Chapter 650: Chapter 624 Empty

Dani rushed to the second floor and was met with the dark barrel of a gun. A man in a suit was retreating backwards uncontrollably, aiming the muzzle at the fire escape stairs.

The person guarding the fire escape made two big mistakes. Firstly, he shouldn’t have cried out; secondly, he shouldn’t have retreated into the interior of the second floor, limiting his view to a very small range.

If he had stood on the stairs and fired down at Dani, it would have been difficult for Dani to dodge. But now, Dani could easily rush up.

The barrel was aimed at the oncoming Dani, but it was too late. Dani raised his hand and fired a shot, with nine pellets almost all hitting the defender’s face. The strong stopping power left the man on the second floor with no chance to shoot, and he fell immediately.

Dani stopped, not continuing upstairs.

He could keep going up via the outdoor fire stair, or reenter the interior through the second-floor fire stair entrance.

Dani put away his pistol, broke open his shotgun, and quickly loaded two shells after ejecting the empty ones.

One was a single slug, the other a shell with three large pellets.

Sith took over Dani’s position.

Buck was reportedly upstairs, along with the main forces of the Red and Blue Group on the third floor. However, Yuri also said to clear from the second floor to the top, so there was no rush to go up. It was better to turn from the outside to the inside, slowly.

The second floor looked like a large office area.

The first floor was a lobby with no staff. The second floor was an open office hall with at least dozens of computers, the largest and relatively basic office area. Almost all partitions were glass, even the areas requiring more privacy used frosted glass, along with blinds.

Dani and Sith stood still, and Gao Yi and Lucy followed behind.

Gao Yi didn’t bring his competition pistol or his Warhammer. He now had only an ordinary pistol and a very ordinary hammer, a claw hammer.

But it seemed the second floor wasn’t populated either, appearing empty, though it wasn’t completely devoid of people.

A woman ran out of a room, wearing a business suit, looking about fifty or sixty years old. She suddenly ran out of the door, saw the situation outside, and screamed before turning back to her private office.

"Low threat on the second floor."

Sith whispered, then frowned, "It seems like they’re on vacation here."

"Or maybe they’ve moved upstairs."

"Impossible, only a few computers are on, and if they moved, what about the woman just now?"

Dani and Sith whispered, while Gao Yi had nothing to do, so he surveyed the surroundings.

There were still several rooms between the office where the woman appeared and where they were, but now it seemed the second floor was truly empty.

Even if there was no one, a thorough search was needed. Speed wasn’t the goal; missing no one was.

It wasn’t necessary to search every nook and cranny, but Gao Yi’s team did take a glance in every office.

The hall was in full view, empty, and the separately enclosed offices were empty too. They quickly searched three small rooms, reaching the fourth room, the one with the woman earlier, Dani gestured to Sith and suddenly raised his gun, turning outward.

"Don’t move!"

Dani raised the gun, and the woman in the office raised her hands high, standing motionless, full of panic, her legs trembling uncontrollably.

Dani did not shoot. He walked into the office, while Sith pointed his gun at the empty office hall, and Lucy aimed hers at the fire stair exit behind.

Gao Yi had nothing to do, so he followed into the office.

Dani said to the woman, "Why is there no one here?"

There was a sign outside the office, indicating it was a financial room. Inside, there was only one desk, clearly a single-person office.

"They left early..."

The woman was still panicked but could speak normally, stammering, "We received a temporary leave notice today based on level."

Dani said sternly, "Why did you stay?"

"I needed to handle some account cleaning."

"What else do you know? How many people are in this building?"

"I don’t know. I was ordered not to leave my room. I decided to run when I heard gunshots."

Since she was a finance person, she couldn’t be killed. Dani nodded and said, "Come here."

The woman walked with extreme difficulty to Dani, who chopped at her neck, causing the woman to fall, merely unconscious, not dead.

Dani said to Gao Yi, "It seems most are above the third floor. It’s clear their operations are separate. Not all belong to the Red and Blue Group, but this woman does. Also, there aren’t many skilled fighters upstairs, but there are at least a few. The fact they haven’t rushed down yet is not a good sign."

Gao Yi was worried whether Buck, who entered first, might be dead.

Even though compensation had been arranged, Gao Yi didn’t want to see any of his people die.

Those on his side were his people. Gao Yi couldn’t be as ruthless as Yuri.

"How to fight?"

Dani pointed to the staircase in the middle of the office area and said, "We must split into two groups, one going up the central stairs, the other through the outdoor fire stairs. Both routes are dangerous. You choose one."

Gao Yi said without hesitation, "I’m better at fighting in confined spaces, I’m more agile. I’ll take the fire stairs."

Dani was plump, relatively slower. Hearing Gao Yi’s choice, he nodded, "I’m glad you chose that. Let’s start, be careful. I think there are at least a few professionals in charge of fighting."

"Okay, let’s move separately."

Gao Yi turned and walked toward the fire stair, Dani and Sith raised their guns and headed toward the main stairs. As for the elevator, it was simply ignored, but Yuri was still on the first floor and should be able to block the only elevator.

Yuri, the old guy, is good at avoiding trouble.

Gao Yi reached the fire stair exit, waited for a moment, then saw Dani and Sith slowly approach the main stair. Sith feigned once, provoking a barrage of bullets. This clarified the situation.

Two people fired, not using rifles, at the stair corner.

Apparently, there weren’t many people, and to be honest, their response wasn’t that fast. Otherwise, Sith should have been shot just by making a feint.

Gao Yi nodded, pointed to the fire stairs, signaling Lucy to follow him up.

So far, the battle had gone smoothly. The Red and Blue Group Headquarters’ defense was as weak as expected. The only unknown was what lay further upstairs.
