Chapter 506: Chapter 501 Who Does Nangong Bing Really Love?
"You...!" Lin Zifeng was stunned, not expecting that at the final moment, he would be outright rejected by Nangong Bing.
"Lin Zifeng, I, we can’t do this." Nangong Bing lowered her head, her cheeks flushed with myriad thoughts, her fingers intertwined in a visible sign of her intense nervousness.
"Er, that, we... that..." Lin Zifeng was at a loss too.
Damn it!
He hated himself for being so domineering just now, making the situation between them incredibly awkward.
"Lin Zifeng, I, we can’t do this, actually in my heart... we can’t be like this." Nangong Bing’s face was full of melancholy, her thoughts becoming a bit chaotic.
"Hehe, so you actually don’t like me, right?" Lin Zifeng didn’t think such words were too direct, given that their relationship was very unclear at the moment, and some things needed to be clarified.
"No! That’s not it." Nangong Bing suddenly looked at him intently, but then lowered her gaze again.
At this moment, she was torn, uncertain of how much love or hate she held for the man in front of her, not even clear to herself. Yet there was a man she couldn’t let go of in her heart.
That man had appeared in her dreams numerous times, and she had thought of searching for him, but who could know where he was in the vast sea of people?
Besides, Tianyu was facing too many crises at the moment, and she was typically a strong career-oriented woman, completely naive when it came to emotions.
"Hehe, I understand." Lin Zifeng shrugged his shoulders, a bitter smile on his face.
So Nangong Bing already had someone in her heart, she just wouldn’t admit it openly.
"It’s not! Lin Zifeng, can you not make wild guesses, please?" Nangong Bing argued, her neck flush and her lips pursed, yet she did not reveal the secret in her heart.
Seeing a hint of bitterness appear on Lin Zifeng’s face just now, Nangong Bingfang’s heart couldn’t help but wrench with pain.
But she was very clear that if she were to reveal the secret of the man with the bronze mask and Lin Zifeng were to spread it, then ’he’ would be exposed to many threats. This was something Nangong Bing did not want to see.
Nangong Bing was a smart woman; she knew that every time the Death God appeared to save her, he wore an antique green mask, clearly not wanting others to know his real face, nor to be exposed to the public eye. Perhaps he really had his reasons.
Considering this, Nangong Bing decided not to reveal even the slightest bit of the masked man’s identity to anyone, even if she knew of the masked man’s whereabouts, she firmly wouldn’t tell anyone.
And Lin Zifeng, not knowing who precisely Nangong Bing had in her heart, had been smart all his life, but was foolish this once.
He even faintly felt it comical that Nangong Bing might have someone else in her heart.
There had been laughter, there had been touching moments, and quite a few minor disputes in life as well.
But none felt as odd as this.
"Sorry, I’m a bit tired." After hesitating for a long time, Nangong Bing still didn’t reveal her secret; to escape, she chose to silently endure it all.
Watching Nangong Bing’s slender figure slowly disappear from sight, Lin Zifeng’s bitter smile faintly curled up into a grimace.
Back in the room later, neither of them slept that night; Nangong Bing even tossed and turned in bed, took two sleeping pills trying to calm down and sleep, but her mind was a haze.
Especially since Lin Zifeng had kissed her forcefully that night, a timid smile might appear on Nangong Bing’s beautiful lips, but looking at the poster of the mysterious man wearing the antique green mask by the bedside, Nangong Bing’s mind became chaotic again...
Meanwhile, Lin Zifeng lay with open eyes staring fixedly at the ceiling, unsure whether what he was doing was right.
Ever since he first saw Nangong Bing after returning to the country, he had sworn inwardly never to entangle himself with this woman, but as time passed, he had developed a slight fondness for Nangong Bing.
Was this really love? He wasn’t sure.
But he knew one thing for certain, he absolutely could not become involved with Nangong Bing, for the pain wouldn’t be his alone, and the only person who would end up hurt was Nangong Bing.
Since the day he had escaped from Dark Prison, he had been clear that his future path might no longer be ordinary.
Three years later, whether he could survive was still unknown...
Looking at the ancient bracelet on his wrist, Lin Zifeng was lost in thought—he hadn’t known whether he should have taken it with him at the start.
Now, everything had gone beyond his expectations. Touching his pocket, he took out a cigarette. Lin Zifeng’s eyes were despondent, his poker face utterly indifferent.
Gazing out the window at the faint moonlight filled with luminous bloom, a fierce expression appeared on his evil face.
Five years had passed to this day, and his parents’ whereabouts remained unknown. Now, Heavenly Gate was fraught with danger, threatening his life at every turn.
The CIA, too, was scheming against him. The secret of the Magic Bracelet seemed to vaguely invite danger, which had soured his mood recently, leading to what he had done to Nangong Bing tonight...
Not until the following morning, and because he had not felt sleepy last night, Lin Zifeng didn’t get out of bed until much later.
Nangong Bing seemed always to be more spirited than anyone else. It wasn’t until his alarm went off seven or eight times that he slowly climbed out of bed.
After washing up, he saw Nangong Bing sitting at the dining table in the living room, leisurely chewing his food.
Lin Zifeng didn’t go over to bother him.
He simply greeted him, then swaggered over and sat down at the table.
Carefully, he cut into the fresh steak on his plate with a knife and fork.
Nangong Bing felt an odd atmosphere in the living room and inadvertently glanced up at him.
The look almost startled Lin Zifeng into slicing his plate in half.
"What’s wrong?" Nangong Bing asked, as if nothing was amiss.
"Nothing, probably just didn’t sleep well last night," Lin Zifeng carefully responded, stealing a glance at Nangong Bing’s facial expression after he spoke, seeing the usual cold beauty beneath which was indifference. This somewhat reassured Lin Zifeng.
He didn’t want last night’s incident to lead to awkward interactions between them.
"Oh." Nangong Bing nodded, continuing to eat slowly, then casually picked up the newspaper in front of him, showing no regard for the person breathing next to him.
"Bingbing, don’t read the newspaper while eating, it’s bad for your stomach," Lin Zifeng kindly advised.
"Hmph." Nangong Bing snorted softly, ignoring him and raising the newspaper higher deliberately to cover his face, although he had felt a sweet warmth, but his cold exterior was unwilling to show it.
Well, alright, my kindness is mistaken for an organ of a donkey.
Lin Zifeng helplessly shrugged his shoulders.
He continued to devour the food on his plate.
As the atmosphere in the living room grew increasingly eerie, and seeing that Lin Zifeng had no reaction for a long time, Nangong Bing slowly lowered the newspaper to see what he was actually doing, only to be met with a face that looked as if he hadn’t eaten in centuries.
This once again stirred some feigned anger in the depths of Nangong Bing’s heart.
