Chapter 633: Chapter 607: The Curse of Knowledge

Life doesn’t offer many chances to fight.

Buck is 36 this year, just the right age for hustling, but his mistake was getting involved with the Red and Blue Group for a little extra cash, getting on that pirate ship is easy, getting off is difficult.

If it weren’t for wasting too many years in one place, if it weren’t for constantly mingling with those at the bottom, how could Buck be on good terms with everyone, navigating both the underworld and the official circles?

Having dual identities, one in the open and one in the shadows, means he must progress on both fronts. If he can’t advance on both sides simultaneously, then he can’t get promoted on either—this is Buck’s current predicament.

The turning point was today, with Martin, who like Buck, ran errands for the Red and Blue Group outside. But now Martin is rapidly climbing the ranks, and although they’re not in the same region, Buck has to respectfully call him "Sir" on the phone.

When Martin called, he said one more thing.

Martin mentioned that the boss who was promoting him and giving him a raise had arrived, and asked Buck to do a small favor.

He didn’t say specifically what it was, but in the end, Martin added that Buck should perform well, as there’s a need for people in New York.

With just these words, what else was there to say? Buck had to go all out to impress.

But for Gao Yi, the situation was different.

If Buck heard the name Nelson Andic and didn’t react, it meant he hadn’t heard of this name before, which implied he had no idea who Little Andic was.

If you don’t know someone, you won’t fear them, but if you’re not afraid, how do you find them?

Gao Yi pondered for a long time before finally saying, "Are you sure you can find them just by having a name? What if this name was never used, and the person is using an alias now?"

"Uh..."

Gao Yi really stumped Buck with this question.

But Buck had been in this line of work long enough to know how to handle these matters, so he carefully replied, "Using an alias is normal. I mean, regardless of whether it’s a real or an alias, as long as there’s a name, we can find them. If Nelson Andic uses his real name, I’ll search for it as a real name."

Gao Yi didn’t understand. He glanced over at Yuri at the next table and noticed Yuri also looked surprised.

Seeing everyone’s puzzled expressions, Buck didn’t dare keep them in suspense any longer and quietly said, "If it’s a real name, it’s what’s on the birth certificate. From my experience, no matter how complex someone’s identity is, they always have a real identity. So, we’ll trace back from this line, ignoring any assumed names. Is Nelson Andic’s name a real one?"

"It should be a real name..."

Gao Yi wasn’t sure, but after thinking for a moment, he said, "It’s a real name. Try searching for it."

"Alright."

Buck took out a regular-looking phone, turned it on, and began inputting a name, saying in a low voice, "This phone has permissions that allow access to the FBI’s criminal records. Throughout the entire United States, anyone with a record can be found with just a name..."

Buck keyed in the name Nelson Andic.

The name wasn’t common, nor was the surname, but after entering it, more than a dozen results quickly appeared.

"Do you know this person’s age?"

Gao Yi shook his head.

"You don’t know the age? Do you know anything about his background? Do you know what he does?"

Gao Yi thought for a moment, then said, "Criminal organization, heir to the big boss."

"Oh? Then these can be ruled out."

Buck quickly flipped through a few photos, saying, "Though you’re unsure about the age, these were too old during the crimes. A wealthy heir wouldn’t appear in these criminal files."

Buck didn’t show the phone to Gao Yi. He quickly scrolled through, shaking his head, saying, "No, there are fourteen Nelson Andics nationwide, spanning several decades, but none fit the profile of someone wealthy. Hmm, I’ll check something else."

Gao Yi was slightly skeptical of Buck’s capabilities because if the CIA and NSA couldn’t find it, could Buck really?

Though one can access FBI records, what’s the use? The CIA has looked them over already.

Gao Yi exhaled and said, "How about I inquire for more detailed information?"

"No need, no need, um, hold on, is there any info that can be disclosed, like any recent major events or something?"

Buck asked cautiously, knowing full well that many things can’t be casually revealed.

Gao Yi did not hesitate and said, "I don’t know, oh, but I do know he’s hiding in Long Island, and many people are searching for him. Never mind, why are we speaking ambiguously? Ask directly if there’s something you need to know, and I’ll tell you. Right now, the CIA and NSA are both looking for this person, and so is the FBI. You understand? Whoever finds him first gains the advantage, plain and simple."

Buck looked as though he had a revelation and said without hesitation, "I understand, ah, I’m truly foolish. If a person of your stature has personally come to New York to find him, then who else could it be."

Gao Yi was perplexed, "You know?"

"Is it Yero and his son?"

Apparently, Buck didn’t understand the significance of the Andic surname, but he seemed to know Yero and his son’s alias.

Suddenly, something dawned on Buck, and his face turned pale as he quietly exclaimed, "Andic... Andic Group, oh my god."

Gao Yi thought Buck didn’t seem smart at all. He couldn’t understand where this reputation for being savvy and capable came from.

Buck mumbled to himself, "I really should have realized earlier, an information black hole, no data at all, unbelievable. You’re looking for the Andic of Andic Group? Shit, I never even knew that Andic was a surname."

Gao Yi grew even more skeptical about Buck’s capabilities; how could he not know these things?

Seemingly aware of Gao Yi’s doubt, Buck softly said, "Sir, you’re a big figure, you’ll think these things are common knowledge, but with respect, people like me will never access such secrets, never in a lifetime."

Knowledge curse, a classic knowledge curse.

Once one knows a piece of knowledge or information, it’s difficult to comprehend others’ lack of it.

It’s clear Gao Yi believed it was common knowledge worldwide, but in truth, it’s known to only a few.

Gao Yi breathed out and said, "Alright, I should’ve explained it to you earlier, so now that you know his name and background, can you find him?"

Buck confidently replied, "Anyone else wouldn’t find him, but I can, and I’d wager only I can. Sir, the next steps will be much easier."

With the same phone, Buck accessed another page and said in a low voice, "I always thought Yero and his son were in real estate. Andic Group, unbelievable, let me see, Yero and his son... oh, my god."

Gao Yi asked quietly, "What’s the matter?"

"Mr. Yero was sent to the hospital yesterday morning and was immediately placed under control, and his son shot Yero’s secretary dead at Yero’s home. Oh, the police are working the case, the FBI has taken it over, sir, I know what to do now, but things seem to be a bit complicated."
