 739: Chapter 758: Returning to the Starting Point, The Reincarnation of All Things?

“Ouch, oh my, please don’t torment me anymore,” the plump fellow pleaded with a sycophantic smile. “It took me tens of thousands of years to finally become a Daluo Golden Immortal; please let me enjoy some bliss for a few days.”

Hearing the fawning words, Ye Xuan let out a sigh and said, “Indeed, it’s been a hundred thousand years. Perhaps Jiangnan City is truly our root, and it’s only in the Human World that we can relax.”

Their voices were not loud, but they were clearly heard by the vendors and diners nearby, which made them look at the pair with strange expressions.

“Could these two be madmen?”

“They don’t seem like it, though they’re dressed in ancient robes. Maybe they’re part of a drama crew filming?”

“Are there fewer lunatics nowadays? Did you not hear what these two said?”

“A Daluo Golden Immortal and a hundred thousand years, do they really think they’re in a fantasy TV series?”

The whispering diners and vendors treated the two as if they were madmen, but they would never know that the beings before them were beyond their wildest imaginations.

“Let’s go.”

Ye Xuan heard the murmurs of the crowd, but it was beneath him to take offense as they were mere mortals. He had come to Jiangnan City to see why the history of the Human World had returned to its origin.

Ye Xuan strolled ahead with the plump fellow following. The morning sun slowly disappeared them down the street, their elongated shadows as if to bear witness to their arrival.

Sea changes into mulberry fields, time and tide wait for no man; time can erode all things and take anything away, yet the one thing that remains unchanged is the deep-seated memory in one’s mind.

To Ye Xuan, Jiangnan City was his home and the land that nurtured him. It held his laughter and his sorrows, partings, and reunions.

He once played in the streets with his little sister, frolicked in the wheat fields with his younger brother, experienced his first love here, and lived through his innocent and verdant adolescence here.

The eternally empty endlessness, all things come to pass, and perhaps it’s all just a fleeting moment of glory. A hundred thousand years ultimately erode those people and events of the past. Although history has returned to its beginning and Jiangnan City remains unchanged, he can no longer see those he once knew.

Wandering in the midst of the bustling Red Dust, experiencing the joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness of mortals, Ye Xuan’s thoughts drift. If the history of the Human World truly has come full circle, would those from the past emerge once again?

Home!

A simple word, but for Ye Xuan, it’s been far too long since he last heard it, let alone thought about it. It’s a word so distant that unless he returns to the Human World, he could never bring it to mind.

Jiangnan City, the slums.

This was still a gathering place for the poor and also the home of Ye Xuan from years past.

Following the rugged road, Ye Xuan moved forward relying on his memory, with the plump fellow strolling solemnly behind. He knew this was Ye Xuan’s old homeland and a place where he lived.

The arrival of two people in ancient clothing naturally astonished the residents who were just about to leave for work in the morning. Although they were curious about the pair, they were too busy with their lives to care much and hurried off to attend to their own matters.

A mottled iron gate bore the marks of the passing years, with the walls on either side also spotted and cracked, affirming the house’s age.

Exactly the same, even the old locust tree in front of the gate had not changed in a hundred thousand years!

Ye Xuan stood under the tree, staring blankly at everything before him, unable to come back to his senses for a long time, because he couldn’t believe that a hundred thousand years later, the Human World could recreate his former home. Could there really be such a thing as the law of Reincarnation?

“Mom, I’m hungry.”

Suddenly, a voice as pleasing as the song of an oriole came from behind the iron gate, bringing Ye Xuan’s thoughts back into focus. His body trembled slightly, a testament to the tremendous waves churning within his heart.

“This voice…?”

Ye Xuan murmured with a tremble, step by step he walked towards his old home. When he laid his hand upon the mottled iron gate, he hesitated to push it open.

If history had come full circle, would the voice coming from the house be that of the person who was most important to him in the past?

Ye Xuan’s palm rested on the gate, yet he truly dared not push it open, for he feared that the person he would see would not be the one he wished to meet.

The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment. Over the course of a hundred thousand years, there had been nothing in heaven and earth that Ye Xuan dared not do. Yet now, before this mere iron gate, he found himself reluctant to push it open.

“Sir, go in and take a look,” perhaps sensing Ye Xuan’s struggle and hesitation, Huang Pudgy softly comforted.

Creak!

The not-so-heavy iron gate was finally pushed open by Ye Xuan, who looked pale as he gazed upon the scene inside. A young girl sat in the courtyard, staring back at Ye Xuan, her face a mix of astonishment and panic.

Boom!

Like the Five Thunders Bombing from the sky, as if his Divine Soul had exploded, Ye Xuan felt every pore on his body stand on end, even the Undying True Spirit in his Sea of Consciousness had become extremely sluggish.

“Ling’er!”

Suddenly, Ye Xuan took a step forward, his voice trembling with emotion, and he abruptly appeared before the girl, pulling her into his embrace.

“Brother has missed you so much.”

Ye Xuan held the girl tightly, his eyes unexpectedly moist, his being overwhelmed by an indescribable state.

“Ah!”

Suddenly, a piercing scream came from the girl, her frail body struggling incessantly in Ye Xuan’s arms, her voice filled with utter fear.

“Let… let go of me… Brother… save me.”

Thud thud thud!

A chaotic flurry of footsteps approached, and a young boy emerged from the inner house, his face still smeared with some flour, and even holding a rolling pin. Seeing a stranger in his home clutching his sister, the boy roared, and with the rolling pin in hand, he struck at Ye Xuan.

“Beast, let go of my little sister!”

The boy yelled, relentlessly swinging the rolling pin at Ye Xuan, hitting him repeatedly, which caused Huang Pudgy’s face to contort with worry, a glint of Immortal Light beginning to form at his fingertips as if he was about to intervene.

Regrettably, before Huang Pudgy could act, perhaps due to the boy’s strikes, Ye Xuan finally came to his senses, allowing the girl to escape from his embrace and hide behind the boy, panicked and frightened.

“Who are you, and why are you in my house?” The boy protected his sister behind him, his hand gripping the rolling pin as he shouted at Ye Xuan.

At that moment,

Ye Xuan looked blankly at the siblings, his eyes gradually clearing, a hint of bitterness flashing across them.

Too similar, they were simply too similar. The siblings before him bore a striking resemblance to Ye Ling’er and Ye Ping of years past, yet Ye Xuan had been too excited and mistaken the girl for Ye Ling’er. Now that his senses had returned, he realized that she was not Ye Ling’er.
