Chapter 507: Chapter 502: I Would Rather Die Than Go There (Four Updates)
Seeing Lin Zifeng’s unromantic demeanor, Nangong Bingxin felt a surge of mock anger in her heart.
"Lin, can’t you just humor me? Would it kill you to say a few sweet words? I know you care about me, why can’t you just say it to my face? Wuu, are you going to let last night’s bullying slide just like that? I’m a girl after all, of course, I need to learn to be a little reserved. Can’t you see that? If you really like me, drop your macho pride for once and sweeten me up a bit, who knows, maybe I, Nangong Bingxin, will soften up and, and give in to you."
At this moment, the atmosphere at the dining table between the two became more and more eerie, while Lin Zifeng was like a block of wood.
He had no idea what was on Nangong Bing’s mind, and just kept his head down, continuing to eat his breakfast.
It wasn’t until they had finished their breakfast under this strange atmosphere that they hurried to Zhonghai City International Airport.
Looking at the crowds of travelers coming and going at the airport, Lin Zifeng was baffled.
With so many people, only a ghost would know when Nangong Shui would come out.
What left Lin Zifeng speechless was the fact that there stood Nangong Bing, cool as a cucumber with sunglasses on and arms crossed, while he himself was holding up a big sign that read ’Welcome Grandpa Nangong’ standing at the exit like a tout scalping tickets, feeling utterly uncomfortable under the uniform gaze of dozens around him.
They had agreed to spend a little money to hire a professional greeter from the airport, and yet Nangong Bing flatly refused, saying it lacked sincerity.
Damn it!
Sincerity my ass! It’s not like he’s my own father, why the hell do I have to welcome him?
"Wife, standing here like fools, who knows when your grandpa will come out, how about we spend some money and get someone else to hold the sign?"
He really couldn’t stand the strange looks from the girls at the exit anymore.
"No way!" Nangong Bing refused outright, lifting her pretty chin.
"Look, having me just stand here like an idiot waiting, only a ghost knows when your grandpa will get off the plane, it’s very tiring."
Lin Zifeng complained with a bitter face, having never done something so embarrassing in his life.
"It’s non-negotiable." Nangong Bing chuckled secretly in her heart; she was after this exact effect.
"Damn it, you really think I’m a fool? I’m done." Seeing Nangong Bing covering her face and snickering, he finally realized that she was deliberately toying with him. Screw the sign, just toss it into the trash can.
"Lin, what are you doing? How can you just quit like that? Without the sign, how will my father see us welcoming him?"
As everyone knows, one cannot normally make phone calls on an airplane, and friends and relatives picking someone up would choose in the sea of people to hold up signs with names written on them to make recognition easier, the best way to facilitate picking up guests.
"Screw it." Once his stubborn anger kicked in, he immediately waved his hand and refused to participate any longer.
What kind of stupid welcome is this? Does Nangong Shui have dementia or something? Doesn’t he know the way home?
"You...!" Nangong Bing gritted her teeth in frustration, her chest heaving beneath the purple cloth with anger.
"Come here."
"I’m not coming."
"Come here!" The pretty face beneath the sunglasses grew colder.
"I’d rather die than come over." He kept his distance, the more she asked him to come, the less he wanted to.
Who knows what Nangong Bing will come up with next to torment him.
"Lin Zifeng, come over here, I won’t bite you."
At that moment, Nangong Bing suddenly took off her sunglasses, a sweet, smiling face staring intently at him.
"I-I wipe! Wife, don’t scare me, okay? Be serious, stop that, I’m frightened."
Seeing the sudden gentleness on Nangong Bing’s face, Lin Zifeng subconsciously felt a tremor down there on the third leg.
"..." Nangong Bing’s forehead instantly sprouted countless black lines.
Just as she was about to step forward and scold ’you’re so cheap’
Who knew, Nangong Shui had appeared at the exit without them knowing when, followed by two burly bodyguards, squinting his eyes with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile as he looked over here.
"Uh, your old glass is back." Lin Zifeng pointed at Nangong Shui behind Nangong Bing with his hand, saying with a calm look of surprise.
"You!" Nangong Bing didn’t have time to tangle with him. Turning her head and seeing her father standing not far away, watching the two of them, her delicately arched brows instantly turned a slight red.
"Dad, when did you show up?" Nangong Bing felt somewhat guilty and didn’t dare to look directly at her father.
"Heh heh, just came out." Nangong Shui chuckled, but his eyes swept over Lin Zifeng.
Lin Zifeng felt a series of black lines on his own forehead, deliberately turning his gaze away as if he hadn’t seen anything.
"Dad, why have you come back this time?"
The day before yesterday, Nangong Shui had suddenly phoned his darling daughter, saying he would be back in a few days to visit.
At the time, Nangong Bing was so entangled with work that she didn’t pay much attention. Now, thinking about it suddenly, how was it that her old man, living so well abroad, just decided to come back all of a sudden?
"Got tired of being abroad, wanted to come back and see the changes at home, to experience the feeling of home," Nangong Shui’s chiseled face smiled.
However, no matter how you looked at it, his smile seemed very forced. Could something have happened to him overseas?
From a distance, Lin Zifeng watched with a sharp gaze, piercing through the melancholy in Nangong Shui’s mind.
Yet, he too found it hard to guess the purpose behind Nangong Shui’s return.
Since Lin Zifeng had come back to the country, the two had basically not spoken over the phone at all.
This time, his sudden decision to visit really had Lin Zifeng and Nangong Bing baffled.
"Dad, must’ve been tiring flying all the way, right? Let’s go. It’s not easy for you to come back; you must stay in the country longer this time, no matter what," Nangong Bing said with a gentle smile. Don’t look at how cold Nangong Bing usually is; that’s all for people she’s not familiar with. Especially towards the people close to her, Nangong Bing is almost like a total pushover, giving without asking for anything in return. She was incredibly good to her father as well. Originally, when she took over the management of Tianyu Group, it was because she feared her father would be too tired. So, right after finishing her degree in Economics and Management from an overseas university, she immediately returned to the country to take over the company for her father.
"Yeah, Dad! You must be tired."
Just then, an obtrusive voice that made Nangong Bing want to throw up suddenly came through.
Lin Zifeng was grinning from ear to ear, holding Nangong Shui’s hand tightly, acting more like his dear dad than a dear dad could, almost making Nangong Bing gag.
Especially how he called that ’Dad’ with extra sentiment, as though Nangong Shui really was his old man.
"Uh, heh heh, a little bit, a little bit."
Nangong Shui’s expression was numb as he nodded woodenly. This was the first time this guy had called him dad, and damn, it felt uncomfortable! Nangong Shui secretly wiped a cold sweat in his heart.
