Chapter 655: Chapter 629: Don’t Want to Die

How could an executive of the Red and Blue Group stoop to using a captured prisoner as a hostage?

Dani thought this way, Gao Yi thought this way, and Lucy didn’t think at all. She just went up and fired a shot, and so the most valuable person was killed with one bullet.

What else could Gao Yi say? Was he supposed to blame Lucy for shooting right away? Should he have negotiated with the people inside to confirm the bald guy wouldn’t surrender before ordering Lucy to shoot?

Sorry, Gao Yi would never do something that stupid.

Since the person was already dead, Gao Yi certainly wouldn’t let Lucy feel guilty about her choice.

He also needed Buck to feel like he was receiving treatment he had never experienced in his life, which is being valued so much that they would blow a highly valuable person’s head off for his safety.

Buck stared at Gao Yi in disbelief, and said in a low voice, "You actually came. I mean, there were only a few of you, and yet you really fought your way in."

"It’s normal. How could we leave our own behind?"

With that said, Gao Yi turned to Dani and said, "Unlock the handcuffs."

Gao Yi couldn’t pick locks, but that was Dani’s specialty. However, Dani didn’t show off his skills; he calmly asked the prisoner who had been shot, "The handcuff key."

The trembling prisoner crawled on the floor and pulled out a set of keys from his pocket. Dani took the keys and unlocked the cuffs from Buck’s hands.

Buck had taken quite a beating, but he wasn’t seriously injured, just some superficial wounds, nothing that would hinder his movement.

"Hey, you."

Yuri took an interest in the prisoner still crawling on the floor. He walked up to the blood-soaked prisoner with interest and said, "Now, tell us who you are. If you have value, you can live."

A truly despairing choice, a real dilemma.

Either die immediately by being shot, ending the suffering instantly,

Or perhaps survive a bit longer but only to face torture and suffering afterwards.

"He’s our director, Ramos, the second person in charge of the FBI in New York State."

Buck stepped forward and exposed the prisoner’s identity without hesitation.

Yuri was stunned for a moment, then immediately gleeful and said, "Oh, that’s great. But if he’s the second-in-command, who might this person be?"

"I don’t know. I’ve never seen him, but I feel he must be someone important. Everyone here follows his orders, even him."

Buck pointed to his immediate superior, then said with a grave expression, "Everyone follows this bald guy’s orders."

Yuri promptly demanded, "Tell us, who the hell is he?"

Ramos, weary, replied, "He... is no one significant, but he was sent by the director. He’s the actual person in charge of the Red and Blue Group. I have nothing to do with the Red and Blue Group here. I don’t handle any of their affairs. We senior officials in public service can’t directly join the Red and Blue Group; it’s only those bottom-tier agents who join them."

Gao Yi cleared his throat softly, then said to Yuri, "We can ask these questions later. The priority now is to find Little Andic."

Yuri waved his hand and said, "You go find Little Andic. I’ll stay here and ask him some questions while he’s still alive."

Ramos suddenly looked taken aback.

Gao Yi thought that made sense. There was no need to waste time here; searching for Little Andic and interrogating this prisoner could be done simultaneously.

"Let’s go, we’re heading up."

Ramos weakly said, "Wait, wait a moment. There’s a doctor here. Why don’t you carry me up so the doctor can save me? In return, I’ll tell you everything I know, how about that?"

Perhaps fearing his terms weren’t enticing enough, Ramos quickly added, "I know a lot, but if I die, no one can tell you any of it."

Gao Yi hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Alright, lift him up."

Ramos couldn’t walk himself; he was shot in the chest near the center when he burst through the door. It undoubtedly hurt his lung, as evidenced by the blood frothing from the gunshot wound, a typical symptom of a lung shot.

Dani could only grab Ramos’s arm, and even though Buck had just gained his freedom, he didn’t have physical issues, so he supported Ramos’s other arm.

"Take the elevator. There are no combat personnel upstairs."

Ramos spoke faintly, but could still communicate clearly.

Gao Yi asked in confusion, "Please explain why all this is happening. Why is the Red and Blue Group opposing me?"

"Because of money, because of the struggle for control over the Dark Web. But there must be deeper reasons I’m unaware of."

Again with the nonsense, this Ramos. Talking nonsense seemed instinctual for him.

Yuri could handle people like Ramos and rudely said, "What’s the deeper reason? You’re dying, so get to the point. Give us the most fundamental reason in the shortest possible sentence."

Ramos took a difficult breath and whispered, "If I tell you, I’ll have no chance of being saved. Let me live, and I’ll tell you everything later. For now, I can only say that the FBI will arrive soon. The distress signal has been sent out. Although the hostage rescue team’s suffered heavy losses, more reinforcements will be here soon. You need to act quickly. Leave me here, let the doctor save me, and afterward, you can find a way to get me out of prison. I’ll tell you everything I know."

By now, Ramos realized that if he revealed everything, he might not have a hope of survival. So, he began bargaining.

It certainly was a chance to live, albeit small, but much better than speaking outright.

They arrived at the elevator.

Yuri pressed the elevator button and continued, "Fine, we’ll take Little Andic and leave the doctor here. If you survive, we can certainly find you again."

"There are no armed personnel on the fourth floor. The doctors will be hiding. You just need to find them. Please, make sure the doctor saves me..."

Ramos was almost out of strength, and it was a miracle he could still talk after being shot.

Gao Yi suddenly said, "When will the reinforcements arrive, and which unit are they sending this time, from which direction?"

Ramos was close to losing consciousness, and the elevator door had already opened. His head drooped uncontrollably, but before passing out, he quickly and laboriously said, "They’re not our people any longer, no need to use FBI personnel. It’s Ben... Ben found some people. Please don’t leave me, save me, I don’t want to die."
